The twentieth anniversary edition of a transformative blueprint for ancestral healingโfeaturing new material and gateways, from the renowned herbalist, natural health expert, and healer of womenโs bodies and souls โThis book was one of the first that helped me start practices as a young woman that focused on my body and spirit as one.โโJada Pinkett Smith Through extraordinary meditations, affirmations, holistic healing plant-based medicine, KMT temple teachings, and The Rites of Passage guidance, Queen Afua teaches us how to love and rejoice in our bodies by spiritualizing the words we speak, the foods we eat, the relationships we attract, the spaces we live and work in, and the transcendent woman spirit we manifest. With love, wisdom, and passion, Queen Afua guides us to accept our mission and our mantle as Sacred Womenโto heal ourselves, the generations of women in our families, our communities, and our world. Review: I consider this the โblackโ womanโs Bible - While i know everyone will have their own perspective in general, I believe that I must speak up for those truly interested in deep healing and true womb (feminine) healing. This book is not your average book by far, itโs not your average โself helpโ book either, and itโs not the type of book you can even dive into if the โsoulโ isnโt fully ready to do the work. You can read it all day long, but if you arenโt ready and willing to do the deep work it takes to appreciate a book like this, donโt buy it because you wonโt like it. For me, this book is a holy grail to healing women. I have had it for almost two years and I have not read fully through it yet, I just picked up the newest edition and plan to continue to read and do healing work. I think itโs also worth mentioning that itโs okay if some things in the book doesnโt resonate with you, take whatโs for you and leave what is not. This will help you when processing her teaching methods and practices. If you believe that there is only ONE way to your god, and your religion wonโt allow you to receive these teachings, then as I stated earlier your โsoulโ is not ready for this type of deep healing work. This book is not for the faint hearted or skeptics. Itโs for those courageous enough to look at their most darkest places and bring them to the light for the best healing you can have as a woman. Itโs for those who are open to understanding the ancient afrikan ways because this book was and is specifically designed for those of the AFRIKAN diaspora. It takes you back to the ancient ways of our healing before colonization of our worlds as people of color. So that alone might deter you from the book if you hold bias there. This type of work is not simple and itโs not a โquick fixโ, this type of book is designed to be apart of your ongoing journey as a sacred tool to healโ- and that is a lifestyle choice, not something you can get done in a year or after reading a couple chapters and then stopping there. This book is full of wisdom, motivation, positive affirmations, love, acceptance, insight, harmony, truth, and most of all Mother God. In short: this book has single-handely changed my life for the better and I know that it will help shape my life even more from here, and byway Iโll help other women continue on their healing journey. Remember this book isnโt only about you, when you heal; you can heal your whole world around you. But it starts with you accepting the journey unapologetically. Review: Finding the time to work in this book w/small children.... - So happy I found the paperback, I purchased the Kindle version a year agi but it's so much better to have a copy in my hands. Let the healing begin. (Again.) So here's what happened. I started the journey in gate one and from my experience it is extremely transformative. Things began to be revealed to me about myself which is truly amazing. I started in gate 0 and technically I'm still there. Not sure if this is ok but this is where I am. Anyways, I was really slow to begin the process because there were items I needed to collect and additional time to find for myself. I have two small children and I'm building my business so finding the time and energy to do things is difficult however the time I did have I used. My sacred baths we're at night or anytime I could manage. I did things to work within my schedule because I needed the healing. It's a challenge for time but whatever time I make for myself I'm always thinking, "I should have done this sooner." This healing book reminds me to care for myself when things get busy. It may take me longer to complete this, with my current responsibilities. So anyone out there wondering where the time is or you have small children and a career to manage, just do what you can when you can, it's ok. I purchased the paperback to remind me to keep going. I started started gate one but I wasn't quite ready yet. I feel the need to continue in gate 0. Anyways so far this book has been really helpful and life changing for me even the little I have read. (I skim thru the chapters from time to time for information) Also, I don't sense that staying in a gate too long is problematic but if anyone out there knows it's a hazard let me know. Hopefully this helps someone. December 2020 Update: I still have the book and have not gone through all the gates for me this book is definitely a reference. I will say when I did go through gate one my spiritual hearing popped open. I didnโt know I could do this. That being said I have dived into more spiritual aspects of myself. Things that use to scare me, no longer do. Itโs definitely a work in progress for me but looking back on it all, my takeaways are spiritual baths, salt baths. Iโve found out things like Iโm an empath and very intuitive, love crystals and I can read energy. For me this book opened my mind to another spiritual side of myself. Hopefully this makes sense and helps. So all in all itโs definitely a book to have. Still havenโt gone through all the gates though but am curious as too what other abilities will be opened for me.

Invaluable information
I haven't actually completed the entire book yet, but I'm only in the third chapter and blown away! First, believe the cover when it says it is a guidebook. It's great reading, but the intention is to put knowledge into action to heal yourself. This outlines a long-term process to healing. I don't think I found this by accident. For me, I was totally oblivious to the topic until I started reading and took time to think about it. How have I never considered or thought about this before? There's a lot of invaluable information packed in here. I'm not even past part I! Can be overwhelming with info overload but worth it. It might be best to read a little at a time and then re-read. Even if you're not dedicated to the full process, I think for a novice on the path (like me), even doing some or a few things could be useful and bring profound healing. That's my intention. Take what resonates and work with it, what doesn't leave the rest. If it does, maybe slowly incorporate other things and work your way up to the full plan. At the least, you gain great knowledge just by reading alone. I recommend.

Reader beware, this book might challenge your assumptions...
I really enjoyed this book. This is my first Afrocentric homeopathic healing book. I usually read websites and books about medicinal herbal remedies. I garden. I eat a mostly plant based diet. I am a black woman. I do yoga. Etc. So, some of the information in the book Iโve heard about in passing. Without this book I wouldnโt have the courage to incorporate many of the authorโs suggestions into my life. The suggestions would just get filed in the back of my mind like, โyeah, I should add Epsom salts to my bath or drops of lavender oilโ. I must admit that some of this book was a bit of a joke to me. I understand that everyone comes from differing educational backgrounds and lifestyles but I found it surprising for women to lack knowledge of their monthly menstrual cycle. I was also almost offended by one or two statements in the book about historyโฆ but hey, facts are facts and just because I am โoverโ history doesnโt mean it didnโt happen. What I didnโt really love was the ritualistic nature of the entire book. I canโt imagine doing all that the author suggests. I donโt think I could go to work if I followed her guidelines. I added post its after post its to the book. There are so many teas, food ideas, relaxation ideas, suggested healing remedies (for ailments I donโt even have! LOL) that I know this book is invaluable. What I finally realized is that, like Christianity and segments of the Bibleโthis book is like a full manual to a lifestyle and (somewhat?) religious way of thinking. When I first opened the book I had no idea what the Khamit/Khamitic ways of thinking had to do with self-healing. By the end of the book I found myself carefully reading those sections. They are interesting. I am not a regular churchgoer, but I fully believe in a higher power and accept his/her guidance in my life. Queen Afuaโs higher power has multiple parts- Maat, Het-Hru, Nefer Atum, Heru, and Tehuti. This might bother a reader that comes from another religious tradition. It doesnโt bother me because I recognize that religion is a choice and the assumption of Christian belief that many Americanโs have is often just blind acceptance of a forced culture. Few examine their faith. I respect Queen Afuaโs examination and explanation of how the tenets of her faith can lead to a womensโ self-healing. I wish other traditions did so. Many in the United States, as it is a supposed Christian nation, could benefit from such an examination instead of blind dependence on medical doctors, pills, and the health care system as our gods. I understand that this book is meant to be an all inclusive guide butโฆ I just donโt think I am on a path to becoming a sacred woman as laid out by Queen Afua. My final thought wasโฆ โthis is so much workโฆโ I am open to introspection, self-care, self-healing, and meditation but not exactly ready to set up my own altarโฆ but I thought about itโฆ hard.

Shocked by reviews
Queen Afua literally tells people they may go into a bit of culture shock because Western Culture is big on a jealous God that is far away and anything contrary to this is evil. They made us believe all of our original beliefs were evil and we adopted their practices as the norm just as we have done with their beauty standards, holidays, and customs. It amazes me that people that put up Christmas trees and celebrate a fertility god and a bunny and eggs canโt read past the beliefs unlike their own. The book is awesome and has saved me life again and again. To those saying itโs for women trying to have kids, again false. She is speaking to the WOMB wellness of ALL women. The womb of your mind, your body and spirit. For sisters who have fibroids and have had hysterectomies amongst other issues related to poor uterine health. Iโm saddened by the misguided reviews and wish people would read this book if and only if you are prepared to do the work. Itโs easy to replace the prayers with Christian prayers and references to other gods with the God of Israel. You can make the adjustments in the spiritual and physical realm if you are open to it. My altar has a cross on it and I only pray to God Almighty. Iโm just not closed to acknowledging other spirits exist. Either way I strongly suggest this book if you are ready to work. Peace and Blessings
