Lyric RCH9300WF Wi-Fi Thermostat

So far I'm not very impressed. I bought this model mainly for the geofencing feature which hasn't worked too well for me. It does not reliably turn the heat off when we're gone or on when we arrive home. I was very disappointed to learn that the time settings (i.e. turn the heat down 5 degrees at 11pm when I go to bed) takes precedence over the geofencing. If you're going away for the weekend you have to hold the temperature, otherwise it will kick back to it's regular settings at the 1st time trigger. Seems to me that geofencing ought to take priority, or I should at least be able to set the priority. I am hopeful that this capability will come in a future upgrade. On the plus side it was very easy to install. They have great step by step instructions that you can walk through on your smart phone. Update: geofencing went from flaky to not working at Honeywell has not been able to troubleshoot it so I'm sending it back. Dropping my review to 1 star.

I went with the Lyric over the Nest primarily for the geofencing and the Fine Tune feature that takes into account the indoor humidity and outdoor temperature when regulating the indoor temp on your home. I installed it a couple of weeks ago with no issues. Very straightforward in my application and it works just as it should. I like the look of it, the smart features and also enjoy the Amazon price.

Looses conductivity to the wireless that is less than 30 feet away. I have 5, in 2 homes and have to re boot all the time. Near less useless as a remote device. Works well if you are home, but so did the $19.95 one it replaced .

I installed this very quickly (just follow the app instructions and take a picture of your previous thermostat wires). The product works very well, its a little weird figuring out how to actually control your heating and cooling over a schedule as I like to do. Geofencing is nice but when I'm home I like the thermostat to decrease heat in winter and let the house heat up in summer while we are sleeping. It uses apps to do this which took a minute to figure out but it works very well.

I am stunned that the legendary Honeywell produced such a failure. With competition from the NEST and EccoBee you would think Honeywell would be at it's best, but they made a donkey out of themselves and me for trusting the brand and purchasing one. Gonna get string to my frustration, I purchased this product solely for the hyped GEO-Fence capability and IT DOES NOT WORK! Few tickets into technical support and they responded about getting their best man on the job .. 3 months later no response .. reply to the ticket and update it .. no response. Their technical support just deleted my ticket with no status update or resolution because they know its a fail. I SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT THE NEST! This is a total pace of crap. Trying to program various tempters as you would with a non "Smart" thermostat or a NEST and the Honeywell its very limited. You can only program the time of your set "Away" temp and set "Home" temp. wow .. really? Smart my foot. The iOS leaves SO MUCH to be desired compared to the NEST and if you change the temp and switch to another app to quickly it does not work. Now they offer a 2nd gen because this one is such a POS, do you think I am stupid enough to drop $250 AGAIN?

UPDATE: So, I returned the old busted Honeywell Lyric, and ordered a new replacement. This one actually had all of the required pieces, and works as it should. I've only had it installed for a day, but it seems to be working great so far. I have yet to try to geo-fencing, but at least the configuration process was very simple. Installation could not have been any easier, just had to follow the simple step-by-step instructions in the Lyric mobile app, using the picture instructions. Set up is also easy, took less than 5 minutes from boot up to air on. For some reason, the Lyric app wants to access the contacts in my phone...no idea why. Location services I understand, but not contacts. Old review: DOA, dead on arrival. The thermostat was shipped with a dead lithium AAA battery, so I had to supply my own (no big deal, just a simple battery) The main reason for the 1-star rating is that the unit arrived with a defective base plate. The contact in the Y terminal was gone, missing, no where to be found. This is only kinda sorta important because the Y terminal powers the AC compressor relay. Thank you Amazon returns for allowing me to return this useless product!

This is probably the best thermostat on the market. I own 2 and the app is great. Dont know why people dont like it. Took me 10 minutes to install and 10 more to get working.

Geotagging is awesome. My client was very happy. Only issue that I see is that there is no functionality in the actual interface. Like, cool - It can show me the weather on the thermostat interface. But I can't control the fan from it? Pft. I do love honeywell controllers, though. Highly recommended.
