Animal Essentials Seaweed Calcium

OVERVIEW: Animal Essentials Seaweed Calcium is an exceptional, filler-free mineral supplement. It is an essential tool for anyone formulating balanced homemade dog food or cat diets, particularly for pets with severe allergies or significant medical complications. THE CHALLENGE: ANAPHYLAXIS & DENTAL SURGERY 🐶🩺🏥 The experience was truly harrowing. My much-loved dog suffered a life-threatening anaphylactic reaction to a hidden, corn-derived ingredient while under veterinary hospital care. My confidence was profoundly shaken—if professionals couldn't avoid hidden allergens, how could I? 🙏🏻💔 The stakes were incredibly high because of significant complications following a fractured premolar. The surgical incision had come apart, leaving a gaping cavity wound in his gum that made his usual raw food diet impossible. I had to pivot to a soft, homemade dog food recovery plan that met strict FEDIAF compliant recipes without irritating the sensitive gum tissue. WHY I CHOSE ANIMAL ESSENTIALS I needed to know if corn-derived maltodextrin was used as a clumping agent in their machinery. Their customer service was a lifeline—patient, knowledgeable, and transparent. I was reassured this natural seaweed calcium wasn't just clean; it was safe for my pet. They confirmed this is a 100% pure seaweed calcium (Lithothamnium) with zero hidden fillers. PRODUCT BENEFITS & USAGE TIP • Superior Sourcing: I favour this over bone meal due to its cleaner, sustainable sourcing. • Mineral Synergy: Unlike generic calcium carbonate or powdered eggshell, this naturally includes magnesium, which is vital for a balanced calcium to phosphorus ratio. • Odourless & Pure: It is a finely milled, plant-based calcium for dogs and cats. While a tiny minority of the absolute pickiest eaters may object, most pets find this incredibly easy to accept. It blends perfectly into raw meat, wet food, or home-cooked toppers. 💡 Usage Tip: The ultra-fine, grit-free texture makes it an ideal calcium supplement for recovery meals following canine oral surgery. It ensures accurate dosing without irritating sensitive gum tissue. 🚨7-MONTH UPDATE I have been using this supplement for seven months and my dog is fully recovered from his surgery. • His gum wound healed in 1/3 of the time the vet expected. ❤️‍🩹 • His lab work is reassuring 🧪🔬: his senior blood panels came back absolutely "spot on" and perfectly balanced. The maths of formulation is so much simpler with this product. 🏆 VERDICT Whether you are starting a BARF diet or improving your pet's bone and joint health, this is the vital piece of the home formulation puzzle. It provides the assurance you need that you are providing perfectly balanced bowls, made with love. 🐾❤️

I bought this product as it was recommended by a dog nutritionist as a calcium supplement to homemade food. I was worried that my fussy eater wouldn’t like the flavour but I’m pleased that he doesn’t mind it at all.

Add this product into my dog’s homemade food.

Second time ordering this- seems like a good product.

Really pleased with the product will buy again.

I bought this as my dogs are raw fed but 1 cannot tolerate bone so this was a substitution. Unfortunately neither of my dogs liked it and, for the first time ever, they picked at their food and left quite a bit of it. The description said it was tasteless but the dogs disagree.

Highly not recommend to buy! The product I just received on 27/04, just have 4 month shelf life.

This is a great product - very easy to use and mixes well with homemade food - no smell, and my dog has not noticed any difference in her meals and eats it up as before - I like the idea that it is very easy digestible for the dogs since mine has had a pancreas problem in the past. I will order this product again! Product came packaged well and not tampered with - HerbsPro - very pleased.

I have been using this product for about 6 months and it brought my dogs low calcium bloodwork up to normal. He is a 65 pound German Shepard mix and I mix in a heaping spoonful with every meal(homemade fresh food). Not sure of the reviews that have people adding this to how many pounds of food they have. It says right on the package 1 spoonful for every 25 pounds that your dog weighs. My dog is picky and has no issues eating his food with the powder on it. No digestive problems either. You can also add a little water on top of the food and mix it in to remove the chalkiness. Organic Nonfat greek yogurt is also a great way to give your dog calcium and protein but not every dog can tolerate dairy.

My picky mini golden doodle (15lbs) liked it! I put the recommended dose (1/4 tsp) for his weight directly into his mouth (mid tongue), immediately very gently held his snout close and waited literally 5 seconds until he swallowed it and that was it, no fuss, no stress, it dissolved quick and easy! What a wonderful and highly absorbable formula! I’m so glad that I found this natural, clean, high quality calcium supplement for my pooch, without additives or any other additional fillers/or ingredients added and with third-party testing for purity/contaminants. and from an ethically sourced and sustainable business. Couldn’t ask for anything better in a supplement product! Thank you Animal Essentials!
