It’s is totally uNsuitable and does not help anyone learn Arabic
This book is written in Arabic so I’m not sure how you could think it’s suitable for someone to learn to speak arabic. I’m extremely disappointed in this purchase

The modules and exercises are pretty good in teaching important lessons BUT
I am not really convinced. The modules and exercises are pretty good in teaching important lessons BUT: 1. As some people mentioned this book is hard to use without a teacher, which the also states in the instructions. I personally think a good teaching book should be able to include exercises and explanations that students can use by themselves. Especially for adults who mostly learn by themselves. 2. It only has a CD and no online audio link. Come on! It's 2017, who owns a CD player anymore??? 3. The book doesn't lay flat. I know it sounds minor but it's so annoying to constantly hold the book down and keep it from closing. 4. The instructions in arabic are too difficult for beginner's level.

Kallimni Arabi Bishweesh
Not suitable for students. It should be clearly stated especially because the author is a teacher of such a prestigious insitution as the American University in Cairo.

Good Lesson aid, but not for revising
This book is more for teachers than students. I bought it since my tutor is using this book, and I can read the Arabic script. I had noticed a few typos on the texts within. The dialogue scripts in the book in combination Audio CD allow for studying outside of lessons but the excersices in the book are not clear.

What a great resource to learn Egyptian Dialect
Regardless of what the other reviews have said, I consider this to be one of the finest book series for learning the Egyptian Dialect on the market. I have studied Arabic for 6 years, starting off with the Al-kitaab series in High School and now am studying abroad and learning Egyptian. There are no other book like this one. You cannot learn Arabic in English. You have to be immersed in the target language. and for those who cannot study abroad in the Middle East for whatever reason and thus become immersed, this is the next closest thing to total immersion. That being said, yes, the book is written entirely in the Arabic Script. I realize this comes as a surprise to some, however one cannot seriously pursue learning the Arabic language without first learning the Arabic alphabet/script. You just simply cannot learn anything past basic Arabic with transliteration in Latin script. Secondly, nobody, NOBODY speaks FusHa or MSA. Nobody. I have been to Egypt and Lebanon and converse with Arabs on campus and trust me: nobody speaks it. You will be at a total loss if you try to speak MSA. The Arabs look at you funny and realize that you're an ignorant foreigner and then proceed to talk to you in MSA very slowly, as if you were dumb and need help. Thus, this book is valuable in that it immerses one in the most commonly understood dialect of the Middle East. The CD audio is amazing and the dialogues are interesting. the speakers on the CD gradually begin to speak faster in order to attune your ears to normal conversational-level speech. The only flaw is that there is not a complete, comprehensive list of all of the vocabulary. I understand that this is because the author wants students to guess by context, but in some cases there is no way of inferring what the speaker means and you simply must have a translation. Other than that, I love this series and cant wait to finish the current book and move onto the next

Great book, but needs a teacher
- This book is for complete beginners, but there is no English or transcription... therefore having a teacher is very recommended. - All audio is downloadable from the publisher's web-site - you can do it even before buying the book (as another reviewer has mentioned - there is no archive, you have to download every single dialogue mp3, and there are around 50 of them just for Module 1) - The book was highly recommended by native Egyptian Arabic teachers and so far it does seem to be decent
