HIGHLY RECCOMMENDED - Batavia Cordless Cutter
FANTASTIC. This far excelled my expectations. I purchased this Batavia Cordless Cutter Power Scissors to cut up carpets in three bedrooms, and it worked a treat. Admittedly the carpet was not a thick carpet, but nevertheless the scissors cut through it without effort. I have tried a stanley knife before now but it takes a lot of effort, the blades would often break, and as I have a spine injury I find these power scissors much easier to use by far. In addition, the battery holds its charge very well. A couple of negative points: Firstly, as far as I'm aware, replacement blades are not available to buy. Secondly, I'm right-handed, and on a two or three occasions I needed to use the scissors in my left hand - this was a little difficult and less easy to use. A word of caution. I purchased an additional item which was a set of three scissor heads Skil 2610397158 Scissor heads for Multi-Cutter . DON'T BOTHER, they don't fit this Batavia Cordless Cutter - I've returned them as incompatible.

Made for bigger hands than mine
Certainly a good item to have. Sadly I had to return it, cause the on off switch is underneath and my hand could not reach it sufficiently to continously press it. As with a drill, you let go it stops. It will go through several layers of denim. Very clean cut, even on fine fabric. Just not made for small hands.

Very safe to use, but buttons need force. Cuts well, once you get the knack. Not very suitable for left handed use.
This cutter takes a bit of getting used to, but does the job once you have the knack. It's strongly safety focused, to operate this you need to press the side-mounted orange safety button and the on-off switch at the same time, and keep them pressed down. This takes a bit of force. If you have arthritis in your hands, and want to get a cordless cutter because of this, I wouldn't get this product. Initially I couldn't quite work out how to keep the cutter blade vibrating and 'on'. The secret is (at least on mine) is to press the on-off switch down at the front, and keep it pressed. Once you have done that, and have the arm power to put pressure behind your cutter, then it works well. Don't expect it to do anything if you don't make some effort yourself. I used it to cut up cardboard boxes to fit in my recycling bin, and it did this very well. It would probably struggle with very heavy duty cardboard, but for standard cardboard it was fine. The big plus with this is that it is rechargeable, and doesn't need batteries. The cordless charging cable adapter plug is slightly odd looking, a 3 pin plug sits atop a transformer unit, 3"x 1.5", which may make it difficult to use in sockets without adequate clearance below. It needs to be charged indoors. One final point. I tried using this in my left hand, and couldn't, I needed to use both hands. Fortunately, I'm right handed.

Works well
Really good cutters. Recently moved house and used these to cut down on the cardboard mountain I've acquired which they coped with ease. Have yet to try fabric but have a load of felt to cut up so I'll give them a go. Nearly gave four stars because they can be heavy too use, which obviously depends on the material your cutting (double thickness cardboard is tough) but if your thinking they will replace scissors if you have mobility issues I would think again because you have to keep a grip on the trigger.

Not suitable for left handers
The cutter itself seems a good tool so my overall rating should be 4/5 stars. I bought it as a present for my partner who is left handed and yes, I should have read all the reviews where I would have learnt that it is practically useless for left handers. Quite why Batavia don't advertise this fact is a mystery. I would have thought a safety button on each side of the handle would have been an easy solution. As it is I now own a cordless cutter.

Won't charge
These cutters are fantastic when they are working.I have mostly used them for cutting fabric as I have arthritis in my hand and found them to be a godsend. However the first pair wouldnt re charge and I bought a new charger and still wouldnt charge..I felt I might have subjected this pair to too much heavy use.Having had such faith in them I purchased a second pair and ensured they were only used for cutting fabric.I now find that these will not recharge either.I dont think I could possibly have done them any damage through overuse. As the battery is not removeable it means that I have to buy another pair of these cutters, This time it will be a brand that has a removeable rechargeable battery.Think twice before buying a set of cutters with locked in battery.

Useful to have
I've been meaning to buy some cordless scissors for a while but couldn't justify the need to buy one. As Christmas was coming up my paper/cardboard wheelie bin was overflowing with Amazon boxes which gave me the excuse I needed to buy one. Usually I would use a Stanley knife or regular scissors to cut cardboard down to smaller pieces and there is nothing wrong with that, just it's a bit of a chore and time consuming. These cordless scissors solved that problem. The box I received looked like it had already been opened (a return perhaps?). Disregarding this, I charged the device up (it comes with a 3 pin plug although the box clearly displays a European 2 pin plug - maybe that's the reason the box appeared to have been opened) and started cutting up the boxes. At the beginning I wasn't too impressed as the cutter was stopping and starting but then I soon realised I wasn't keeping the main trigger depressed. There is a safety button which requires depressing before using the main trigger and for whatever reason I found it difficult to keep both depressed at the same time whilst cutting. After a few goes I realised (and I know it's obvious with hindsight) I could let go of the safety button and just keep the main trigger depressed. The main reason I'm mentioning this is because nearly everyone else who has had a go with these scissors did exactly the same as me and no I didn't read the instructions but simple devices should be intuitive to use. Once I realised I could let go of the safety button the cutting was smooth and fast and pretty good fun. It struggled to cut the thicker cardboard but for the thicker cardboard it's still quicker and less hassle than running a Stanley knife through it a few times. I don't plan on using this on any other material but I can see how useful it would be on any cuttable material. I ended up buying more of these as Christmas presents. Everyone seemed to enjoy cutting up cardboard boxes on Christmas Day and let's face it, if you like shopping on Amazon you'll always need to cut up cardboard boxes whether you use the smaller pieces for composting/mulch or whether you need to be more efficient at filling your wheelie bin.
