Lives UpTo Its Name of "The Beast"
I wanted a shop vac with as much suction as I could get because I needed it to double as a dust collection system when working with shop tools in the yard. Mine came with a free sample dust bag that you can affix inside the unit to the suction port to catch extremely fine, dusty debris. My wife saw me unpack it and said "Good! Clean the fireplace with it!" So I gave the dust bag a try for the inaugural run, and may be worth the extra investment for fine dust situations, especially in tight quarters where an in-line collection bucket isn't amenable. Mine also came with a filter attachment for the exhaust port (with a foam insert) which will likely work similarly to keep dust from blowing out, but audible strain on the motor along with reduced suction occurs when in use. The suction is still strong and I'm sure the unit was built to handle that filter, but I will personally use an in-line bucket/cyclone instead. Still, it's a nice feature in the event I need to use it indoors with fine dust. When considering its size, it moves well and is not particularly heavy (when empty). Even so, this unit should be bought for its suction power. If you don't need premium suction and prefer something smaller, then other units will be a better choice. I needed to replace a quality, but 15+ year old unit with a smaller hose diameter, and I can already attest to the amount of time and frustration I will save by not stopping to clear the hoses all the time. I found myself smiling with happiness on multiple occasions because this machine works so well. Really glad I own it.

Outstanding performance
I bought this vacuum a few weeks ago for a home improvement project and just to have around. I went with the Vacmaster brand because I have a smaller Vacmaster with the small hose and despite its size the performance has been very good. Let me start by saying I am sort of a neat freak. I am the master cleaner of the house when it comes to cleaning up carpet stains or big spills or things like that. I have always had a shop vac, just never one with the big hose. So in doing demolition in the kitchen I had to borrow the plumbers big shop vac to suck up chunks of wood and sheet rock and nails, etc. And I thought damn that works well! My little one is great for a dust and tiny little things but that’s about it. By now you may be thinking I don’t have anything to compare this to really… Only my smaller one. You are correct. So that makes this whole review kind of pointless because I don’t know if another brand of big shop vac like this one would do as well, but I don’t care. This thing has many features that I am very pleased with. Sure, you might go with a craftsman, or a rigid, or a Dewalt. And I’m sure all those vacuums are awesome. But I’ve become sort of loyal to the Vacmaster brand and so there you go. First of all I’d like to say that it is actually quieter than my small one. Kind of like a big dog is quieter than a small dog. The little one screams with a very high-pitched tone, whereas this one is more of a low hum. A few weeks back, I had over seeded my lawn and put down a bunch of soil over the top. Little did I know that the soil was mainly tiny wood chips. What a bummer. So after the seed started sprouting and the grass got green I looked over at the Beast and thought “I wonder if this would suck up the wood chips?” It did. So there I was vacuuming my entire backyard lawn. The big 16 gallon drum filled up about five times in about 45 minutes. This product sucks. So the filter. The filter looks like it came off a Tesla or the space shuttle. It is absolutely high-quality and when I cleaned it off, the inner portion was as clean as a whistle after sucking up so much crap. If you wanna suck up liquid, take the filter off and maybe put on the foam filter for liquid. I have yet to do this. This thing even has a drain at the bottom of the drum to drain liquid. The cord is 20 feet long so I have yet to need an extension, except when I did my backyard of course. I don’t put the casters on these things. Because the fairly stiff hose makes it roll around like crazy every time I vacuum something. This one has a nice bottom that slides across most surfaces anyways. Plus without the casters, the overall center of gravity is lower and the risk of the whole thing tipping over is nil. I love the on off switch. You can just sort of hit it or tap it with the hose extension to turn it on or off. So I would say it just works really well, it’s very friendly, and it’s very powerful and it says the Beast right on the top. I guess I could put tools or something on top but I have not done that yet. Do yourself a big favor and go buy 10 of these.

Awesome for the price and performance
Overall great experience with the BEAST!! Would buy again! Pros -Unboxing: Easy to unbox and WOAH!!! NO STYROFOAM!!! Just some cardboard to protect the sides. -Long Power Cord. Great to have a long power cord to move around and not need to pull out a huge long extension cord. -Hose/Attachments- Love that the hose and silence "lock" onto the ports. Ensures I won't pull it out when moving around. -Noise: The Beast is actually quieter than I thought. I guess I'm either use to super loud vacuums or I've gone deaf, but this was about as loud as a hose hold vacuum. -Silencer: It did quiet the vacuum even more, but cut down a bit on the suction power. However, it also has a filter in it. Many times, I've sucked up sawdust and more just to have a cloud of dust come out the vacuum. Not this. -Suction: Wholly cow this thing is powerful! This thing can out-suck Windows 8!! Wife and I cleaned off our front porch with it and I caught myself vacuuming my drive way. It made it kinda fun just to see what it can do. I did have the bag attached. Even with the Silencer installed, the suction was still great! -Blower: The blower side was SUPER powerful! So nice to have power and be able to blow off what I don't suck up on the porch, garage, ect. Great for cleaning off welcome mats and carpet mats -Storage: Love the little "rack" to keep the hose wrapped up. Another nice little feature is the storage of attachments on it (including the extension tubes) and hook for the power cord. Even though its a little piece of Velcro on the power cord, it REALLY helps when packing it up and storing it. -Castors: This thing rolls around great! Has storage for the tubes and more, and didn't tip over when empty as I moved it around by the hose. Quite happy. -Bags: Was easy to put the bag on and haven't seen it fall off during use or power off. Even when I suck up rocks when vacuuming the driveway.. Cons: -Hose: The hose is a bit stiff, but I could be use to worn out house vacuum hoses. Might replace with a longer one to better clean cars with or other ares. Its good for now, but might upgrade to a longer one later. -Plastic: The attachments and hoses generate some static that dust and hair ect. cling to, so its a simple wipe down to clean it. Nothing big, just eh.. since it is brand new and now looks like I live in a pig pen... -Bags: The Beast came with a bag, but it didn't quite say what size it is, so just need to look that up. Would be nice if it was printed big for us older people going blind (GET OFF MY LAWN). TL:DR: Very happy, works great, little things are great, just needs a longer, not so stiff hose, but no problem If you are reading this, I hope you are taking care of yourself and doing well. If things get dark, please reach out!! Find the strength to reach out and know you are not alone and are loved! You can do this!

Great garage Vac,well worth the money.
There are only a couple of things that keep me from giving 5 stars. Overall the Vacuum performs very well and is easy to use. I shopped and compared A LOT before even deciding to get a new shop vacuum and finally choosing the Vac Master. My 20 plus year old Shop-Vac brand was just not working well for the tasks I need a vac in my shop and garage to do. (but it was still running) The most challenging is cleaning up in my machine shop/metal working area to avoid metal chips getting places I definitely don't want swarf from a Lathe or Milling machine to end up. Especially cleaning up the floor well so I am not tracking chips around on my shoes. Plus all the typical tasks like garage clean up, vacuuming out the car, the laundry room and dryer vent etc. I have applied this vacuum to all of those tasks and more in the days since receiving it and it handled everything well. I was honestly impressed with its cleaning ability and it seems to have a good balance between raw suction power and moving a significant volume of air. (both are important but if either is lacking the performance of the vacuum will be lacking as well) It cleaned metal chips and even picked up 3/8 inch hardware and other larger objects unexpectedly without any trouble. I had noticed a smallish percentage of reviews about these vacuums overheating and stopped working when still almost new, so I have used the vacuum every day the last few days since it arrived and cleaned areas of my shop and garage I had not expected to clean, as well as vacuumed out two cars, and used the blower feature a bit as well. At least three different times the unit was on continuously for 30 minutes or longer as well as many more uses of 5 to 20 minutes. It showed no signs of overheating and worked very well the whole time. I actually checked the temperature of the motor housing area after a couple of those longer runs and it never exceeded 95 degrees F. I plan on continuing to give it a good work out and should it fail early I want it within my 30 day return period. I will update this review if that occurs. The built in tool holder slots seem like a good idea but the tools get easily knocked out of them and it becomes easier to not use it. I'll leave all the attachments on the shelf and just grab what I need when using the vac. The hose is a bit stiff and makes it a little unruly to handle, my old vac had a long and very flexible rubber hose that was much more convenient to use. I may just need to get use to the difference. I do wish it had came with a new round dust brush but my old one is OK and fits the new vac hose just fine. Bottom line as long as it lasts at least half as long as my old one, I will be very happy with it I actually kind of wish I had got a new vac sooner.

Amazingly powerful vac
I bought this to replace a old wet/dry Shop Vac with the 1.25" hose that was more than 20 years old. It could suck up anything and everything and I hated to see the motor final die. I spent time searching the web and reading professional hands-on reviews. Lots and lots of choices. I selected this one because of the solid reviews and the features. This unit has a 2.5" hose (which was surprising larger than I was expecting), 5.5 horsepower and the 12 gallon container. Setup was simple and rather intuitive if you already own a unit like this (casters go there, hose goes there, attachments go there). In less than 10 minutes I had mine together and test running. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the attachments can be held in place both in built-in slots on the motor head but also in the top of the casters. Nice design feature and truly helpful. First impression is that this has great suction even with the 2.5" hose. Strong motor and exhaust air flow confirm performance is very high. The large hose is actually a bit unwieldy and will take some getting use to compared to my previous (well worn in) unit. I am being patient and hoping with more use the stiffness of the hose will diminish. When empty this unit is totally manageable for an average adult as I had not difficulty carrying it down stairs or rolling it around the floor when plugged in. The long cable is nice but I do not see an integrated way to wrap it around the motor head when not in use. The company provides a velcro strap attached to the power cord so you can hand wind the cord and secure it with the velcro strap. Not exactly a "10" on that design feature but it suffices. Overall, the professional hands-on reviews were accurate and this unit is worth the money. I will have to see if it lasts 20-years like my previous shop vac but I will not check back in with you all to let you know if it does! I hope this was helpful.

Works great. Filters easy to get.
Just like any good shop vac, it sucks. I had a perfectly good Genie shop vac but couldn't get filters for it. This has been a great replacement.

Lives up to its name
"Beast" is a fitting name for this vacuum. Basically, it sucks. A lot. First time i turned this one, i got the floors clean. Really clean. Took up the dirt, the flooring, my houses foundation, and dirt down to beadrock. My neighbors cat has been missing for weeks and i fear the worse. I have a meeting with the FAA tomorrow regarding the disappearance of a low-flying Cessna over my property Jokes aside, this thing is fantastic. Suction power is a massive plus, if itll physically fit in the hose itll end up in the bucket. Dust and dirt obviously, but also hair, wood shavings, nitrile gloves, paper towels, one way or another its getting swallowed. Beyond the obvious, everything else on this machine is well thought out. The power cord is long enough to comfortably reach around without being cumbersome, the hose and attachments are all good quality, the plastic tub is durable and capacious. Theres also plenty of small touches that make this thing awesome. For example, it comes with an exhaust muffler that does a very good job keeping the noise down, as well as stops you from having a jet of air being blasted across the shop. Most other vacuums have that as an option accessory you have to buy seperately. The top of this vacuum is flat, not domed, with a small rim around the entire thing. Clearly, whoever designed this realized that horizontal space is always at a premium and thought to include a tool tray on the top.Even the carriny hands are large and spacious, makes for easy moving and lifting. All said, id say that dollars to donuts this thing is the best value you can get. Just watch out for helicopters

READ THIS REAL REVIEW before buying this Vacmaster
I've had this vac for years now. This is an insane work horse. That is the only way I can describe this. But, it is loud AF !! The suction on this beast is like a tornado. LOL. The instant you turn this on brace yourself. Do not let children near this. Their faces will be sucked into this with such force you may never see them again. But, seriously this does the job it's meant to do better than any wet/vac I've ever used. It does both in sucking water into the container or pushing out air to unclog drains and stuff like that. It is made of mostly strong plastic with a very very strong loud motor. So if you buy this use it during the daytime when everyone is awake. If you are using this to unclog bath tubs or Kitchen drains buy also a two inch drain hose adapter to make the hole of the hose smaller to fit your drain like I did. It's a yellow rubber attachment. But I forgot the name.

The most well thought out and powerful shop vac I have ever owned...for a price...
Overview I bought this to use on the end of a drywall sander. My original vacuum was not set up for using disposable vacuum bags. First and foremost…really impressive suction (could likely take the watch right off your arm) The design is really good, and I like the onboard storage (less chance I lose something critical) The flat top is also handy…and you won’t ever know you need it…until you have it The inner bag and exhaust system do a very good job of keeping the dust in and the noise down. I was expecting there to be at least a minor issue with fine drywall dust making it’s way out the exhaust…but that was not the case. It was a little pricey…but you won’t remember the purchase price unless you regret the purchase. How much was this thing again…? Far superior to any other brand name shop vac I have owned. Pros • Powerful suction • Quiet for the amount of power it has • Just enough attachments and onboard storage so you don’t lose them • The ability to wrap the plastic hose around the top of the unit is genius! Cons • A bit of an investment…but you get what you pay for. Recommendation – Would buy again and would highly recommend. <---Click below if you found this review helpful--->

Good sucker!
Sucks big time! Just what I wanted. I use it with my home made cyclonic separator, therefore a larger canister tank is unnecessary.

Sold without Warranty.
If purchasing from Canada this item is purchased "as is". Without warranty. Vac motor burnt up after one month of regular use. A vacuum bag was always installed and the filter was kept clean. The manufacturer warranty is deferred to a Quebec warehouse, info@mecanair.net which defers warranty to the re-sealer.
