If you struggle with addiction, seeking treatment is a powerful, positive first step toward eventual recovery. But gaining an understanding of the causes of addiction-such as feelings of helplessness or loss of control-is also crucial for recovery. In this book, addiction expert Suzette Glasner-Edwards offers evidence-based techniques fusing cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and mindfulness-based relapse prevention to help you move past your addictive behaviors. On the long road to addiction recovery, you need as many tools as possible to help you stay sober and reach your destination. That's why this is the first book to combine research-proven motivational techniques, CBT, and mindfulness-based strategies to help you create your own unique recovery plan. The book can be used on its own or as an adjunct to rehab or therapy. It also makes a wonderful resource for loved ones and professionals treating addiction. If you're ready to take that important first step toward recovery, this book can help you beat your addiction and get back to living a full, meaningful life. Bought this for a family member who is adamant his mental health has nothing to do with alcoholism. It was a pricey gamble but has actually made a huge difference to the way he thinks and has really helped! 100% worth the money, thank you.

An Essential Tool for Addiction Recovery
The Addiction Recovery Skills Workbook is a well-rounded and practical guide for anyone on the journey to overcoming addictive behaviors. By blending Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and motivational interviewing techniques, this workbook offers an evidence-based approach that is both empowering and accessible. The exercises and worksheets are thoughtfully designed to help readers identify triggers, reframe negative thought patterns, and build healthier coping mechanisms. What I appreciate most is the workbookโs emphasis on mindfulnessโhelping individuals cultivate present-moment awareness to reduce impulsivity and emotional reactivity. The structure of the book is easy to follow, making it suitable for self-guided use or as a complement to therapy. The authors strike a perfect balance between empathy and expertise, ensuring readers feel supported without being overwhelmed. Whether you're a professional working with clients in recovery or someone seeking tools for personal growth, this workbook is a valuable resource. Highly recommended!

Really a very good workbook!
Absolutely recommendable: - easy to read and understand - the 7 steps offer a complete scheme for recovery - helpful examples - positive/hopeful - construction of a personal recovery plan Addicts can use the book on their own, but I prefer to supervise them in their recovery process.

Perfect
I bought this for a friend who just started the recovery process. He goes to meetings, therapy and church but he said when he's home, he struggles. So I got him this book. He's had it about 3 weeks now and said it's just what he needed. He said it's a simple, easy workbook but it makes him think. I'm happy to be of help. I'm hoping they have like step 2 book or a more advanced one.
