Five Stars
Solar Drive RC Gobi Men's Watch EGS-11248-12LI am very pleased with this excellent watch. It came in 3 days from Germany. It takes the time signal from Mainflingen, near Frankfurt which is a stronger signal than the UK signal from Anthorn but is Central European Time (CET). The watch arrived correctly set to UK time (1 hour behind CET) with brief instructions in English. As the watch only takes the signal from one transmitter it makes the operation simple. The instructions for the initial setup describe how to synchronise the position of the hands with the internal radio receiving clock, but for UK time it is necessary to position the hour hand at 11 o’clock not 12 as indicated. This offset from CET can be between 10 o’clock (2 hours behind CET) and 2 o’clock (2 hours ahead). CET alters for summer time when GMT alters so there is no problem there. The watch receives the time signal automatically between 3 and 4 am. To check reception, press the Mode button (near “4”) and the second hand goes momentarily to “12” if the last reception was OK or “6” if unsuccessful. To manually get the watch to receive the time signal at any time, hold down the Set button (near “2”) for 5 seconds or so and the second hand will go to “11” whilst the watch searches for and receives the signal. The second hand then starts and shows the correct time again. This can all take up to 8 minutes but is usually less.Reception area. A map of the reception area of the transmitter is shown on the internet - “DCF Mainflingen transmitter” All of England lies within 1000 km of Mainflingen, Scotland Wales and Ireland are within 1500 km.In the UK this watch easily picked up the signal in Worcestershire even from within a car and when left in a bedroom drawer. It also picked up the signal correctly in North, East and South Yorkshire and Northumbria. For Lanarkshire and Perthshire the watch picked up the signal but the usual precautions were needed -- Point 12 o’clock on the watch towards Mainflingen with the watch face horizontal. Position near a window and not shielded by metal and not near any electrical or electronic equipment. Avoid large areas of metal such as car parks. The watch failed to find the signal in the Hebrides and Oban so the watch is suitable for England and Wales (within the 1000km circle on the map) but not good in Scotland. As I was in the Hebrides on 30th June the watch read 31st the following morning and I had to manually adjust it to 1st July. The watch has a 20mm wide strap with the usual buckle fastening. The case is 40mm diameter (plus buttons and lugs for the strap). The day and date are very easily read. There are luminous dots at the hours and the hands have a faint luminous stripe. The watch is fully charged by 8 hours sunlight and will then run for 6 months. If the watch is left in the dark for several days the hands stop moving to save energy and then revert to the correct time when the watch is exposed to light.

Fragile
Arrived with the second hand detached and rattling around loose inside the watch. Also, the crown wasn't properly engaging with the mechanism so it was impossible to set the day. Didn't give me much confidence in the workmanship so I'm going for a different brand.

What's The Date
Was not going to leave a review, but the date has forced me to write one.The watch itself looks very nice, not too heavy, and a good quality strap, The watch was easy to set up, and had it up and running within 25 minutes. Now for the reason I only gave it four stars. When I put on my watch this morning, I looked at the day and date. The day Wednesday was on display, alas the date said 31, not 1 so am I missing something??????

German Workmanship in a Great Watch
After reading the current reviews on this watch I very nearly past on the purchase as it doesn't seem to fair too well. However, over the past 25 years I have had Seiko watches and fancied a change but didn't want to buy the normal 'run-of-the-mill' brands of watch and so thought I would take the chance and I am really glad that I did. It's typical of German workmanship, looks great and has a fantastic works. One of the previous reviewers explained how to set it up as it is always 1 hour in front of us as it uses the greater German transmitter, but once set up there are no more worries. If you can't follow the instructions simply Google 'How to set up a German watch' and there is ample support. I love this watch and am really glad I stuck out and purchased it.

The seller offered no support when needed
I have bought this watch twice, assuming that the first watch was faulty. The time seemed to pick up the radio signal okay, but constantly set the time 10 minutes fast. The seller was unresponsive when I messaged them through Amazon. Very disappointing. The second watch could not be set.

Watch works a treat
arrived well within time stated, if you wanted to track it.( as it was dispatched via DHL from Germany), wait until it arrives in UK, trying to track it via DHL will not work. as soon as it is in the UK system you can track it via Parcel Force web site using the DHL Tracking Number. I managed to start tracking it the Day after dispatch. Watch works a treat. Instructions are in German only, But you can download english version on ETT web site.

Very difficult to set.
I've not yet got the watch to work properly: it runs, but the time is all over the place. Very disappointing.

Ergo musste eine neue Uhr her.
