New customer and will repeat
Im always looking for a product with less chemicals and more natural ingredients. I don't need nor want the fluoride in my toothpaste and I love the activated charcoal. I thought I would give the Vital Nutrient Hyperboloids a try. First, I dont mind the taste. Others have commented on having to adjust to it, I prepared myself but did not find it unpleasant at all. Thats my own experience. I also love the fact it is not oversaturated with mint. There is spearmint in this which is preferrable to me instead of peppermint, which is to strong for me. I developed a rash on my jaw and chin line that would not go away even after visiting my dermatologist who prescribed a topical medication, but it persisted. I just began looking at my products, which are minimal, and my toothpaste (at that time) had peppermint, not spearmint. I purchased this brand and yes, that was my problem. The breakouts went away. This may not be an issue with everyone, but peppermint is to strong for me. So, I got an added bonus with this brand. So many brands are using peppermint, what a shame. Overall, I like the freshness, the minimal and more natural ingredients, this gives me no teeth sensitivity. (remember, brush lightly) I will be a repeat customer

Fantastic toothpaste
I wanted to try a different xylitol toothpaste other than one I’d been using and found this. I’ve been using it for about 1.5 weeks. At first, it took some getting used to because the flavor is just essential oils and not really sweet, but now that I’ve grown accustomed to the taste, this really is my favorite toothpaste now. It leaves my mouth and teeth feeling so clean and has all but eliminated any bad breath I had. Another bonus is I notice substantial whitening in just the short time I’ve been using it. I have a gorgeous smile with this and will continue to purchase it. One drawback is it can make a bit of a mess of your sink, but that’s almost too minor to even mention. I will say, if you’re used to traditional toothpastes with foaming detergents, this will be an adjustment since it has zero foaming, but it’s so much better for you and incredibly effective at getting to the root of any oral health problems rather than simply masking them. Love it.

First Impression: 3 star (will update)
*UPDATE* You get used to the taste of the toothpaste after a couple uses and it really does leave my mouth feeling super clean. I've noticed a very clear difference in the whiteness of my teeth so I am giving this product a four star review. Still, would I repurchase this product for the price? I don't know yet. I just used this for the first time and I have taken away 2 stars so far because of two reasons: 1. When I opened the tube and removed the seal, I had to squeeze harder than normal to get any product out. For a brand new product, this shouldn't be the case. I realized that there is quite a bit of air in the tube which means it is not completely full of product. Therefore I'd be interested to know if my tube has the labeled amount of product, especially for a $14 toothpaste. 2. The taste is nowhere near "mint". The smell has a hint of mint, so really a hint is all you get when tasting it. In reality I was very surprised to find an unpleasant taste. If I could pinpoint the taste I would call it a mix of dirt/soil + moldy-mildew taste. No joke...no exaggeration, a legit dirt/mold taste. It was very shocking and unexpected. I'm not picky and I actually love odd flavors..I've had anise, chai, and basil flavored pastes in the past. This is a very earthy taste but in a very unpleasant way. I'm not sure if overtime I will get used to it. It doesn't foam up at all and it's very thin. This means that it's different to brush with and it sprays black/grey liquid all over your sink when you spit. So far my teeth feel very clean so I can't complain about the job it did cleaning my teeth. My mouth feels very fresh and the only taste that thankfully stayed was that hint of mint I mentioned. I paid $14 for this toothpaste so you bet I'll keep using it. I will update my review when I can further review the product after a good while of use. So far based on the taste, air in the tube, and the price I would most likely not buy again.

Never going back to typical toothpaste!
This toothpaste is amazing! So kind of a long story, but I was having some serious issues with my teeth. While I take care of them pretty well (I don't smoke, get cleanings, etc), they just weren't looking as white as I wanted them to, and weirdly, I was having some serious dragon breath that I just couldn't seem to shake. I had looked at a bunch of different options, tried all the typical things like whitening strips and mouthwash, but then my dentist told me that my enamel is naturally weaker or something? Apparently, it's a genetic thing? And all that mouthwash and whitening strips were a no-go for me. Plus I'm also trying to be careful about what I put in my body, so I really wanted to find a natural alternative. Just one problem...a lot of the natural things I tried just didn't work that well. Fast forward to a couple of weeks ago. I was googling for some info about natural oral health (and getting really freaked out about triclosan!!) and I saw this toothpaste, so I thought I'd give it a try. I really liked how it had xylitol and activated charcoal, since I had come across a couple of studies showing how the first actually kills the type of bacteria that causes bad breath, and the second kind of acts like a whitening magnet to pull the bad stuff off your teeth, and after going down a little bit of a research rabbit hole, I got really interested in how the L. paracasei in it might help. Apparently scientists have found that it crowds out the bad bacteria in your mouth so they can't do as much damage. Told you I went down a research rabbit hole :) To be honest, I wasn't expecting to see that much of a difference. But hey, their other things seem really science-backed and what did I have to lose? All I can say is WOW. My teeth look amazing, much whiter than I expected after such a short time, and my breath is back to normal –– no more using mouthwash after every meal, no more wondering if people are thinking about it while I'm talking to them. I don't know what was going on in my mouth, but thank God that it's taken care of now! Now I've got my whole family using it. The kids love it because it turns their teeth black … and I like that it's healthy for them and flavored like normal toothpaste so they'll actually use it. Hyperbiotics, if you guys read these, you've got a customer for life!

Didn’t do much for me
After just finishing up this tube, I see little difference in the whiteness of my teeth and my mouth always felt kind of gross after a two or three hours after using this. At night I used this and Now’s OralBiotic and my mouth felt fresh in the morning, but after experimenting, it was from the OralBiotic not the toothpaste. If I just used the toothpaste, my mouth felt super gross in the morning so I don’t think the probiotic part works too well. I’m no stranger to natural, and not great tasting, products and this wasn’t the worst thing, but it definitely wasn’t good. I’m going back to my Jason Soothing Coconut and Chamomile toothpaste (mostly organic, tastes great, and great for balancing your oral biome!). Overall I had high hopes for this stuff but was not impressed!

Chemical free and bright teeth
I purchased this product and have purchased it multiple times since. I prefer to use chemical free products and found this to be an excellent toothpaste with no chemicals yet still provides me with the whitening effect that I like. I do not use any other toothpaste now and in fact, my children now use it. It doesn’t taste offensive at all, despite its black color. The only disadvantage is that it does Stain your sink. The stains are not permanent. They are just more noticeable since the toothpaste is black rather than white so you just need to rinse your sink more frequently. That’s not necessarily bad thing. Highly recommend this product with the advantage of the probiotics it’s a win-win.

Show and Tell with my Dentist
I feel that this toothpaste does an incredible job. I used it for about a month before my last dental appointment as an experiment. I also brought it into my dentist to see what she had to say about it. In my experience, my teeth felt very clean. This toothpaste did a good job getting rid of that rough coating that starts to develop on your teeth (I'm sure there is a technical term - no idea what it is). The flavor is very subtle - which is fine for me - I don't need my toothpaste to taste like a bowl of candy. I must admit that the first couple of times I used this, I did pause before putting the black toothpaste into my mouth. Completely psychological weirdness on my part, but quickly got over it. Then I thought I would try to gross out my wife with it. Sadly she didn't want to play. So, off to the dentist with toothpaste in hand to play show-and-tell. Overall she was very happy with the condition of my teeth (no cavities! and very easy clean from the hygienist). I showed her the toothpaste to get her opinion. She was very excited about the Xylitol and happily explained why. We both agreed that my teeth had whitened up a shade or two. She assured me too that based on what she saw in the ingredients and upon examination of my teeth, that this toothpaste wasn't doing any damage. I was a little worried that it might be too abrasive, but she said that wasn't the case. She wasn't ready to commit to the potential efficacy of the probiotic aspect but did understand what they were getting at. The one issue she had was that it didn't have fluoride. Ultimately, she suggested that I use my regular fluoride toothpaste in the evening, before bed, to give the fluoride a chance to set up on my teeth overnight and use this in the morning. A reasonable compromise? She indicated that the "other" toothpaste I use wouldn't disrupt the bacterial load this one was trying to establish. All-in-all, I have had a good experience with this toothpaste and continue to use it - but for my morning brush leaving the evening to my traditional sensitive teeth fluoridated toothpaste. This has the added benefit of doubling the life of the tube, which is still a bit on the expensive side.

This product may harm enamel, the probiotics you are paying for are deactivated, not cheap, and could impact hormone levels.
Putting aside the taste and consistency, the combination of ingredients makes no sense. I reached out to the company over a week ago, asking for an explanation before writing this and got no real response, only a let me ask the product development team and get back to you. Diatomaceous earth (DE) fossilized remains of diatoms. The hardness scale rating of DE is unclear, ranging from 1.5 to 7 depending on where you look and who you trust. Dental enamel is somewhere between 3-4. My dentist said I could use it to polish my teeth occasionally, but not daily. That when I use DE on my teeth leaves them feeling smooth and shiny leaves me to believe DE is harder than dental enamel. Translation: I think my dentist is correct in so far as DE used regularly will damage your enamel. What I take most issue with is the probiotics, coupled with Tea Tree Oil, and possibly the activated carbon. Tea Tree oil is such a strong antiseptic that the NIH has declared it effective against MRSA. It kills lactobacillus at concentrations of 1-2%. Trace amounts regularly have demonstrated negative estrogenic effects on hormones to boot. Translation: Tea Tree oil could be giving me low T. At levels of 1-2%, it would kill off the probiotics I'm pay for in this toothpaste, but in the manufacturers defense it might keep the toothpaste from carrying other dangerous pathogens. The manufacturer claims the probiotics in the product are deactivated. Then what's the point? And activated carbon potentially could absorb the tea tree oil, rendering it harmless, but then what's the point? Bottom Line: This product may appear to work well as a polish, but it may harm enamel, the probiotics you are paying for are deactivated (dead?), It's not cheap, and the tea tree oil very well could impact hormone levels.

It's one of the best toothpaste that I've ever used.
It has a soft taste, clears teeth very well, does not nip the tongue, suits kids and has a lovely strict tube design. I would love to order more, but they're out of stock.
