Unexpectedly fantastic fidget/sensory toy
I bought this chain to clean my cast iron pan but when I took it out of the box and felt the chains, I just couldn't stop fidgeting with it! The chain drapes flows across your fingers like heavy cloth. The links are smooth without sharp edges. I imagine this is what a comfortable chainmail is supposed to feel like. I haven't been able to actually try it on my cast iron because I keep fidgeting with it at my desk. I may just have to buy a 2nd one to actually use for cleaning and keep one for fidgeting. Update: After using it for scrubbing my cast iron, I found it works great! It's not the sharpest compared to other chain scrubbers but it's perfect for my uses. I don't burn that much food on my cast iron so it's easy to scrub clean with this chain. It's also gentle enough that I can use it on my carbon steel wok for some tougher spots.

When you need to do some serious scrubbing
This is a quality product, and I can see it lasting a lifetime. I had botched seasoning a carbon steel pan, leaving it with some severely burned on oil. This scrubber saved the day, though it took a lot of elbow grease to get to the point of starting over. with a fresh surface. Even with all the grunting and scrubbing, this product came out looking brand new. As for the plastic pan and grill scrapers, I haven't tried them. The scrubber alone is worth the money.

***MUST HAVE FOR CAST IRON COOKWARE***
How did I ever live without the metal mesh tool to clean cast iron cookware. The plastic tools are nice, but the mesh tool is absolutely wonderful. It cleans your cookware super good. Note: Cleaning it can be tricky bc of all the grease. What I found is that if you spray it with a Powerwash Dish Spray and let it sit for a minute, the grease is immediately removed. This tool is a must have if you cook with cast iron cookware. Highly recommend.

Sustainable Alternative to Steel Wool Pads -- Can Lightly Scratch Some Materials
The fine chain mail scrubber is flexible and lightweight, making it easy to use. The plastic scrapers are a nice shape for grates and curved pans. Hang this scrubber by its ring and put it in the DW for easy clean up! It's effective removing burnt food, but not truly "anti-scratch". I'd use it on cast iron, oven racks, and grill grates, but you may see fine scratches if you clean porcelain, stainless, or glass with the metal scrubber (plastic scrapers are okay on all of the above). Heed the instructions. FYI! Scratched glass cookware can explode in the oven or microwave, so it's not safe for Pyrex, possibly Corningware, etc. I'm not sure about enamel. Similar scrubbers are advertised as okay for stainless pans. It says this is okay for dishes, but if you don't want to risk scratches, go with something else. I've had great success using this technique for stainless pans and Corningware with burnt-on food: -- Mist with hydrogen peroxide. -- Let sit while you have dinner. -- Scrub with a good quality paper towel dampened and sprinkled with Bar Keepers Friend. I prefer the powder version, but the liquid is best if you are scratch-averse. The hydrogen peroxide loosens stuck food and disinfects. The Bar Keepers Friend polishes stainless. Rarely need to do more than that -- my 10+ year old pots look quite new.

Favorite Chainmail Scrubber That I Have Used
I've tried a few chainmail scrubbers before this one but all the chain links were too big and they didn't work well. Not enough surface area contact. This one has very small links and works great. The links are so small that it almost feels like cold silk against the skin. I also really like the key ring attached to it. I put one of my fingers through the ring while cleaning so I never accidently drop it and as an added bonus it's perfect to hang it from to dry it out. Was the quality I was looking for and at a very good price.

Gotta have if you use cast iron cookware
Great for cleaning food residue from cast iron pans without scraping off the seaoning. Also works well cleaning residue from inside bottles and jars. Just drop it inside with a little dish detergent and water and swirl and shake.
