How does this compare in size to the original spacer please?

It's a lot better than the larger ones because . Fits in your hand bag which is ideal

Would this able spacer 2 chamber fit the qvar inhaler? some inhalers have a round mouth piece i can't quite see if the able spacer has a rubber insert

There is a rubber insert. I have a round ended inhaler (Alvesco) and the spacer forms a good seal.

How does the coaching signal work?

No it does'nt have an audible signal. Amazon UK sell one that does its called Aero Chamber plus Flow-Vu which takes most inhaller sizes namely Blue and Brown, it is small enough to go in a pocket or small handbag. Hope this helps.
