The Truman Show

A masterpiece of film. Shows off Jim's talent and I alway feel my chest tighten when tries to escape and soaring when he leaves.

I like this movie Jim carrey is a good actor.

My ultimate "Go to" movie if I need cheering up and some belief. Always makes me happy, love this film.

My copy arrived well before release date in the UK and I had a family movie night.... The kids absolutely loved it and I had forgotten just how great this movie is and how relevant it remains. For me the transfer was decent if unremarkable. There were a few shots that gave me that native 4k detail and intense colour vividness I have been spoiled by but for the most part I just had the feeling that it could look a bit better. Wide shots rarely had more than middling definition. Foliage and building textures were average mostly. Close ups fared the best but again fell flat and I feel a higher average bit rate may have helped elevate this one. I guess there are limitations with different camera/lenses/film stocks maybe in use throughout. I kept thinking...I wonder what Sony could have done with this transfer?? Occasionally low bit rates and some possible fltering to mask the chroma noise and wonky compression sometimes found on HDR10 base layers and that would seem to be the case here. I can't comment on Dolby Vision as I am not set up for this currently. Paramount are the least consistent studio for 4K but on the whole a decent disk IMO.

Incredible life affirming production.

A true masterpiece and just like the Matrix it's more like a documentary than a film..

Classic film with a happy ending .Very entertaining.

The first time I saw this movie I absolutely loved it! It's not to everyone's taste as my partner finds it somewhat boring but I could watch this a million times over This movies looks at the life of Truman (Jim Carrey) who is about to discover just how abnormal his seemingly 'normal' life is. What he doesn't realise is that his whole life is a reality t.v show, televised and broadcast for the world to see set up by Cristof (Ed Harris) Cristof tries to control all aspects of trumans life, even removing his true love, Sylvia (Natascha McElhone) from the show and replacing her with Meryl (Laura Linney). Truman starts to discover the truth...but will he act on it. This arrived on prime the next day brand new wrapped in cellophane so could be given as a gift. The OCD perfectionist in me loves this film as everything is so perfect! From his overly upbeat wife, happy neighbours and beautiful homes. the special features on this blu ray film are- how's it going to end? The making of the Truman show part 1 how's it going to end? A classic film with endless replay value. Lots of details you can enjoy on later viewings. The Blu-Ray provides sharp detail, which can be lost when streaming online.

O filme é excelente e aborda o fascínio e alienação que os "reality shows" provocam em muitos telespectadores, alguns anos antes dos mesmos virarem corriqueiros. Na parte técnica, vídeo e áudio são de ótima qualidade. O filme tem legenda em português. Os extras mais importantes também têm legendas em português.

Great movie and way ahead of its time. Excellent plot and acting. Jim Carrey is fantastic!
