When hung upside down, can you flip the image?

Accepted Answer

Yes, as some would prefer to hang/ mount the cam (physically) upside down. If this is preferred simply go into the "Advance settings" in your app, look for and click the "180 degrees" and the image will be inverted to the new upright image.  If you decide to change the cam to the upright (physically) mounted position, just turn the same 180 degree setting (within Advance settings) and the image will flip to match the cam mounting perspective. Help this helped.

Question 2

Do i have to use the wyze cam app with this? Can i use a more generic app like TinyCam etc to view live video just based on ip address?

Using the Tiny Cam Pro ($3.99) and it works with the 4 Wyze Cam's, two are Pan/Tilt cameras.  It is able to control the camera and move up/down and left/right.   Also to hear and speak to the microphone.   Tiny Cam Pro also enables uploading the continuous video to the One Drive and Google Drive, in addition to doing it to local storage.   The video resolution looks like it decreased, but being able to see all four cameras with live stream is great.  The camera is connected based on the account ID and password and camera # (1-4), not IP address.    Depending on the Wifi connection to the camera, the video will drop and then restart.
  Overall, I'd recommend it.

Question 3

It looks identical to the Xiaomi Dafang camera.  Are they the same?

Yep,   WYZE is just OEMd from Xiaomi Dafang.  The WYZE firmware is much better, there is 0 value from picking up the Xiaomi Dafang slightly cheaper because it is buggy.  Personally I feel that WYZE is being a little misleading with the american small business success story.  They take inexpensive Chinese equipment with shoty firmware and replace it with higher quality American firmware. But in the end it is probably the best quality/price camera you will find.

Will thIs record if you dont have wi-fi in range?

The short answer is "yes."  That said, you will need to buy a micro SD card, up to 32gb and install it into the camera for video storage.  You will also need to set up your camera within WIFI range.  NOTE: Do NOT install the SD card into the camera until after the camera is connected to WIFI and is set up.  The camera MUST be turned on when you install the SD card for the first time.  After setting it up, you can move it to it's  permanent home.  To view what your camera has been seeing, you'll have to remove the micro SD card and view it in a computer.  You would not have to do this if you were in WIFI range.
