Best Yogurt Starter You Can Buy! 😍
Having visited Bulgaria many times I already knew of the benefits of eating top quality yogurt so I was delighted when I came across Genesis Bulgarian starter culture. Now on my fifth batch I can confirm this makes fantastic yogurt! This pack contains 10 capsules [individual portions] that you open and add to 2 litres of pasteurised milk when it has reached the correct temperature. It's really easy to make and once you've made one batch it's easy to make the next by using 2 tablespoons of your yogurt per litre of milk. Or if you've eaten all of your yogurt [easy to do] just use another capsule. The health benefits of Bulgarian yogurt is celebrated worldwide and the healthy bacteria so much more beneficial than the vast majority of probiotics we buy in capsule form plus it's delicious to eat, on it's own, with fruit or in raita, added to a smoothie, the options are endless and at a fraction of the price. Best of all I can now make Ayran at home which is the most thirst quenching, nutritious and delicious hangover cure ever! Mix 1/3 glass of yogurt, 1/3 water, 1/3 ice and 1/3 teaspoon of pink Himalayan salt. Of course you don't have to just drink it when you've got a hangover, Bulgarians drink it in huge quantities all day. It is a slightly acquired taste but by my third drink I was hooked so I am over the moon that I can now make this at home. Can't recommend this product enough, buy it and you will never buy shop bought, additive and sugar filled yogurt again!

Great starter
I’ve been making yogurt for years and this is the best and easiest starter I’ve used.

Great yogurt
This is absolutely lovely yogurt, easy to make and tastes delicious. I have used only one capsule so far to make initial yogurt adding 1 litre of milk. From first batch I remade using 3 tablespoons again to 1 litre and the second and now third batch have produced even tastier thicker yogurt than the original one. Well worth the money and soo good for you, go ahead and buy you won’t regret it

It did not work - at all
Apart from the instructions being written in the Crylic Alphabet, I tracked down a website citing this product and how it should be made. I used fresh, whole organic milk, (as I always do in my yoghurt maker) followed the instructions using one capsule to 1 ltr of milk. Having warmed the milk first, I added the culture, filled the jars in my yoghurt maker, (which makes excellent yoghurts) set the timer and awoke with great expectations to find the milk as runny as if it had just come out of the bottle! The culture did not work at all. Being the eternal optimist, I returned the milk to the saucepan, added another TWO capsules for good measure, and have kept the pan (with the lid on) on setting number one on my hob for an hour to give it gentle heat and hopefully prod it into life. I am now going to transfer it to my yoghurt maker and see what happens. This product is in the Last Chance Saloon. I desperately want it to work, but if it doesn't, I shall let you know. On the other hand, if someone has some advice as to where I have gone wrong or a better way of doing it then please let me know since I have another 7 capsules to use up. * New day, new result. In fairness, the yoghurt set in the top half of the jar, becoming runnier the further down I went. The bottom half can best be described as the runny consistency of Kefir. The flavour was delicious.

I have found this makes a decent live yoghurt. I added it to some UHT milk and found if I also stirred in some powdered milk it would make a nice thick yoghurt in my yoghurt maker by the next day. I like the taste, but also like to add some nesquick, or cocoa, or chocolate bits etc to create a flavoured yoghurt... This only works once it has turned into yoghurt - I experimented by adding some nesquick to the initial mixture before it became yoghurt and it didn't work and didn't turn into yoghurt, so it is best to only make this culture up with milk and to add any flavour later.

no English instructions
This comes in a surprisingly small packet, but that probably doesn't matter. The big problem is, the instructions are all in slavonic languages. There are some picture ones, but not adequate. If you've never made yogurt before, I would avoid this product. I have made a lot of yogurt, and used my Esiyo yogurt maker. it worked out ok in the end, but took twice as long as it used to do with my usual yogurt mixes. (I had to replenish the hot water). Tastes good , nice and thick. OK if you don't mind experimenting and working out how to do it for yourself

I want to thank the people at Natural Probiotic Selection Ltd, for being so very helpful
I want to thank the people at Natural Probiotic Selection Ltd, for being so very helpful. They responded promptly and helpfully to each of my many messages/questions concerning the making of yogurt. The yogurt has turned out creamy and good. I have made 4 batches with one capsule (using the yogurt as a starter 3 times). For the 3 batches where I have used the yogurt as a starter I have had an incubation time of 5 hours, overnight in my cold kitchen. I have been using full cream organic milk, but will try full cream Jersey/Guernsey milk for the batch. Thanks again for all the helpful advice.

Fermento de yogur de buena calidad
Cunde bastante y los yogures salen deliciosos. Si guardas un poco del yogur puedes hacer otra tanda y “estirar” más la duración.

I have never had great success with yogurt until I tried this starter culture
I have never had great success with yogurt until I tried this starter culture. I made mine plain and was very surprised at how thick, creamy, and flavorful the yogurt turned out. To start, I heat up the organic whole milk and keep it warm for about 30 minutes. I used the Euro Cuisine YM100 with a single large glass bowl for about 10 hours and it turns out perfect. Great product.
