The lens works great. I should have ordered a little smaller. I was able to capture some great pics. Compatible with my camera as said.

Takes Some Getting Used To
This lens can do a decent job of focusing after time is taken to put in the practice. I am new to using a DSLR camera, so my opinions could be off. I borrowed my dad's Nikon D5000 camera, and this zoom lens connected well to the camera. This lens requires the camera to be set to the manual photography setting, which made picture taking more difficult for me. I set the camera's exposure and shutter speed to capture outdoor photography of mostly birds. The majority of pictures would come out well, but I would occasionally have issues with over or under exposures based on my manual setting. The subject would look good to my eye through the camera's view finder, but the imagine could end up completely different. This is definitely a factor of my inexperience with this type of camera. To focus, the lens needs to be twisted clockwise or counter-clockwise. To zoom, the lens needs to be manually extended out. Even if focus is achieved at one zoom level, the focus will need to be slightly adjusted after zooming in or out to a new level. At its smallest, the lens measures just over 9 inches long. At full zoom, the lens measures approximately 12.5 inches long.

Dismal
I never expected to get a good quality lens at the price you pay for this one. A lens with this focal range made by Nikon would cost you thousands and thousands of dollars. So you know straight away that this is going to be for very occasional use. Then it arrived. Holy moly! This probably the worst lens I've ever put on my Nikon D4. As someone else said, you're better off getting a good 200mm lens and cropping in, and still you'd have a better quality image. Personally, I think you're better off throwing it at the bird you're hoping to photograph, hoping it will knock the bird dead, stuffing the bird and then perching it on a branch 5 feet away with a 50mm lens. That's the only way you'll get a clearer image and an easier way to go about it too...... You may decide to get this lens out of curiosity. Resist the temptation.

Works in theory, but not in practice
You come across a telephoto lens that can go up to 800 mm for just around $50, with a nice looking metal body and the right fit for your lens mount -- what an unbelievable deal, right? Well, indeed this is one of those "too good to be true" kind of deals... In theory, looking at the specs and the instructions, you should be able to take advantage of this extremely inexpensive zoom with some extra effort and handling. In practice, after spending an hour with it, I haven't been able to get a single good picture. At this price, obviously you're not getting an AF/Auto-Focus lens, but this is not necessarily a show-stopper. Your camera will only acknowledge the lens in Manual mode, which you can live with. You haven't shot in Manual mode recently, so you try to guess the ISO/Shutter settings and fix the settings. A lens with this length is on the heavy side, so you have a tripod ready. If you put screw the tripod to the camera with the lens on, it will not stay balanced, so you're happy to see that there's a tripod connection in the middle of the lens that can be used instead, and it can also be adjusted back/forth to help you balance the camera with the lens. However, your camera will start complaining about the low light. You provide additional lighting on to the subject, but just pressing the shutter will move the camera and you will fail to get a good shot. If you switch to self-timer or remote control of the camera, you're still at the mercy of the winds and breezes. Ultimately, you get tired of trying to zoom at this high level and go back to an original lens with built-in image stabilizer. Ultimately, it's just too much work to get a good, usable picture with this lens, and it's absolutely impossible without a heavy-duty tripod and some luck on your side. It's cheap enough that you can buy to experiment with it, but I'm not sure it's worth that either. Not recommended...

Amazing
This lens is amazing. My daughter has the Nikon d3200 and this was amazing and great quality. The price was so worth it.

On the fence
Unfortunately I need a adapter to make this work with the model of camera I have however, from the feel and touch of the product it doesnโt feel as sturdy as youโd expect from this type of product. zoom Does slide nicely

Great if you know how to use it
I have been a professional photographer for a few years and I dealt with quite a few lenses with my Nikon DSLR cameras. I obviously prefer fast lenses that are between F1.4 to F4 but this one is a great zoom lens if used with a tripod and preferably with a remote or the camera internal timer. The manual focus limits the use of the lens - obviously it is not designed for action photos and especially sports photography because of the f/8.3-16 aperture. But for still items such as a landscape detail from far away or even the moon, it is quite a budget friendly option. The pictures I took are sharp. I am satisfied with the product - keep in mind that auto focus lenses with these ranges are typically over $1000.

inexpensive, and acts like it, but for steady stable shots or training, a good buy
Lightdow Telephoto Zoom Lens 420-800mm f/8.3-16 Manual Lens F Mount Lens for Nikon D5500 D3300 D3200 D5300 D3400 D7200 D750 D3500 D7500 D500 D600 D700 D800 D810 D850 D3100 D5100 D5200 SLR Camera Lens Know this up front: A high end high quality lens of this range is going to cost you anywhere from a thousand USD to MANY thousands. Here we have a lens at $70 or so. Temper your expectations accordingly. For steady shots in no wind and proper mounting this will do. Yes, you will fiddle with it endlessly, as I did. Yes, you will wish you had a smaller lens and could find the time and energy to crop. Yep. All of that. But, Joe Police Officer on surveillance are you? For such a steady shot across the street into an apartment, or watching over a time-lapse in a dangerous lab environment, again, steady shot, this lens which is constructed well, for which the slide works on focus reasonably well, and the price is $70, you will do fine. So will your beginner you don't want to trust with your Zeiss lenses!
