Effective and Convenient
This device is a battery powered underwater vacuum cleaner with a rotating rubber brush. It has multiple modes, but the basic mode is to first clean the pool sides and then to clean the pool bottom. It is effective at removing silt and leaves that are then deposited into a basket. It seems less effective at scrubbing algae. The vacuum basket is easily removed from the machine and is easily emptied and then cleaned with a hose. The machine runs until the battery reaches a predetermined charge level (15% I think). Then it stops, showing a red indicator light. It almost always stops at the bottom of the pool wall, but in a somewhat random location along the perimeter. You pull the machine out of the pool with a standard pool pole fitted with a supplied plastic hook. The hook easily engages a slot near the indicator light. It is easy to engage, even at night, due to the proximity of the indicator light. You pull the machine up and let it drain for about 20 seconds while holding it over the pool. Then it can be lowered to the ground. The machine is not lightweight, but is not too difficult to carry. The machine is returned to its charging location (near a socket) and the vacuum basket is emptied and cleaned. Then you plug in the charging cable - this is easy. To start cleaning, you hold the machine just above the water surface along a wall. Turn it on by holding the button by the handle for several seconds. When it beeps it can be dropped into the water and away it goes... As mentioned, it is effective at gathering silt and leaves. A complaint is that the instructions warn not to charge the battery fully. However, the included (free) phone app has no means of controlling the maximum charge level, so it always charges to 100% unless you track the charge and unplug it early. The phone app communicates with the machine and can, for example, set its cleaning mode. Not providing a means to limit charging is out of character with the excellence of the rest of the machine. The full-charge run time of about three hours is more than enough to cover most pools, so an 85% charge limit would still provide ample performance while lengthening battery life. My prior pool vacuum was also electric, but powered by a cable hooked up to a power supply plugged into the house. This worked pretty well, but the local raccoons like to bite the cable for some reason. Eventually (twice), the cable failed due to these bites. A $400 replacement cost took the fun out of such antics. This battery-powered machine solves the raccoon problem!

I love the Aiper Scuba S1!
After 5 months owning the Aiper Scuba S1, I am a huge fan! I changed from a pump driven Polaris vacuum with a connected hose to the Aiper. I will never go back to the old approach. The Aiper is very easy to use. I run it twice per week and it keeps my pool amazingly clean, even through the winter/spring leaf dump and cut grass from mowing. My dogs love our pool and track in dirt and sand which the Aiper picks up amazingly well. I rarely use the fine filter and just wash out the main debris box after each use. My only caution is that the Aiper can be heavy to pull out of the pool when it is full of water but the included hook makes that relatively easy. I highly recommend this product!

Cleans decently for Freeform pool
This does a decent job. I have a freeform pool with concave steps. I still have to brush the sides of the steps and a few other spots. I almost returned it because it does not follow a pattern like it’s supposed to, but it can clean my entire 32x15 pool with one charge, so I decided the pattern doesn’t matter. I set it to clean for 2 hrs on 2 different days, but I couldn’t figure out how to get that setting to work, so I just charge it and throw it in for 4 hours at a time a few days a week. I love that it brushes the sides and bottoms of the pool. I haven’t had to brush in over a month (other than the steps). The filter captures even the finest silt, so my pool has never been cleaner. I would highly recommend for a rectangular pool and recommend for a free form pool if you don’t mind brushing in spots.

Pleasantly surprised going to cordless
I recently picked up the Aiper S1 cordless pool vacuum and have been running it side-by-side (mentally, at least) with my previous Maytronics Dolphin CC+. After spending some time with both, I’ve got a pretty clear take on how they stack up. First off, the biggest standout with the S1 is how well it handles the pool walls. It climbs and cleans them far more effectively than the Dolphin CC+, which always felt a bit hit-or-miss in that department. The S1 also seems to map the pool in a more intelligent way. Where the Dolphin often felt random—just bouncing around and eventually getting the job done—the S1 moves with purpose and covers the pool more methodically. I was initially skeptical about going cordless. I assumed battery power would mean weaker suction or shorter run times, but that hasn’t been the case at all. The S1 easily runs for about 3 hours, which is more than enough for a full clean, and the suction is strong. It consistently picks up a surprising amount of debris, and the included microfilter does an excellent job catching the fine stuff. Speaking of the microfilter—that’s another win for the S1. It comes standard along with the mesh basket, whereas on the Dolphin CC+ it’s an extra add-on. The only downside here is that the S1’s microfilter is a bit more tedious to clean. Not a dealbreaker, just a minor annoyance. One feature I didn’t expect to care much about but now really appreciate is the app. The S1’s app is solid and reliable, and the ECO mode is a great touch. You can set it to run a 45-minute cleaning cycle up to four times per week, which keeps the pool consistently clean with almost no effort. My Dolphin was the non-app version, so this feels like a meaningful upgrade in convenience. Price-wise, the S1 also comes in a couple hundred dollars cheaper, which makes the overall value even better. Bottom line: I’m genuinely impressed with the Aiper S1. Better wall cleaning, smarter navigation, strong battery performance, and useful app features make it feel like a step forward from the Dolphin CC+. The only real tradeoff is slightly more effort cleaning the microfilter—but for me, that’s a small price to pay for the performance and convenience gains.

Stopped working after ten months. Customer Service is yet to be determined. Will update.
Purchased Sept 8, 2025. The unit stopped working June 21, 2026. So, ten (10) months after purchase. The light turns solid blue to indicate a full battery charge, but the power switch does nothing. Because of this the app will not connect to the unit also. At first look, it appears the power switch has failed? Up to this point we have been satisfied with the Scuba S1 (2025). It didn’t do well in corners or on top steps, but apart from that it performed well. Also … it is imperative to make sure the power pins for charging are COMPLETELY dry before charging. The rubber boot does not adequately prevent water from seeping in. I always blow the pins dry prior to plugging in the charger. We returned comparable cleaners that did not perform as well as the Scuba S1. So, again we were satisfied with this cleaner. The unit came with a two year warranty. Customer service was responsive and promised to “create a (repair) ticket,” and send a return label (they pay for shipping) in a second email. So it looks like they plan for me to ship the unit back to them for repair. I’m glad I saved the box “just in case!” I will update this review with the result of Aiper service and repair.

UPDATED REVIEW!!!! of “More frustrating than convenient”
UPDATE: Aiper read my review and immediately reached out with an offer to replace the Scuba S1 with a Scuba X1 unit. I agreed and can I just say I was completely BLOWN AWAY when I received the upgraded unit!! It super exceeded my expectations and works beautifully! And the customer service was INCREDIBLE!!! They were quick to respond and friendly in all communications, made the return of the first unit super simple and the new unit was delivered in a matter of a few days. From my experience, this is a company who genuinely bases their own success on the success and satisfaction of the consumer. I am both grateful and relieved my experience with Aiper turned out to be such a pleasant one. My review is mixed because there are things I like and others I don’t. I love that this pool vacuum is cordless. It’s nice to have a unit that cleans the walls as well as the floor. However our experience with it picking all the debris up effectively has been very disappointing and frustrating. It seems quite a bit of debris is left behind, especially in the area where it starts. It always begins with a full charge, on the floor only setting and by the time it’s out of charge, there is still debris on the floor. I stopped using the wall and floor setting because of the debris left behind. Then you have to pull it out of the pool to recharge it, making the pool cleaning a drawn out process which cuts into your pool enjoyment/swim time. We have a 15,000 gal pool which is supposedly covered by this series. We ordered this vacuum based on the reviews we had read prior…but I would not purchase this one again. It may be less expensive than others. But in my opinion the frustration is not worth the “savings”.

Works great!
I had a Polaris which I was so tired of constantly repairing. So far I have gotten so much time back by using this robot. I have only used it spring-summer to pick up debris, dirt that accumulates. It runs for about 3 hours and pretty much gets it all. It goes all the way up the walls, I even use it in the spa area. It needs to be charged so I have to plan ahead before using it. It’s heavy to lug from the outlet to the pool. I know they sell carriers. Getting it out of the pool is easy with the hook they provide but also difficult if you have a bad back or shoulder .. you have to lift it out of the pool and carry it back to the outlet. It is already heavy then you have the added weight of water and debris. Then it suggests you immediately hose all the debris out of it. I don’t mind this so much in the summer but you will get wet doing this. I still prefer this over the Polaris constantly needing repairs but it has its drawbacks. I have had it for a few months, so far it is working great!

Customer Service and product reliability
September 8, 2025 we paid over $550. It worked fine until the end of April. My husband follow the directions on care. There is only two us in this household. We started having a problem with it and called customer service line followed the instructions but it’s still did not work. We were told to send the product back and we would get it back in 2 to 3 weeks that was not acceptable because we wanted to keep our pool clean the vendor said they would provide us with another cleaner and it would be sent out immediately which they did not. It took over 3 1/2 weeks to get another cleaner.when we unpacked the box it was a rebuilt model and there was no filter we had to wait another week and a half because of the holiday. I did got an apology from the company for the late response . I was told that they were more reactive to customer concerns and they are going to honor the two-year warranty. I am satisfied this resolution and the product and hopefully I don’t have to return the product again. I’m giving them another try since I did like the product
