A stranger online. Dark hair and even darker eyes that knew my dirty desires before I did. A fantasy that should never be spoken. But he pulled the confession from me. And now he’s coming for me.Rough. Dirty. Dangerous. It’s supposed to be one night to get me off and make me forget. He’ll make me his and I’ll pretend I don’t want him to.I’ll run and he’ll chase. Because I asked him for this.I begged him for this.Tonight, in the darkness, he’s the hunter. And I’m the bait. Review: WOW !!!! Read this book !!!!!!!!! - Oh my - this book !!! This is Jade West at her very best as far as I'm concerned. I LOVED it and more. Jade's writing is always good and I love the way she can mix the very dark/erotic with the light and bring a sprinkle of romance and love into the story. Dirty as hell, scary and shocking, yet exciting and tempting as chocolate when on a diet. It lures and teases you, leaves you drooling and the pull is like a magnet which whittles away your willpower and in the end you just give in to the desire, the want, the need. Yes Jade knows how to drag you into a story like no other, lets just say not a lot got done in my house while I was reading this !! I never thought she would ever top the Dirty Bad books because they were a first for me in that sort of genre and yes she loves to shock and I LOVE her for shocking me. I admire her adventure, I love the way her mind works and I can never wait to read her books when she brings a new one out. You can feel that she has put her heart and soul into this story and the characters and it worked so well. Abigail has a past she has run from and is lost and alone in her head. She is looking for some danger and thrills when she answers an add online that might just see her get her wish. "Phoenix Burning" is her choice but unbeknownst to her Phoenix is dealing with some epic S*** from his dark and dangerous past as well, as she soon finds out. Be prepared for the ride of your life with these two fascinating characters !!! I swear my heart was in my mouth whilst reading these two complex characters created by Jade. This author does top the scale when she writes her leading men and she never fails to delight, shock, suprise and make me squirm when you read her books. There were times I wanted to be Abigail, to feel what she was experiencing with Phoenix who is the most luscious, sexy, dirty, dangerous beast you have ever read (fanning myself) So if you are a Jade West fan you are going to LOVE this one. If your new to Jade and want to be taken out of your comfort zone, fell your heart beat just a little faster, be taken into the world of the dark and dangerous, then this book is the one to do it - read it - NOW because it is a brilliant piece of work from this formidable author. Review: Intriguing storyline - This was a good story. I liked the interesting storyline, how the characters met, meet up and the whole bait/monster scenario. It’s something new and intriguing. They were very daring in their endeavours and luckily they didn’t get caught out in at least not out in the open. Main characters Abigail and Leo, both have dark/sad back stories, Leo’s family drama almost leads to more tragedy for him. But a good HEA eventually.

Might work for you if you're into consensual rape fantasies
Blurb isn't clear about TWs. Some of the potentially most disturbing ones include (but are not limited to) consensual rape fantasies; stalking; miscarriage; consensual activities likely to cause genital, anal or soft palette and epiglottal damage; death in an arson incident and slut shaming. Other than that, it's a fairly standard love story with an inevitable HEA ending, following a very predictable plot twist/obstacle for the couple to overcome. There's lots of very explicitly described intimate scenes which, if the TWs don't put you off, could be pretty arousing. For me, apart from the aforementioned warnings, what ruined the audiobook was either the choice of narrators or their choice of the voices to use. Ms Clifford spoke with a breathy, halting voice and a lisp, which combined to make her sound as though she was acting out the part of a demure fairy who's very aware of her "naughty" side - most off-putting! She actually voiced the male parts better, dropping the lisp entirely. She picked far too cultured a voice for Leo though, especially given the one she used for Jake. Mr Garrett sounded like nothing so much as the person who did the voice-over for Protect and Survive (a government information film from the 80s, advising the public how to prepare for a nuclear war!). It was entirely wrong for a young man who's pulled himself and his family from poor beginnings and now runs a small haulage company. Both of the narrators were a complete turn off for me (though they may be brilliant in other work) and I'll be avoiding audio books narrated by either of them in the future. I've listened to a few of Ms West's novels now and this is the worst. Having said that, she's still one of my favourite writers of erotic fiction and better narration would have saved this one for me too. If it pops up as a freebie, try it. If you have to pay, make sure you can stand 9 hours of the voices before buying!

Wowsers, heartfelt, dirty sexy read. My favourite of Jade's yet I think! ♥
Oh my freakin' lord, this book was cruel, (in many senses) + painful, (sex like I've never read before) + suspenseful (so many nuggets and ways the story could have gone) + beautiful, (beauty shines from within) + shocking, (say no more) + emotional, (oh christ on many levels) all this equals a book that is brilliant and unputdownable! Bait really is a multi-level read, that tugs at your emotions, has your heart pounding and often squashing your legs together during some rather painful scenes! It's so easy to just be in this book, to feel what they do, yep even those barbells! Jade does romance like no other, it's dirty, gritty, visceral, sexually scary, emotive, and oh so very well plotted and delivered. She is and will probably always remain queen of the british dirty romance genre and I applaud her imagination and creative mind. I started Bait and that was it, I was lost to Leo and Abigail and their pasts and their explosive present. This could very well be my favourite Jade West book so far. Top marks and more, a six star read for me! Although I received an ARC of Bait for an honest review, I went straight off and purchased it as well, how could I not! My reviews are my own and 100% honest.

Great book.
Great book. Read it in a day. I didn't expect it to be so engaging to read it all in 7 hours, I wish it had 2 more chapters at the end.

Dirty and wrong, and yet so good
I really enjoyed reading this book. The characters were brilliant, the plot was good and there were some hot scenes. The premise may have been a little wrong with what Abigail asked for. Asking a stranger online to basically jump you and hunt you clearly is a little messed up, and yet it was so good to read. For her to get to that point shows how badly she got hurt in the past. Leo clearly had his problems to agree to it. He craved the hunt and he really did take things to a new level with his stalking. Yet, I loved him. As the book went on, you learn about what happened and they grow close to each other. In the end, I absolutely loved these characters and I really felt for them. The scenes between them were on fire, the spark clearly there, even when they didn’t know each other. I loved seeing them grow their relationship into something real. The ending was good where everything gradually came together to give them the happy ending they deserved. This book was dirty and wrong and yet so good to read. The characters were brilliant and you eventually understood them. Overall, I loved reading this book and I would definitely recommend it. Jessreviews.co.uk

I'll be the Bait to Phoenix..... ;-)
Thoroughly enjoyed Bait, this is Jade West at her best. Taboo fantasy, thrilling filthy sex, intrigue, tragedy and of course a spoon full of romance ! From the start this book has you hooked, it soon becomes apparent that one of the things both these characters have in common is, they have both suffered loss. But you are kept wondering as to what loss ? The other thing Phoenix and Abigail have in common is a filthy fantasy. Loved the characters, Abigail is a unassuming sexy minx and Phoenix is ...... Big ;-) also sexy as sin and got a dirty mouth to go with it. RUN ..... It sends shivers down your spine. Brilliantly written ! Great story ! Five huge stars ! Enjoy the chase ?

The Bait and her Monster🖤
I *LOVED* this!! It was dark from the get-go and don’t get me started on the primal play (I have sinned through this book). If you’re a spicy book lover, this will keep you satiated because there’s so much for everyone. Abigail and Leo are like the sun and the moon; both longing for the light in the darkness of their pasts. The Black Swan and the Monster. The Bait and the Hunter. The Prey and the Predator. Plus their backstories are both so painful and very raw but when they meet, they’re perfect from the start. Please check any trigger warnings before reading but otherwise, I won’t shut up about this!

BEYOND WORDS!!!!!!!!
BOOK HANGOVER GALORE!!!!!!! This book was a brilliant mind game which was so gripping and twisted that I stayed up til 2:45 am last night to finish it. This book is like no other I have ever read. The storyline was out of the box dark, brooding, psychologically messed up on so many levels. Bait is the kind of book that left me shaking my head and internally saying "why" many times over on the decisions and actions of both Leo and Abigail. The writing is so compelling and beautifully crafted. If extreme dark romance is your thing then grab this book! The best part for me is being able to analysis and discuss this book with a good friend who also was reading at the same time because trust me, who will be venting!

LOVED IT
BAIT Release Date: 08/14/17 Kindle Unlimited: [X]YES [ ]NO Stand-alone: [X]YES [ ]NO Author: Jade West Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 Spiciness rating: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️/5 POV: Dual, first person Main Characters: Abigail & Phoenix (Leo) Genre: Dark Romance Tropes: primal play; meeting online; tragic past (both MCs) Review: First time reading Jade West and I guess I chose the perfect book. First of all because I really like books with primal play and it’s not so easy to find them. Sometimes it’s difficult for authors to balance really hot books with an internet plot, and let me tell you, their story kept me glued to the book at all times. At one point I had to stop myself from reading because I had to sleep, but it was not easy. If you like books with messed up main characters who find comfort in each other’s craziness all of that on top of scorching hot scenes, remember it’s a dark book, so no fluffiness here, maybe in the scenes where Leo is being a good father to his little kid, but most of the book is raw and crazy. Meaning: totally recommend it.

This book was everything I wanted it to be and then some.
One thing reading has taught me is that sometimes you’ll stumble across a trope or kink you didn’t even know existed, and suddenly everything clicks. Bait was one of those books for me. It took a dynamic that was already intriguing and executed it so well that I couldn’t put it down. The biggest strength of this book is that it knows exactly what it is. There is no dragging out the plot for hundreds of pages. There is no unnecessary miscommunication. There is no pointless third-act breakup inserted just because romance novels seem to think a relationship has to implode before the ending. The story gets right to the point, commits to the premise, and delivers. And it delivers well. The chemistry between the characters is immediate, but it never felt shallow. Even though the attraction is intense from the beginning, both characters still experience genuine development throughout the story. Their emotional growth felt just as important as the physical relationship, which made the connection between them much stronger. The spice was excellent. Not only was there plenty of it, but it actually fit the story and the characters. The scenes weren’t there just to fill pages—they reinforced the dynamic that made the book so compelling in the first place. Every scene felt intentional, and the tension never disappeared once it started. What surprised me most was how attached I became to the characters themselves. By the end, I genuinely wanted more of their life together. My only real complaint is that I wish the ending had spent more time showing them as a family unit. Once the story reached its conclusion, I wasn’t ready to leave them behind. I wanted more scenes with them building a life together, more interactions with the son, and more of that happily-ever-after payoff. That’s usually a good sign. When your biggest complaint is that you wanted another hundred pages, the author has probably done something right. 🌶️ Spice: 5/5 📚 Final Thoughts: One of my favorite reads in this category. Strong chemistry, great character development, no unnecessary breakup drama, and a premise that fully commits to what it promises. The only downside is wanting more time with the characters after the story ends. This is absolutely one I could see myself rereading.
