Better than icy hot or any leading analgesic
This is the type of product thai boxers use for aches and pains. This penetrates deep into the muscle and goes to the bone. It burns but then it cools. I like this cream base and also the gel base. This brand is so recommended for those who have achy muscle and joints. My husband and I work out and train in martial arts (jujutsu) and we do a lot of joint manipulation. This is our go-to for pain relief.

Relaxes Tight Muscles
I am approaching my seventh decade and still play a lot of early morning pickleball in 40 degree weather. Needless to say, my muscles start out stiff and I need help warming up. I was looking for a topical cream that has Lidocaine, or something like it because the last topical cream that worked for me and helped me to get moving had lidocaine in it. I couldn't find lidocaine as an ingredient so I started looking for menthol, levomenthol, wintergreen or a mint because that feels good too. I ordered a smal 30gram tube of Counter Pain Warm Balm from the Bedront Store. It is used for massage and relaxation and used before and after sports activity to relieve muscle pain. The main ingredients are methyl salicylate, levomenthol, eugenol. I read that Eugenol is a naturally found in clove oil, with a characteristic clove-like scent. It has anesthetic, antiseptic, and analgesic properties. Levomenthol , also known as L-menthol, is a natural component of peppermint oil. Methyl salicylate is found naturally in wintergreen leaves and bark, as well as in certain types of berries. But it can also be synthesized commercially from salicylic acid and methanol. I looked all this up because according to FDA Advisory No.2023-1893, makers of TAISHO Analgesic Balm Counterpainยฎ Methyl Salicylate, Levomenthol, Eugenol 60 grams did not register with FDA. There is a registration number on the package for another country, Reg. No. 2C 13/56, I decided to try the cream in spite of registration issues. and I am liking the warm feel and it seems to effectively target my pain receptors right away. I am able to bend my body sooner and feel less discomfort during warm ups. I believe that I have prevented the muscle strains in my neck and my back that I usually have to ice up when I get home. The cream works for me and I like the wintergreen smell, the warm feeling on my skin. I want to give this product a 4 star rating. I deducted a point for registation issues and for the high price of the product for a 30 gram tube.

Not bad at all, but pricey
I'm not a medical expert , I'm a 60 year old with a painful back condition , and I've used many types of pain relieving ointments and creams to mitigate back pain over the years . I ordered this because instead of the usual formulation you find in most over-the-counter pain creams, this one contains Eugenol, Methyl Salycilate, and Levomenthol. This is a unique formulation. The Eugenol is a clove-based liniment , so there's more of a clove smell than the usual heavy menthol minty smell of most pain creams. It has a pleasant cooling effect and it did seem to offer relief , but for me it was about the same effect of other over-the-counter pain creams. Somewhat effective , but not a game-changer . Your results could very , pain is a very subjective thing to try and measure . The main reason I probably wouldn't buy this again is price. At about $30 US for a small 1 oz tube, it isn't cost effective for me to use this, especially on a large area like my back. If you are treating a small area , or if money isn't a barrier to you, then CounterPain might be worth a try for you. Overall a good , but pricey product .

Interesting balm to try
I love that this was warm and not menthol heavy like a lot of pain creams tend to be so that was interesting. There's more of like a warming spice smell which I quite liked. As far as pain relief I can't really tell if this helped at all but luckily experience, no irritation, or anything, so that's good!
