Great for tight spaces, generous leverage for adjustment.
There is a section in my backyard that tends to flood. I was getting tired of manually turning on and off my sump pump. I stumbled upon these switches quite by accident when I was contemplating buying an entirely new pump with a float on it to regulate when it would go on and off. I'm glad I did. With a little creativity and a worm clamp I was able to fasten it to the outgoing 1/2 inch pipe and extend it further enough away from the pump itself and still have plenty of room for the float to move freely up and down. I only had a small amount of space to work with 12x12 all around with about 1.5 feet deep. It fit perfectly and operates flawlessly! I may need to adjust the height a little bit but for now it's working perfectly and I no longer have to babysit it to manually turn it off to prevent motor burn out. It is a set-it- and-forget-it deal!

Great retrofit for Harbor Freight pump
I was able to retrofit a 1 hp Harbor Freight trash pump with this switch, which allows me to pump the water out of my sump pit to within an inch or so of water. If you’re familiar with that style pump, you know that it has an 8 inch cord with a float attached to it. This makes it impossible to pump the water down any lower than about a foot deep. That’s just not practical. I drove a gutter spike into the top of my sump pit and lashed the original float switch into the up position. One pro tip though. The switch doesn’t work if it’s anything less than vertical. Initially it kept getting situated at a slight angle and it would get stuck in the up position every time my yard flooded. I solved this by driving two pieces of rebar into the pit and securing my pump to the bars to keep it from twisting every time it kicked on. Another consideration is that my pump is about 12 inches tall. I don’t think that this switch would fit anything much shorter than that. Overall, I am very happy with this retrofit and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a similar solution.

Great purchase!
Bought a older home with a sump pump, the float failed and our a basement flooded. I wasn't aware that you could buy a piggyback float for the sump pump, figured we would give it a try... Super easy to install and works great. Super happy with this purchase. Thank you!!!

Similar quality and better price than the Superior Pump brand switch
I have a very busy sump pump and the built in float switch does not allow for more than a few inches of water to be pumped out at a time. This results in the pump running too frequently. I use 1/4" x 0.14" craft tubes made of brass available at the local hardware store to extend the glider rod of this float switch to pump out 8" of water per run. Simply snip the plastic glide rod in the middle, apply JB Weld, and and slide the two pieces in to each end of the brass tube. The brass tube comes in a 12" length and using a 8-1/2" of it gives about 8" of float switch range. The plastic glide rods fit snugly in the brass tube and the float is able to slide easily over the tube. With this setup I get less frequent pump cycles. With this setup my sump pump averages about 500 runs per day which is about 182,000 cycles per year. I typically get about 2-years of use out of the switch with this rate of use. The quality of this switch is comparable to that of the similar switch sold by Superior Pump for 25% more than what this costs. I highly recommend this as an affordable and durable float switch.

Easy to assemble and install. Installation hardware needed is provided in the package. Installed Dec 31, 2025. Properly functioning on install. Used it to replace a Liberty switch on a Liberty S37 sump pump. The original switch only lasted 12.5 months. Hopefully this switch lasts longer!!
