Do you know people who have those goofy fabric drying pads, or maybe they think they are slightly fancier and have a giant rubber drying pad, or worse, maybe you're related to someone who utilizes a drying rack... If so, my condolences. All these methods of drying dishes are inferior and, quite frankly, offensive to someone as refined as yourself - as they should be. You know just as well as I do the issues with these methods. They smell, they don't allow airflow, shoot, half the time you have to clean these things too! It's absurd, it's barbaric, and it shouldn't be something someone of your caliber should ever have to worry about. This drying pad solves all those issues. Rubber is elevated off the stone so not only do things not chip, but there's airflow so the items dry much faster. The stone does not hold odor or mold, so people visiting you don't think you're someone they should stop sending Christmas cards to. No, this drying pad is the peak performer of all pads. Mine even came with a small crack, and you know what? It still operates like an absolute unit. And now I get more Christmas cards than ever. Make your neighbors jealous. Make your wife swoon. Have had for six months, and this is a fantastic option from Dorai! I live in a small, restored farm house there is minimal counter and cabinet space in the kitchen, a small double compartment sink, and no dish washer - so yeah, this gets used! A small drain rack for one of the compartments would not have worked well, and counter top drain racks are bulky - these are also hard to clean properly, can rust if not plastic, hard to store when there is not a lot of cabinet space either. Dorai to the rescue, truthfully! The Diatomaceous stone works as advertised. I love the silicon cover that allows the dishware to be raised up a little bit, and it protects the stone and counter from each other (DO NOT USE WITH MARBLE countertops per the company instructions though. I love that I can take the silicon off to clean it. I read reviews and remember some saying it mildews, I HAVE NOT had this problem at all. A tip, the mat does beautifully to soak up water and dry out, but I still generally let a lot of water drip off in the sink before putting onto the stone. If A LOT of water collects in a section of the honeycomb-ish silicon cover, I do a quick dab up with a clean, dry towel so the mat can absorb and dry out more efficiently. Perhaps this is how I avoid mildew? MUST HAVE for people handwashing a lot of dishes!

I waited a long time to purchase because of the price. I’m so happy I finally made the purchase. Love it! I still wipe underneath once dishes have dried. Wish it came in black but Absorbency , size and durability-grip are great! Packaging was great as well. Highly recommend!

It’s a great idea, but the realities of everyday use and the price tag make it fall short of being a worthwhile purchase. I think part of what you’re buying is the aesthetic of the item, so when it starts looking worn and cruddy after three months, it’s a huge disappointment. I followed the instructions and tried to make sure all my dishes were completely clean before drying them, but it’s impossible to prevent every little bit of residue or soot from building up over time. Eventually, it creates these small discolored squares that sanding doesn’t remove. And believe me, I sanded it extensively multiple times trying to get the stains out. I think you really need a larger size for adequate coverage, even if you only do a moderate amount of dishes, and you definitely pay for that upgrade. I take some responsibility for buying the sandstone version, since I’m sure the slate hides stains better, but I imagine they would still become visible eventually. I also knew sandstone would be harder to keep clean, so I made a real effort to maintain it, which I think says something on its own. I highly recommend saving yourself the time, money, and aggravation and just buying a silicone dish mat instead. As you can in the pictures, one side was more heavily used. The other was used less frequently but still looks pretty bad.

I saw this advertised and loved the idea of it but wasn’t too keen on the price. So I ordered a cheap knockoff. Boy was that a mistake. It was poorly designed to let water leak underneath and fester. I returned it and sucked it up to buy this one. I couldn’t be happier. This is so well made. The water never finds its way underneath, and it keeps things neat and clean. It is heavy duty, the silicone keeps dishes slightly elevated for best airflow. I also loved the color choice to fit my home. Plus, the size actually holds all the pots and pans we use to cook a meal. It is 30 times better than the cloth drying mats. And puts the cheap knockoffs to shame. I love it, don’t regret the purchase one bit.

Cannot recommend it! I bought it 8 months ago and within 4 months mildew appeared and white veiny lines. I have been careful to let it air dry between uses, but it didn’t seem to help much. We sand it regularly and not all spots can be removed. We sanded it 2 weeks ago and the video will show how poorly it holds up after maintenance. GROSS!! This product is too expensive to perform so poorly. It doesn’t look good on my counter anymore and within one year of purchase this will go in the trash. I’ll be looking for a new product to replace this hunk of junk.
