Gloves make the steamer so much safer to use. Often I just wear one glove to hold on the back of the fabric as support. These fit my hand well and are tall enough to cover above my wrist.

Mine came missing one of the telescopic segments. I suppose we could use it if we steam on our knees.

Do not buy. This is the flimsiest, cheapest pile of materials you will ever see and handle in your lifetime. If you stare at it too long, it will fall apart out of fear. Afterwards it will file a HR complaint against you due to extreme intimidation. Do not waste your money. I not know if there is a sturdy variant of this item, but this is not the one.

If you’re buying a garment steamer for the first time you need to buy some protective mittens as the steam is really hot, much more than I expected. These mittens are excellent because they’re thin so you can still use your hands properly but they also work very effectively to protect your hands from the steam. Also they’re a bit space age which is nice.

It helps me a lot to not get steam burns when I use my iron. It is an essential personal protection element.

The mitts are not elongated and are just the length of my hand, finger tip to wrist. They are not particularly thick either but do seem to be waterproof. Although I ordered the extended mitts, which is what i wanted, I received the shorter ones and also the pad.
