Works great
Fantastic product. I always remove the top from the oil container before starting to filter as suggested by another review and I’ve never experienced any leaks. The filtration and oil storage are amazing and it makes it super easy to keep clean and grease free. Most bits are dishwasher safe too. Perfect size for two people and does a great job. It’s a bit pricy, but worth the extra cost because of the design.

Superb deep fat fryer
I stopped using deep fat fryers a few years ago as I found it impossible to remove all the stubborn glue like oil from all the crevices as it built up everywhere. I spent more time cleaning them than I did cooking and eating the meals. I love good chips though so got an air fryer and used McCains oven chips in it. It took a while to devise the best way to get them crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, but it meant cooking them for 10 minutes on a low heat to defrost them, leave to stand for a while then another 10 minutes at about 40 degrees after giving them a good toss, then a final 10 minutes at maximum heat to brown them off. They were ok but a lot of the chips had black bits and lots of the bags had too many broken bits so I usually threw at last 10% away in the bottom of the bag. The chips were getting more and more expensive and often my supermarket didn’t have any in stock so I started to think about cooking my own again. I had an old electric one in my loft which had been there for several years so I dug it out. Bought a bag of suitable potatoes and a bottle of corn oil as I didn’t want any unhealthy oils and tried it out. For 2 of us 2 medium sized potatoes provided plenty of chips. I bought a crinkle cutter as I always found crinkle cut chips so much better, softer inside and no sharp overcooked edges. I realised that buying chips was costing an awful lot more than necessary and if the weight of the chips in the bag were compared to the same weight in peeled potatoes it would be considerably more per kilo for the shop bought chips. Having established that the home made chips were very much tastier, not greasy and a fraction of the price, I decided to find the best chip fryer I could that would avoid the awful job of keeping it clean and not having to throw it away once a year as the oil would be baked on in all the seams, edges and places I couldn’t remove it from. After a few weeks of searching I came across the Tefal Olioclean, 2 litre. Having watched the video I was so impressed with the way it works and the thought that had gone into it so solve all the problems, I ordered one. It was expensive but worth every penny as you can’t expect something this good without paying the price it justifies. It will pay for itself in time as I will not be buying oven chips from supermarkets anymore, in fact I reckon this will save me at least £8.00 a month. The way the oil empties is really clever and so efficient. The oil, once drained into the container at the bottom of the fryer is clean, I wipe the crumbs out of the bowl with kitchen towel and put the removal parts, apart from the element, in the dishwasher and they come out like new. The element can be cleaned separately and once its all clean and put back together it looks like new again with the oil safely stored in the container below. I am very, very pleased with this chip fryer and can’t think of anything negative to say about it. The look, the price, the efficiency, the easy cleaning and the delicious chips are all you could want from a chip fryer. With this chip fryer, a pressure cooker and baking my own bread, I only shop once a fortnight now and spend half of what I used to on food while eating good quality, tasty food home cooked food. UPDATE…..the second time I used this fryer it leaked when I used the filtration system, the third time it did it again so I contacted Amazon who were more than happy to accept it back. I didn’t want to give up that easily and still wanted the fryer so replacing it was no guarantee another one would be any different. Having read through all the feedback it seems most of them leak. I contacted Tefal Customer Service and they couldn’t come up with a solution apart from sending it back and having taken the model ref no. they would check it or faults, in the meantime they were confident that a replacement would not leak. I wasn’t confident about this being a solution so I looked at it again and thought about it for a while, then decided that it could be as simple as the air in the box causing the problem during the last part of the emptying as the air had nowhere to go. I removed the plug from the box, heated the oil to 140deg and selected filtration, waited and watched till it started to empty. It emptied without a drop of oil leaking. I removed the box and replaced the plug and all was fine underneath. I will try it again this evening and if the result is the same the problem is solved and maybe someone from Tefal will do a modification or add this to the instructions. Hope this helps other people who have to put wads of kitchen roll under their leaky fryer! UPDATE 2 I have just used it again without the screw-in plug on the oil container. Held my breath when I heard the click indicating that the valve had opened and watched and waited. All the oil drained and absolutely all of it went into the oil box, not a drip anywhere else! This completely solves the problem of the oil leakage that happens in the last few minutes of the oil transfer. I hope Tefal see this and make a modification to the screw so that the air can enter the box as the oil leaves it without actually removing the screw completely just in case the screw gets lost as I doubt if these screws are available as a separate purchase. This has been a very long feedback report so I apologise if anyone has found it a complete bore…I just hope it solves the problem for some of you.

Filtration is amazing
Excellent frier very well made and simple to operate. The price is about right for a frier of this quality and the oil filtration/storage is amazing. The frier heats the oil very quickly. It is safe to use the handle provides plenty of clearance and the lid is very easy to get on and off i prefer fully detached ones such as this as it makes them a lot easier to clean. It requires about 2 litres of oil so its not too overkill and with the filtration the oil lasts a good amount of time. The oil takes about 2 hours to cool down, make sure it is cool before engaging the filter to be safe.

From crispy fish and chips to mouthwatering chicken and pork patties
I was thrilled to stumble upon this gem of a deep fat fryer after all my beloved local chippies closed down. Let me tell you, this fryer has been an absolute game-changer, and I can't help but gush about its exceptional features. From crispy fish and chips to mouthwatering chicken and pork patties, I've put this fryer to the test, and it has never failed to impress me. Now, let's talk about the highlights, the things that make this fryer a true kitchen champion: · Effortless Clean-up: Bid farewell to the days of scrubbing tirelessly. This fryer's fry bowl and oil storage container are a breeze to clean, saving you precious time and effort. · Rapid Heating: No more waiting around for ages. This fryer heats up with lightning speed, ensuring you can satisfy your cravings without delay. · Stability Guaranteed: Slippery surfaces are not a concern anymore. Thanks to its non-slip feet, this fryer stays firmly in place, providing stability and peace of mind while you cook up a storm. Now, while this fryer has won me over, it's only fair to mention a couple of minor drawbacks: · Trapped Particulate Woes: Unfortunately, the mesh filter for draining used oil doesn't have a removable feature, making it a tad challenging to clear trapped particulates. But fear not, a workaround can always be found. · Seal Imperfection: The lid of the oil storage container doesn't form a perfect seal with the bottom part, meaning you'll need to exercise caution when handling it. A small inconvenience in the grand scheme of things. In conclusion, this fryer has been a reliable and delightful addition to my kitchen. I'm so impressed that I would happily purchase it again without hesitation. In fact, I'm already considering gifting one to my parents come Christmas, so they too can experience the joy of effortless frying.

Well Tefal, where to start…
WOW! Brilliant ! The oil drains into the bottom storage container after 2 hours so it’s non spill if you are like me and store it in a cupboard. Easily washed and dishwasher proof. A clip on the inside front to hang the basket so the food can drain. It’s a bit more than I wanted to pay but I’m soooo glad I did because it is WELL worth the money. As I got the compact it’s not too heavy. Its cooks perfect chips with the easy to use temperature dial. It’s super easy to use, sturdy and fit for what it’s intended for !

Simple way to great chips and yummy doughnuts
Not had a deep fat fryer before but occasionally like to make tempura and fry doughnuts. This model caught my eye because of its ability to drain and store the oil after frying. Seems such a simple idea it’s a surprise there aren’t more but I was pleasantly surprised how easy it’s was just to set it to drain after finishing- it senses when the oil is cool enough and then drains it into a reservoir underneath the fryer. Everything then except the heating element can go into the dishwasher for cleaning and it is easy to wipe the element clean. It is then ready for use again when the oil can simply be poured from the reservoir back into the fryer. It takes about 5-10 mins to get up to temperature which is set with a simple dial and then the food to be fried is placed into the basket and lowered into the fryer . The lid on top prevents oil splashes and has a window to see how it is cooking. Tempura was a bit messy but chips and doughnuts work really well. In short, I think this is a well designed fryer that cooks well, and is easy to clean afterwards .

Expensive box, more clunky than the faithful pot.
This is basically a heating element in a metal box. It is quite expensive and lacking certain features basic features like a timer. We find this modal quite small, certainly if you are into making scotch eggs, they don’t cook evenly and you have to mess about trying to turn them over in burning hot oil, whereas previously we just dumped them into a large pot and got on with it. The whole oil draining thing was a bit confusing to start but It’s incredibly basic, so they should rewrite their user manual. When done cooking, you turn the machine off, switch the dial to oil box and then it will start draining into its Tupperware box when its mechanical thermostat reaches a certain temperature. - that’s it! We keep the oil box in the machine when used oil in, it doesn’t smell at all. It’s very easy to clean, the whole lot just goes into the dishwasher after a little blitz under the tap. (Not the heating element). Not sure if we will keep it, seems more faff than a proper pot with basket that you have more control over.
