Can it be used on a duplex outlet?

YES! totally designed for singles, doubles, triples and more. Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

Will it work on a box-mounted blank installed on a low-voltage mounting ring? Power outlet is low but I have a blank at the right height

It should as long as the blank is screwed in tight to the junction box. If the blank is loose the bracket which holds the shelf will not stay in place. I hope that makes sense. I think you can get ahold of us through seller support and send a picture and I will double check to

How far from the outlet cover does the arm extend?

Not very far. at all. It gives enough room to use both outlets assuming a normal sized plug is being plugged in. But it's made of a thin, cheap plastic, so it lacks the rigidity for the arm to extend much at all.

Will this work with a one screw metal face plate?

I would think the metal face plate would work better than the thin plastic plates most of us have.
