Neon Genesis Evangelion, Vol. 1

What more can I say? This beautiful collection of the Evangelion manga is what I'd consider a love letter to the fans. The first three volumes of the original manga are reproduced in sharp quality, and between each volume are full color art pages, interviews, and statements from the artists and others who worked on Evangelion. Incredible quality collector's piece at a great price, and after finishing the anime, I can't wait to dive into the manga experience for the first time!

This is the first omnibus book that contains books 1, 2, and 3 of the original manga series. For any Neon Genesis Evangelion anime fan, it is a fun read. From the novel back-to-front read, to the Japanese “sound effects” (there is a glossary for what the sounds mean, if you are that interested!), to the pages of commentary from those who were involved with the television production, this is a necessary companion for anyone wanting to get more out of the Evangelion world. There is a lot that is familiar, but a lot of great additional character development and plots that are not part of the original anime series. I have blasted through both the first and second omnibus books, but am trying to pace my way through because I want to savor it. Most of the content is in black-and-white with some limited full-color pages at book transitions. The books itself has a high-quality cover that will put up with multiple-reads, as I am sure I will put it through!

I recently got into the Evangelion series after watching the first and second reboot films on Cartoon Network and became addicted! To me, this is the best way to consume your intake of Neon Genesis Evangelion, mainly because one of these volumes is cheaper (usually) than buying all three volumes on their own. I think that Sadamoto's version of the story is just as good as any portion of the show or the films. I'd have to agree with all the other reviewers who have stated that the character development and the flow of certain scenes is much better in the manga as well. I can't praise the story, characters and artwork of these manga enough. If you are a long time fan of Evangelion, or are just getting interested in the series like I am, these 3-in-1 volumes are a great jumping in point.

the physical weight of this book shocked me - this, by far, was printed with the highest quality paper i've ever seen a soft cover book printed with. i own hundreds of books right now and have handled thousands over the years and i'm really impressed. more of this please.

Published by Viz, these are generously sized 3-in-1's that aestetically look amazing (even has printing across the bindings of all four vols that, when set side by side, read "Evagelion"). Some color printed pages, decent paper stock and great art printing. These books are big, thick and heavy. It's all genuine too as it was illustrated by the original artist of Eva. Just FYI: there is a 13th vol that does not match these 3-in-1's looks-wise (smaller book with matte cover instead of gloss), and a rumored 14th vol on the way. Very surprised at: The price - I tried to get the original single volume prints instead, but these 3-in-1's were SO much cheaper. It was seriously a no brainer...and glad I bought 'em. and The story - The story remains true to the original series, yet changes enough parts to make it an interesting read if you've already seen the series/films, and a must read for fans (a must own actually, considering the amazing price. I was looking at $100+ to get all the single volumes)

Decided to go with the Kindle edition after reading the reviews about the paperback copy bending issues. Can read online without problem. The visuals and the story are amazing! I highly recommend this manga !

Ele vem com bastante conteúdo extra

Cette édition regroupe trois livres du manga par volume. Ce qui fait qu’ils sont moins chers à l’achat (surtout si comme moi vous vous procurez version « électronique »). Sinon, si vous achetez la version « physique »,vous pouvez toujours collectionner les livres ou encore acheter le coffret avec les cinq volumes d’un coup. Je recommande vivement cette version pour découvrir la saga en faisant attention à vos sous. Il s’agit ici de l’adaptation en manga de la série animée et en anglais.

Great book and illustration the only minor complaint is that the delivery and the condition of the book but overall still with getting.
