Amazing Geiger Counter For The Price Point
Just as the title says, it's an amazing Geiger Counter for the price point. I needed a pancake tube Geiger Counter for alpha detection and this gets the job done wonderfully. It's got a wonderful UI (multiple options on how to display the text and a screen that rotates to fit current orientation), a solid amount of detection customization (including voltage adjustment and accuracy requirements), and even wifi connectivity to upload live data to a server (I don't need it specifically but it's a nice feature to have). You could of course go for something like a Gamma Scout if you need more precision and more detection features. But you'd then be paying double and likely waiting a lot longer to receive it (they were on backorder last time I checked). This however arrived 5 days after I ordered it. Overall, it's a solid detector with a lot of great features, customization, and solid quality for a very affordable price. I'm definitely going to be looking to GQ for any future detector needs.

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING PRODUCT!!!
I had a Geiger counter the 500+, and I decided to upgrade to the 600 though it might be thicker and larger slightly heavier the quality of this machine, and it’s cap capabilities is absolutely absolutely outstanding!!! Where my 500+ would only partial counts on the radiation levels on Uranium glass glass and uranium glaze along with radium, the 600+ shows everything and the numbers increased tenfold!!! It’s unreal to realize how much I was missing and not knowing the count per minute of radiation that I was receiving before I had the counter now I can store everything safely and appropriately! I happen to notice how durable this product is as well. I accidentally dropped my Geiger counter and thought it would truly break, but it held up 4 foot drop to concrete no issues.!!! Very impressive along with the battery life I’ve had this Geiger counter for months and my batteries still not to half!!! it comes with chargers and everything you need with the radiation level chart overall and an amazing product and will definitely recommend this to anybody!!!

Love it
I use this device to test radiation in areas. I’m visiting such as Death Valley or Vegas or groom Lake and it really works high-quality heavy duty and it never fails me.

Many features.
I am a "Radiation Worker" in the U.S. so I work with a variety of radiation detection equipment and radioactive sources. So far I am very happy with this GC. I have not been able to measure the accuracy yet as I haven't brought it to my company's Cobalt source used for calibration. Once I have done that I will update my review. I like the variety of features and the display. I like that this unit has a Dosimeter feature and the next time I am in the field I will compare the readings of this unit with our "pencil" dosimeters. I will also compare this unit to our survey meters. -The battery life is amazing. I left the unit on all day and the battery life was still at 98%. Very impressive. -You can choose units in mR/hour (what we use in the U.S.) or uSv/hour which is more European. -The fact that this unit can detect Alpha, Beta, Gamma, and X-ray is awesome. So far I have only been able to test Gamma and Alpha, I will follow up when I have X-ray exposure. I don't have a Beta source available to me at this time. -On the con side, I wish the unit were more ruggedized. I definitely believe if I drop this unit from any height It will break. Some sort of optional "otter box" would be a nice addition. - The user interface is not very intuitive at first, but once you play with it for a bit you will get the hang of it. -I wish the unit had a belt clip or some way to attach the unit to the body.

It is accurate and performs it's function as advertised
I have had the unit for about a month now. It is very sensitive, much more so than the GMC-500+ which I previously purchased. This is most likely owed to the US Made LND-7317 pancake tube that is used for detection. The housing is a but bulky, but understandable for the tube that is enclosed within it. But, the plastic shell could use to be ruggedized more like other meters on the market. User interface is a bit clunky, but it works after some experimentation. Software interface for a PC is the same. The battery that comes with the unit was a complete disappointment, for the price paid a better 18750 battery could have been included. One of the first things that I did was to change out the stock, unprotected, 2,000 mAh Lithium Ion battery with a 3,400 mAh protected version (built in PCB to prevent over charge/discharge). With this change the meter runs easily for 12 hours continuous without showing a dent in its battery level displayed (it could probably go several days without a problem with this battery swap). Question is, why provide something at this price point with such a cheap, unprotected, low capacity battery when better ones are available for just a bit more? The other thing is the software downloads.. The "Pro" version of GQ Data Logger Pro will not register even when you provide the serial number of the meter as stated in the instructions, you are basically stuck in demo mode from what I've seen thus far (and I tried multiple times over a month to register with no avail).

Very nice unit. Well made. Sensitive to radiation.
The GQ GMC-600+ is a nice unit that's easy to use. The readings are easy to read. It also includes "Low," "Moderate," and "High" warnings based on the CPM reading. It would be nice if they provided a carrying case or protective boot. If you drop it on a hard surface, I doubt the plastic case will survive. I compared the GMC-600+ CPM reading with an S.E. International Ranger Alert reading with both of them flat on a granite countertop. The readings were essentially the same. I bought a uranium ore sample to use for testing/demonstration. It came in a metal container with a certification document from "Images SI Inc." stating that they tested the sample and measured 1,682 CPM using their GCA-07W geiger counter. To avoid contamination, I left the sample in its plastic bag while I tested it with my S.E International Ranger Alert and my GQ GMC-600+. Both the Ranger and the GMC-600+ have open windows with pancake detectors. Here are my results: Ranger readings: Direct contact with the plastic bag = 9,400 CPM Separated by a piece of paper = 6,400 CPM With plastic cap covering detector hole = 1,650 GQ GMC-600+ Direct contact with the plastic bag = 6,700 The Ranger has a fine grid over the detector opening. The GMC-600+ has a plastic mesh covering a screen. So the sample was about 5 mm further from the GM tube and partially covered by the plastic grid. My conclusion is that both the GMC-600+ and the Ranger are much more sensitive than the GCA-07W. The Ranger is the most sensitive probably due to the fine mesh protector and the proximity of the grid to the GM tube.

This thing is a TANK and the most sensitive Geiger for this price.
My favorite part of this device is that the battery lasts for so long that even using it a hour or two a day, I didn’t charge it for an entire month. The only better radiation detector is the AlphaHound AB+G but that is $200 more than this. The Radiacode is great and I own one but only for spectroscopy. This device is what I take for hunting radioactive antiques. (Although since the Radiacode is small, I bring it too lol) oh and I have dropped this thing a dozen times. On rocks and other surfaces, the batteries fell out once lol but it’s still working flawless! Be careful to not let anything like the pancake probe though, I’ve heard on all devices they are sensitive so just be mindful.

The tip of the “GMC” spear
This product truly does everything you’d want it to, the battery life is truly incredible, yes it’s bulky, but it can be wore on a belt and transported quite easily, the case is plenty adequate for padding and usability. If you’re looking for the best all in one pancake, I don’t think you’ll be let down, note the beta response when taking measurements, as it performs extraordinary with radium but, with any pancake, has less ability with pure alpha sources

Contatore geiger misura solo radiazioni ionizzanti del decadimento radioattivo
Contatore geiger eccellente, sonda davvero sensibilissima. I tempi di misurazione richiedono qualche minuto di campionamento, ma restituisce risultati davvero ottimi ed affidabili

Great quality
It works great. Shows about 700-900CPM (α,β,γ) on my uranium glassware. My GMC-300E+ showed about 70CPM (β,γ). A pretty hefty device and feels well made. Also came with a belt pouch.

Prix surfait et frais de douane en plus
Appareil ok, mais le prix à été surfait (pensant les frais de douane inclus) mais les frais de douane étaient en plus et exagérés!
