BONTEC Small Ergonomics Desk Extender Tray, 20 x 9.5 Inch, White

I cannot say enough good things about this product! I needed a slightly bigger desk to accommodate for some additional products I received for my home project recording studio. I've been looking at this one for awhile and finally decided to get it, and I'm not sorry that I did! Upon taking out of the package, I noticed that the parts were very well made. Sure, the wood is MDF, but the screw holes are reinforced with metal sleeves so it feels pretty stable in there. It installs easily, and does have some weight to it, in a good way. I was a little hesitant to the "carbon" finish cause I thought that it would be textured and I didn't want that, but it wasn't. It was nice and smooth, where you can still write on it if needed. There is a small gap between the extension and the original main desk. I realize this is next to impossible to fix, as there has to be something to connect the extension to the desk, so I didn't expect there to be absolutely zero gap. But it is minimal, once you put your things on it, you don't even notice it really. Also, really nice feature that you can let that extension down, like a table leaf, if you don't need to use it at the moment. It's hard to find something to complain about this product. But just to have something to grow on, it would be cool to either offer more color options, or to make a version where the wood was paintable easily. The last thing is that I thought before buying this that the price was a little "expensive" for what it was, but after getting it, seeing it setup, and knowing how much it has improved my workflow and I don't have to spend extra cause studio desks are expensive, I don't mind the price at all, and would do it again!

💡Installation tip: The Anker clamp is adjustable. If it doesn't fit under your desk lip at first, just loosen and reposition the screws to lower the anchor arm (anchor clamp)—I’ve included a photo of the area I mean. Once I did that, it fit perfectly. I truly don’t understand why this has a high return rate—this desk extender is awesome once you know how to install it correctly. I mainly use it as a dedicated spot for my notepad, and it has completely changed my work setup for the better. Before this, I had to move my mouse or awkwardly bend over the far side of my desk just to jot something down. That constant twisting and hunching was wrecking my back. If you’re thinking of returning it because the clamp doesn’t fit—don’t! Adjust the screws and give it a real chance. It's affordable, durable, and way more useful than I expected.

Where have these been all my life!? My home office is quite small, so my desk is similarly tiny. It's functional, but it also means that it has less surface area than I'd like and is not as deep as I need it to be, so either my keyboard and mouse have to be positioned ridiculously close to my monitor OR I have to position them at the very edge of my desk leaving me no room to rest my wrists/arms while working. Neither solution is ideal, and both solutions result in debilitating wrist/arm pain, particularly after a long work day. I found a number of other options that looked like they'd fit the bill, and I actually tried 2 other products BEFORE I found this one, but they were both disappointing. The first one I bought was one of the cheapest options available, and I ended up returning it instantly because it was made of plastic and felt like it would break under the slightest pressure. The second unit I bought was a more expensive metal option with pivoting arms, because I thought the added mobility would be helpful. But after trying it out for a few weeks, I found that the articulating arms made it surprisingly difficult to use and position it where you need it, especially if you're moving your arm a lot while working. So I ended up returning that one too. But the third time is clearly the charm, because this one is a winner!! It's solidly built. It's easy to assemble and install. It's INCREDIBLY sturdy. And it's just the right size, giving me plenty of extra surface area to type and use my mouse comfortably, without it being too bulky or getting in the way. In fact, I loved it so much, I bought two – one for each arm – and it has been well worth the expense. I haven't experienced wrist or arm pain since installing them, so as far as I'm concerned, they're a godsend and worth every penny. The fact that they fold down out of the way is really nice bonus. Before installing these, I never considered that to be an essential feature, but I'm finding that it comes in really handy. Cannot recommend these enough! If you're in the market for a desk extender, these are perfect!!

Overall Impression: Overall, this desk extender satisfies my needs, but it isn’t perfect. It does exactly what it’s supposed to do by expanding my workspace, but there are a few design details that keep it from being great. Pros Does the Job: Overall, it satisfies its purpose and functions well as a basic table mount armrest and shelf. Sturdy Mount: The foldable 90-degree mechanism works smoothly and holds up fine. Cons & Areas for Improvement Surface is Too Hard: The top surface material feels a bit too rigid. If you plan to rest your wrists or forearms on it for extended periods while typing, you might find yourself wanting to add a desk mat or wrist pad for some extra cushioning. A Bit Too Deep: At 9.5 inches deep, it sticks out a little farther than I would prefer. A slightly shorter depth option would make it much more comfortable and less intrusive in smaller workspace setups. Final Verdict It's just "OK." If you desperately need extra desk real estate and don't mind a firmer surface, it's a decent buy. However, if the manufacturer offered a version with a shorter depth and a softer, more ergonomic finish, it would be a much better product.

So far so good. Easy to put together. Bought it for my standing desk so the phone moves with the desk instead of sitting on my non moving desk. Phone fits perfectly on it. Office phone is a Cisco phone. Sturdy, nice and doesn’t look cheap.

My work from home setup involves two monitors and a laptop. My desk (which is old and I’m looking to replace) is on the smaller side but fits the two monitors just fine. The laptop, however, spends its time on the crafting (un-job-related) bookshelf next to the desk. However, we need to be able to maintain a visual of all 3 screens and the laptop has to be either center or to the right of the other two monitors. Up until now, this has involved me semi-precariously balancing the laptop slightly off the edge of the bookshelf and turned toward me so I can maintain a visual of it. It’s a solid bookshelf and the bulk of the laptop’s weight was supported by the bookshelf, so it wasn’t dangerously placed, but still a hazard. Accidents happen. I have ADHD, and do not sit still, so I shift around A Lot. My dog tends to join me for work and makes himself at home under my desk. Heck, New Jersey (where I live) had a couple earthquakes the other day. All of this lead up to this purchase. All I needed was something to make the top of the bookcase stick out a little longer so the laptop was properly supported. This was it! Exactly what I needed. Easy to assemble. It’s just 4 screws. The shelf is collapsable, in an intentional way—to prevent accidental collapse. It’s sturdy. It’s got some weight to it, but it’s not heavy and won’t topple the bookshelf (plus the bookshelf is also weighted down by the crafting supplies on it). I gave it a good few wiggle tests just to make sure everything was secure and didn’t need tightening. The screws are kind of short and you just screw them through the holes as instructed, so I wasn’t sure how good their hold would be, at first. It’s solid. It does its job and fulfills the exact need I had for it. I’m positively pleased with this purchase and take comfort in knowing my work laptop is secure now.

Loving this desk extender so far. I've been using it for a couple weeks to add more room for my computer desk. I use it to hold my keyboard, wrist rest, and Streamdeck. These are my observations: - There are 6 screws you have to put in to secure the shelf to the hardware; 3 on each side. Easy installation. - This wood shelf has these metal studs already built-in where screws go into, which means the screws don't actually dig into the wood and so you don't risk stripping the wood. It's a sign of a quality install. - Once mounted on your desk, the shelf surface is level with the top of the steel bracket. It would've been better if the shelf was level to the desk surface that it's mounted on. The difference is only about 2mm though. This is my only nitpick. - I bought the faux-carbon fiber version, which doesn't look like real carbon fiber but still looks good overall in my opinion. - The hardware feels very solid and the shelf lies perfectly flat when extended. - The latches are very easy to operate and you have to operate both latches at the same time to put the shelf back down. This means that even if one latch fails, it will still hold up. - When you fold the shelf back up, the latches will auto-lock into place which gives off a very satisfying and reassuring click. - I have a very thin solid-steel desk that's only about 2-3mm thick and I was able to mount it easily without having to add many spacers.

Great product! It's very sturdy and extremely well built. My elbow fits on it easily and can move around and it always stays on there. And then of course you can turn it downward if you want to get it out of the way. The materials used for the surface of the shelf itself are very high quality. Overall I love it!

When I first started working from home, I thought it would just be a few months, so just bought an inexpensive small L-shaped desk for temporary use. Four years later, still working from home, and I now have two large monitors, plus a laptop, and a few other accessories on my small desk, so there’s not much space left for when I want to take some notes during a meeting or such. I installed this tray easily on the right side of my desk and now I can just pop it up and use it for note-taking whenever I need it. It’s small, but certainly big enough for a writing surface. And when I don’t need it, it is folded down out of the way, so it is just perfect. I should mention that because my desk is only about 1/2 inch thick, we were a little concerned that it might eventually break from my pulling the tray up and down, so we decided to put a piece of 1x2 wood between the bottom of the clamp and the desk, to give it a bit more support. It’s not visible at all, and it is noticeably sturdier, so I’m glad we did this.

Really well designed and sturdy. Easy to fit and stays put and doesn't wobble. Helped me to solve the hanging elbow situation and a sore shoulder. Super pleased. I wish it was available in white, as my desk is white though.

This is a really good extension for my desk. It was very easy to construct and it's very well made. The only thing I would encourage people to do before ordering it to check the dimensions carefully. I didn't, and, because it's quite long, I can't actually get my legs under my desk anymore when it's in the 'down' position. This isn't a major issue for me, as I just always put it into the up position now when I'm working at the desk. I'm very pleased with it. Great value for money and gives me lots of extra desk space.
