We installed this (June 2025) and it does screw into the actual pool. Not a fan of that. As far as the ease of installation, it was vexing. It took most of the day, the instructions were horrid and not all of the items needed were supplied so we had to run to the hardware store. You can lift the pole part with the rolled up cover off and store elsewhere, but you’re left with these cones on your pool top walls. This is heavy and you definitely need two people to lift the poles with the cover off. My husband also said that my son or himself will have to do the cranking part because it is hard to do that with the cover. As the season, hopefully years, move on, we will see about the durability and how well it works long term. While the poles provided are metal the rest is plastic.

It took over 4 hours to put together. We measured 3 times each time we had to measure. The plastic pieces that attach to the edge of the pool overhang a half inch. So the instructions are pretty inaccurate. The neoprene screws fell out and had to be fixed (yes we fixed them correctly) 2 times a pieces. Just attempted to unroll the cover onto the pool for the first time, 2 neoprene screws fell out into the pool and I can see 2 more already ready to fall out. So the entire middle pole will come apart eventually. Went to unravel the cover on to the pool (when the screws were falling out) and it was suctioned together , so it was folded in half and only unraveled on to half the pool (like the cover is folded in half) had to reel it back up and took 3 people to get the cover unstuck and over the entire pool. It is easier to just pull the cover off and lay it on the ground next to the pool. Thankfully I had help, if I didn’t I would never have gotten it put together nor would I be able to unreel it onto the pool. I cannot express enough , DO NOT BUY THIS!!!

Really wanted this to work! It did not extend out to 28 feet so we had to drill into the rail of our brand new pool (which directions show is acceptable) it took forever to install. The 3rd time I used it to reel up the liner the spline inside the non crank yolk busted. Customer service said it should still work so I tried to finish rolling the cover up to retrieve plastic parts out of the pool and one end completely broke again and the crank side yolk separated. Customer service is quick to respond but not very helpful. Don't waste your money and your time on this. I should have known something was off when I got the items, they looked used due to markes and dirt but I was told they did not sell used or refurbished peices. Huge regret on this purchase. Now I have to buy another cover since this one was cut and hole punched to fit the reel.

Price is steep for what you get, but all of them are expensive. This beats having to put on and take off the solar cover.

The quality is terrible. The Neoprene tubes break off. It almost that the 8mm cover is too heavy for the ree. It is hard to reel the cover up. Now I need to purchase the bearings which are 21.99 and the tubes which are 4.99 a piece or 29.99 for ten. I need to get in the pool to get the cover to reel out properly. The cover never unreels correctly. You either have to get in the pool to put it on right or have two people go on each side of cover to pull out properly. I would not recommend this item. The return policy is terrible. There is a 15% restocking fee, you need the original packaging and it has to be like new. How would you know how it was going to work if you didn't put it together and use it. I will never buy anything off of this company again.

The base that connects the come to the top of the pool on ours broke within the first month when my son was trying to uncover the pool. Cheap plastic parts.
