Iris USOA447 IRIScan Express 2 Portable Scanner

This scanner is easy to install and its quick scanning has allowed to get rid of papers I don't need but have kept a copy.Software is easy to use and scanner quickly responds to paper insertion. Scanning quality is excellent.

FYI this is the first Amazon product I review. I review this product given I cannot remember ever having to deal with such a useless product. If I could give it zero stars I would have. I looked at this product (the IRIScan express) and the Pentax DSmobile 600 Scanner. I first purchased the IRIScan Express given it appears to have a more robust software bundle while having similar hardware to the DSmobile scanner. What a big mistake! I own a Windows XP computer and the software installation was extremely difficult (and I am a fairly technical guy). After 3 attempts, I finally got the software to properly install. My next issue was the quality and speed of the scanner. The highest quality setting does not produce a very high quality image and it is sloooooooooow. Also, there is no option to scan multiple pages into PDF or any other type of multipage format (PDF does not appear to be supported). This was a big issue for me as I scan multipage documents. Finally, connecting the scanner after disconnecting it was also a challenge (I had to reboot my computer to get the scanner recognized). Eventually I got frustrated from dealing with all these issues and returned the product. I got the Pentax scanner and it simply works!!!!! The Pentax works like a charm - quality is great and the scanner is EXTREMELY easy to setup and use. Do not waste your time and money on this IRIScan express piece of junk! The reason the Pentax has so many positive reviews is because it works!!

Worth the price for the software alone. Installation was normal for a Mac. Scanner rated at 2 sheets/min but my experience is 1 sheet per min. OCR software is accurate and usable on any image; I photographed a book page with my camera and the software recognized it. Software will also recognize and translate bar codes. Manual is nearly useless and the help file needs improvement - making the learning curve unnecessarily steep. I'd still buy it again.

The scanner works as advertised once installed. The installation was a little troublesome on one computer running Vista Home Premium, however I do not think it is the software.

Very spotty performance on photos. Left very large white blotches that had nothing to do with dust. Ended up having to purchase a large Epson flatbed scanner.

Like others have said, its not the fastest scanner but it works as designed. If you only do a few docs at any given time it will work, if you need something that can do volume fast, go with a a higher end device.

The only problem I have with this is that it is sometimes hard to get the page aligned straight. A good software program adjusts for this though.

This product was such a disappointment. I had managed to set it up going through customer support who sent me software to replace the one that came with it which was incompatible and I used it a few times getting terrible results, ridiculously bad scans, but since reformatting my computer I'm finding it impossible to set it up again. The software is embarrassingly bad, their website is useless so be careful if you're considering this purchase. I'm sticking to flatbed scanners from now on.

Gerät kommt mit Software. Installation läuft astrein ab(XP). Das Gerät selbst bekommt seinen Strom von der USB Buchse. Für unterwegs optimal. Die Software ist für den kleinen Scanner ausreichend. Ich nutze ihn mit Paperport 12. Hat zwar ca. 20 Minuten gedauert bis ichs begriffen hatte wies geht. Aber jetzt geht es ganz einfach. Blatt rein. Scannen starten. Pdf fertig. Super. Würde den Scanner wieder kaufen. Anmerkung: Wer's eilig hat bekommt einen Herzkasper weil es doch lange scannt bis zum Ergebniß. Mich stört es nicht.

avrei preferito che includesse una Sd per l'archiviazione in automatico, qualitativamente ottimo prodotto interfaccia discreta, regolazione buona. qulalita' prezzo buona

Après déballage, je regarde la procédure d'installation. Gros warning sur le carton, installer les drivers avant de brancher le scanner. Je lance l'installation dans l'ordre indiqué... 1 re-démarrage, on continue l'installation et un autre re-démarrage. Je lance la calibration. tout est ok. Je lance ReadIsis. Hum... trouve pas le scanner. Je vais sur les forums... Bref, je désinstalle tout et je nettoie la base de registre. Je refais l'installation complète. Rien a faire le logiciel fourni ne reconnait pas le scanner. Pourtant je peux faire le calibrage. Le twain ne se charge pas ou seulement quand il veut. Après avoir passé plusieurs heures a tenter de le faire marcher, je décide de le renvoyer car il n'est pas compatible avec Windows 7 ultimate. C'est quand même le comble que le logiciel fourni avec le scanner ne reconnaisse pas le scanner. Bref, je continuerais a scanner mes documents via mon Samsumg Galaxy S et l'appli pour android.
