I love my Bissell. I have cats and it sucks up their hair....

Does this clean up close to white base boards without leaving marks?

Didn't leave marks but didn't get close enough the baseboards. Leaves about an inch or two from baseboard. This one is not edge to edge cleaning friendly which really disappointed me.

Does Amazon sell the post motor filter for this vacuum?

I'm sure they do. Get the model number from the vacuum and search Amazon.

can the floor head/attachment be used with just the hose/wand attached or does the pod/motor have to be attached to it?

No, it's attached to the main part of the vacuum. I have found it rather annoying when trying to use the accessories. The vacuum has a tendency to fall over.
