Quick Reviews!
I would have loved this as a lad, being a bit of a nerd for learning stuff that most people don't and having an interest in maps and ancient history. My kids... not so much. Then again, if they'd had Tik Toks and Roblox back in the 80s, I'm sure my face would have been glued to those all day every day too. The book contains a lot of useful, yet basic knowledge to open a doorway to history for kids. It takes about the different era, the different regions, who was in power, and you can see how those change over time and compare with today. Most of the globe is covered, and there are maps, artwork, monuments, and snippets of facts about society, war, religion, customs, fashion, entertainment etc. The layout is clear and the information isn't complex. It's probably best for the younger reader - before getting to 'big school'. My daughters seem a little too old or uninterested in it, so I'll be foisting it upon my son who is a little too young for it at the moment.

Great Book
If you have a child that wants to learn more about history and the effects the ancient world has had on us then this a is a great book. The Ancient World Atlas maps the world with history. Exploring ancient civilisations and ages that left a lasting impression on the world. The sample we received is the hardback edition and is a colourful and substantial book. Inside there are plenty of photographs, maps and illustrations. The book is just limited to pictures and maps, there is plenty of text that is in easy to digest sections, and it works well for reference. A nice book that will make a great gift to a budding historian.

Fascinating Book from Lonely Planets Kids
This is a fascinating dip into Ancient Civilisations from all over the world. The product page says for children aged 9-12, I think children at the higher end of that range may not be quite as interested unless they have a particular interest in ancient history and archaeology. It's packed full of photographs, illustrations, maps and diagrams. The text is easy to follow and offers an overview of many different civilisations. The book is split into eight sections - From Hunters to Farmers (which looks at the development of civilisation and how archaelogists make their discoveries; - the following sections then look at specific empires/peoples from the different continents as follows - Western Asia; Central, Southern and Eastern Asia; Europe; Africa; North America; South America; Australia and Oceania. It concludes with a timeline, glossary, index and acknowledgements. Overall I think it's a stunning book but with each civilisation only getting a few pages if you are really interested in learning more about a certain culture what you have here is a jumping off point. It would make a lovely present for a child who loves books.

Loads of info
The Lonely Planet Kids Amazing Ancient World Atlas is packed full of information on ancient civilisations and histories while trying to make it interesting for kids. There are actual maps in here helping to explain where the ancient civilisations were located, though the maps arenโt as prevalent as you would expect for an atlas. The paper is matt and good quality, with the printing being great quality throughout. Colours used in the book follow the historical theme. All in all, for kids with any interest in ancient history, the Lonely Planet Kids Amazing Ancient World Atlas is a solid choice.
