Russell Hobbs Darwin Kettle, 1.7 Litre, 2200 W, Cream

Great kettle and great service from the seller. The kettle is a basic one, meaning that it boils and switches off automatically and that's it. It does however boil extremely fast. The lid is a touch fiddly as there's no push button to release it, you have give it a slight yank and it's open. Also you cannot stop the kettle from boiling by pressing the on/off, you have to take it off the base or let it boil till the end. Nevertheless a nice looking kettle. We got the cream one which is more like a very delicate butter colour more than cream but that's just my perception.

Bought as an urgent buy when my kettle went kaput. I was amazed at the price. Expected cheap looking plastic to use til I bought a proper one but it is really good. Has a massive capacity and is still really light. Don't be put off by the thin base. It actually is very sturdy and boils very fast. I haven't replaced it with a 'better one . That's how impressed I am.

Ordered kettle as mine was on it's way out, and I would have given it 5 stars except for heating element which I thought was enclosed. But, the kettle boils quickly and is not as noisy as the reviews say it is and has a quiet switch off. It's a nice squat kettle that arrived very quickly, well packaged and just does the job it was meant to do. Would buy again.

Great kettle. Had it a few months with no problems. It boils quick. It does drip a bit at the spout, but only a little drop or two occasionally, and the power base is angled down so it would never reach it anyway. I've had a £50 kettle once that was terrible. It could be difficult to open the lid for someone with a disability, or arthritis, so I wouldn't buy it for my Granny. I'm a relatively young male and it's perfect for me. Absolute bargain.

I brought this because I wanted to get rid of my black kettle to brighten the kitchen up. This was a good make kettle at a very low cost. Well when I took it out of the box I thought it was a hotel kettle. The style looks very cheap, the hold feels cheap and overall it's just not Overly fabulous. Don't get me wrong for the job of boiling water it does do the job but slightly slower than previous kettles. There is no switch it's a push button underneath the handle so it's not designed in the most practical of ways. I'm still using it as it does work and does the job but I can't see it staying in the kitchen very long as it looks very cheap and doesn't do the brand name much justice.

Standard, inexpensive kettle which nicely matched my other red kitchen accessories. Purchased and delivered within 24hrs as previous expensive kettle died after 13 months use of which the base never disconnected properly from the kettle. This Russell Hobbs kettle, heats quickly and releases very easily from its base. It's quite noisy when coming to the boil; however, I think it's well worth the price and would recommend.

Needed a new kettle as a supermarkets own brand had given up rather quickly. This was a reasonable price for a known name make (which I was very much looking for this time) Perhaps it's one down side, or point of note, is that there is no button opening for the lid, but manually opening does allow it to fully open, and so makes it possible to get the whole kettle directly under the tap, rather than angled underneath. Makes it much easier to see how much water you have put in. Boils quick enough for me. A slightly lightweight feel to this apparently all plastic kettle. Time will tell if it lasts, but impressed enough for the money so far.
