One of the Best Upgrades I've Made to My Pool
I don't usually write reviews for pool equipment, but this is one of those products that actually does exactly what it claims to do. After installing it, I noticed an improvement in my pool's surface cleaning almost immediately. My pool tends to collect leaves, pollen, insects, and other floating debris throughout the day, especially after storms. Before using the Cyclone, a lot of that debris would drift right past the skimmer unless it happened to float directly over the opening. The funnel design completely changes the way water is pulled into the skimmer by increasing the effective collection area. Instead of waiting for debris to slowly make its way to the skimmer, it now gets pulled in much more efficiently. What impressed me most is that it continues to work well even when the pool's water level changes. In Florida, heavy rain can raise the water level quickly, and I was concerned that it might reduce the skimmer's effectiveness. That hasn't been the case at all. The Cyclone continues directing surface debris toward the skimmer whether the water is slightly above or below its normal operating level. Installation couldn't have been easier. It simply drops into place, requires no tools, and was ready to go in less than a minute. Once installed, I honestly forgot it was there because it requires virtually no maintenance beyond emptying the skimmer basket like normal. Another thing I noticed is that the skimmer creates a much more visible surface current. You can actually watch leaves, pollen, and small debris being drawn from farther away instead of just floating aimlessly around the pool. It's surprisingly satisfying to watch, and it gives me confidence that the skimmer is working much more efficiently than before. The build quality is excellent as well. The plastic feels thick and durable, not flimsy, and it has held up well to constant sun exposure, pool chemicals, and daily use. It looks like something that should last for many seasons. For such a simple product, the improvement is remarkable. If you've ever been frustrated by debris collecting on the surface of your pool or feel like your skimmer just isn't pulling enough water, this is a very inexpensive upgrade that delivers noticeable results. It's one of those products that makes you wonder why it isn't included with every pool skimmer from the factory. I would absolutely buy it again and have already recommended it to friends with pools.

Big Impact for a Small Upgrade
This clever little device made a surprisingly noticeable improvement in my poolโs surface cleanliness. Itโs a simple upgrade, but one I now consider essential. ๐ช๏ธ Turbocharges Surface Debris Removal The Cyclone creates a vortex that pulls in leaves, bugs, and other floating debris faster and more efficiently, as shown in the "before and after" comparison on page 3. Within just a few hours of installing it, I noticed a clear differenceโthe pool surface was cleaner with less effort from my side. ๐ ๏ธ Quick Installation, No Tools Required It couldnโt have been easier to install. You just set it on top of your skimmer basket (basket not included), and it immediately begins improving the water flow pattern. As shown on page 3, you simply measure the outer diameter of your basket to pick the correct 6", 7", or 8" version. ๐ Works at Any Water Level The 8โ funnel design works regardless of pool water level fluctuations, which is a huge plus during hot weeks or rainy days when levels rise and fall unpredictably . It helps maintain suction power and surface skimming even when conditions change. ๐ง No Moving Parts, All Results There are no complicated mechanisms to deal withโjust a smart shape that boosts performance. No clogging, no maintenance. It even helped relieve pressure on my pool pump by improving surface water intake speed. โ Pros: Dramatically improves surface debris removal Simple drop-in installationโno tools needed Works with various pool water levels Durable, single-piece molded plastic โ Cons: You need to measure your basket carefully before ordering Skimmer basket not included Overall: The Skimmie Cyclone is one of those smart, low-cost upgrades that makes a visible difference. Great for reducing manual skimming and keeping your pool looking fresh with less daily work.

Works as advertised but I have mixed feelings
This is an interesting product for sure, and it does work, but not as well as I would have hoped. Let's start with the good. When properly installed it will cause a vortex to form in your skimmer basket. This serves a couple of practical purposes. First it allows you to run your skimmer at a lower flow rate and still suck debris down into the basket. This allows me to divert more suction to my auto pool vac. Secondly, and more importantly, the vortex allows the skimmer to easily suck in the dust and light debris that floats on thr top of the water that just has a tendency to float at the top of your skimmer and not get sucked down. The product works well and accomplishes both of those goals. However, this is not without drawbacks. Most notably, it requires removal of the flap found in most skimmers, otherwise the vortex will flat out just not form, or in my case, when the product is installed upright it physically touches and interferes with the operation of the flap. This is a bit problematic because this flap is there for a reason, to effectively concentrate the skimmers suction to thr top most layer of water, to maximize the range it is able to suck in debris from the top of the pool. To you know, skim the surface. While the vortex does help contract this somewhat, the effect is that objects must get much closer to the skimmer to actually get sucked in. However, it does solve my problem of removing the fine dust particles that tend to float on thr top of the water which was the major reason I bought it. One other thing to note is that at least for my pool, I can only really make use of this product in the up right position. I'm sure that like most pool products this was probably made with larger in ground pools skimmers in mind where mine is an above ground. The result is that when this product is placed in my basket cone down, it's really difficult to get it to form a proper cyclone. The water level is either too high, but if I lower it, the cyclone will form but it then has a tendency to suck in air because the water level ends up so low in my skimmer that any waves in the pool drop the water level in the skimmer to dangerously low levels. But again, I think this has more to do with the design of my particular basket. Over all it works as advertised, but it's not the pancea I was hoping it would be. Solved one problem but caused another.

Works, hereโs a few things to know
This is definitely doing what they say Itโs going to do. The wedge that they give you to keep the skimmer door open doesnโt work for me, it kept coming undone. I just took the skimmer door out. (most of them are tension mounted like a curtain tension rod so they are easy to take out.) If you use it pointing down instead of up, I have found you do not need to zip tie it to the basket. Itโs kind of hard to get leaves out when you have to keep cutting a zip tie. You really only need to use zip ties if youโre doing it pointed up and if when your pool comes on you notice that it didnโt reseat itself properly. The only things I donโt like about it is that it only took 1-2 weeks for the plastic to start getting a little more opaque as itโs starting to turn a cloudy slightly whiter plastic. And the issue with some people needing to zip tie the top to the basket, would make it harder to get the contents out of the basket without having to re-zip tie every time

Great product!!
Amazing product. My 1.65 HP pool pump died and I went with a 1.1 HP to save a bit on the electrical bill and my pool isn't that big so I was told it would be just fine and it is but it just hasn't been skimming the amount of water it did with the bigger pump so my pool would have debris on the top floating and wouldn't skim fast enough. The pool surface would be flat and any debris that came near the skimmer would sometimes not even get pulled in. I contemplated calling the pool company and switching the pump back to a 1.65 hp and that would have cost me even more money. I took a chance on this product and immediately it started working as described. The amount of water entering the skimmer now and getting filtered has my pool looking great. The pool surface doesn't look flat anymore as if the pump wasn't even running but you can see the ripples on the surface of the pool indicating that the water is moving around. I no longer believe I have to switch the pump back to the original HP which would not only cost me more money but increase my electrical bill a bit again. The water is clean on the surface again and I only go out there with the net if I'm having people over just to make sure the pool is spotless but really don't even have to do that at all. Also, my prior "vortex enhancing skimmer gadget" would only work if I had enough water in the pool. If the pool got low, as it does here alot in Florida due to evaporation, it would not work and I would have to go out there and add water to the pool to get it to the level to make it work again. With this one, I can just flip it upside down when the water gets a bit low and it will work just as good, eliminating the need to add water to the pool that I would normally just get with a good afternoon rain storm here. I'm really happy with this product.

Incredibly effective, it makes cleaning the skimmer basket so much easier!
This is fantastic. I love how quickly it works to put the leaves and debris into the basket and keep it there. This makes keeping the pool pump filter more clean. It works great and any negative reviews are from users that donโt understand how to use this. Itโs really simple and straight forward - if your pool level is 3โ or more above the skimmie (when upright) then use it installed that way and it works great and improves the suction from the pump. If your pool line is lower than 3โ, install it in the reverse, or upside down - it will also create suction, but not as much. Itโs incredibly sturdy and stays put. Note - you need a filter basket that has a flat rim and sits appropriately in place - I had to buy a new, weighted basket since my original has a handle that extends toward the opening of the skimmer lid. I have added two videos showing how the skimmie works. If you monitor your poolโs levels, it will be perfect.

Works, but maybe too well...
I'll just say, the cyclone works very well, but maybe too well. It generates a very strong cyclone that will suck a small child down the drain (I'm kidding). However, it also introduces a lot of air that gets sucked into the system. This puts more pressure and strain on the pump to get to purge it. The air never gets completely purged. I followed the directions and filled the pool to where the level was 3 inches above the top of the cyclone, placed it where the top of the cone was facing up and turned on the pump. Immediately air got into the system and the pump kept trying to purge it. I waited a good 15 minutes to see if it would do so but the air never completely left the system. I took out the cyclone and the system purged itself of the air. Next I placed the cyclone with the top facing down. It still generated air in the system, but also the cyclone strength was about the same level as it is without it. I had the proper size, too, but there was no way to use this where it didn't introduce air into the system. Sadly, I'll have to return it.

Noticeable flow increase
Easy to install and durable plastic. It worked as described. It did noticeably increase flow but I'm not sure I would describe it as a "turbocharger". Does the job, but don't expect miracles. It was satisfying to see the water circling the filter with greater velocity.

It actually works!? Wow
The Skimmie Cyclone - Turbo Charges Pool Skimmer Basket Water Flow - Improves Pool Surface Cleaning & Debris Removal - Pool Accessories & Pool Skimmer 7" Funnel Design Works with Any Pool Water Level This isn't a gimmick. Seems to work quite well for me. Super simple hack to make your water flow in to skimmer more efficient. Impressed. Instantly see results. See my video demonstration. I like that it's a separate piece from my skimmer basket. I can opt to use it or not , quickly. The wedge helps to permanently keep the skimmer door flap open wide to increase flow drastically. It needs to be wedged in good else the flap will get free and the wedge will float out. Overall a pretty cool product. Get your pool filtered thru quicker with this cyclone. Works !!!!! (Ps; measure your skimmer basket size before buying. 7" vs 8")
