Amazon Made Fire TV Alexa Voice Remote with TV controls, requires compatible Fire TV device

My original Alexa voice remote that came with my 2022 Fire TV Stick 4K Max started playing up before stopping altogether. I tried the obvious fixes first, like changing the batteries and resetting the remote by holding down the left directional button, the back button, and the menu (three lines) button simultaneously for 12 seconds. While that trick actually got the old remote working again for a single day, it completely packed up the very next day. When looking for a replacement, I decided to go for the genuine Amazon remote rather than the cheaper third-party alternatives, mainly because the budget options use infrared rather than proper Bluetooth. This genuine Amazon remote works absolutely perfectly with no pairing issues at all. In fact, it actually feels slightly better and more robust than the one that originally came with my Fire Stick. There is also one small design difference that I personally prefer: this model features four shortcut buttons at the bottom for Amazon Music, Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, and an "Apps" button. My older remote had a dedicated Disney+ button instead, so I prefer that this new version gives me a direct shortcut straight to all my installed apps. Every single feature works exactly as it should, including controlling my TV's volume and power. Setup was also quick and incredibly easy. I simply turned off the Fire TV Stick at the wall socket, plugged it back in, and as it was loading up, I inserted the batteries into the new remote. After waiting a minute or two, a message popped up on the screen saying a remote was not detected. I just pressed and held the home button for 10 seconds, and a new message immediately confirmed the remote had paired successfully. It is a good, hassle free replacement. Amazon wouldn't post my last review because it focused too much on their lack of ability to replace the item under warranty despite it being the most simple of tasks. So here is my honest review of the product. (See update at end of review before deciding!) It didn't last 5 weeks before failing completely. As many other reviews mention, these fail regularly and eat batteries like money is no option. It's cheap tech , especially for the outrageous price of it and now you pretty much need one for use with the show 15 as they removed most touchscreen functionality to sell more of these remotes. I have not get managed to get a replacement under warranty so I am stuck with a broken remote as I refuse to pay another £30 for it. Do not buy one. UPDATE: After 4? Maybe 5 phone calls (some hours over a couple of days) someone new actually said yes no problem of course we can exchange that for you without any difficulty despite me being told multiple times it was impossible? I can only guess that Amazon fixed whatever issue selling then replacing it as part of a bundle was. The new device works just fine (for some months now) no battery issues either. Thanks mystery customer service rep. Rating upped. If it lasts a year I'll give it 5!

Ok, so I love the Firestick. I’ve had several over the last 5-6 years, multiple generations, and there are currently three in our home which we use. The newest being the 4K. Last year, the remote stopped working. The issue being that it kept draining new batteries within a 24hr period. Amazon sent me a replacement (but not until I challenged and pressurised them.) I received that replacement in October 2022. It has worked fine, up until this week when the exact same issue occurred. I know it’s the same issue because if I replace the batteries, it works perfectly for about a day, and then stops working (battery shows as “Offline”. If I replace the batteries again, all is well for about another day. There are clearly hardware/software issues with the remote, and I’m neither prepared to buy a replacement (£29.99) or to keep feeding it AAA batteries. I know there are other people out there that have experienced the same problem, since it’s pretty well documented online. Posting this review for awareness and also because I want to vent about the utterly shoddy product stability.

Ho acquistato questo telecomando e funziona perfettamente. L’associazione con la Fire TV è stata rapidissima e i comandi vocali con Alexa rispondono in modo preciso. I tasti sono comodi da usare e la qualità generale è ottima. Molto pratico per navigare nei contenuti senza dover digitare tutto manualmente. Prodotto davvero utile!

Ich nutze die Alexa-Sprachfernbedienung nun seit einiger Zeit mit meinem Amazon Fire TV und bin sehr zufrieden. Die Einrichtung ging schnell und problemlos, die Fernbedienung wurde sofort erkannt. Die Sprachsteuerung funktioniert zuverlässig und reagiert zügig. Sender, Apps oder Inhalte lassen sich bequem per Sprache starten. Auch die zusätzlichen TV-Steuerungstasten sind praktisch und ersetzen bei mir weitgehend die originale TV-Fernbedienung. Die Verarbeitung wirkt hochwertig, die Tasten haben einen guten Druckpunkt und die Fernbedienung liegt angenehm in der Hand. Im Alltag ist sie übersichtlich und intuitiv zu bedienen. Fazit: Zuverlässige und praktische Fernbedienung, die den Fire-TV-Alltag deutlich komfortabler macht. Für alle, die Fire TV regelmäßig nutzen, eine klare Empfehlung.
