Homedics QRM-400H Therapist Select Quad-Roller Shiatsu & Rolling Massaging Cushion with Heat

I suffer from tension headaches because of very tight back muscles. I also suffer from sciatica from lower back muscle issues. I see a massage therapist once a month for an hour an my chiropractor afterwards. The time between visits can be painful.... This chair is so great to fill in the void between visits. The quad rolling is awesome. It really stretches out those tight muscles and knots. I follow with the shiatsu which is great. I love the feature where you can choose "spot" treatment it keeps the rollers on that perfect spot to work out knots and you can move it up and down as you need to. The heat is wonderful to help relax the muscles, too. The "width" feature on the rollers is great because every's back is different and your knots don't develop in the same place, so it's great to fully work my back. I got this delivered to my office and all the girls want one for the office. When I feel a headache coming on, I use this chair for 10 minutes and I am relaxed and the headache goes away--without meds! The only con: it does not go high enough on your back so you have to do the lower portion, and then I re-adjust the mat so that it gets the upper shoulders and if I get it just right, a little of my neck, too. I would highly recommend this unit!

I tried the cheaper model at the local Walgreens and while it was enjoyable I figured a quad-roller system with two kinds of massage would be better - and happily I was right! This is worth the extra bucks because it is a much more relaxing total back and shoulder massage. The unit is ready to go right out of the box - just unscrew the cord on the back (they include a little wrench) plug it in and sit down. I put it on my office chair and because it is a bit bigger than the other models and I had to do some re-adjusting of my chair. Once I did, it fit perfectly and is comfortable to sit on all the time (there is no mechanism in the seat - it is just an attached cushion). There is shiatsu for lower and upper back plus a rolling massage that has an excellent width adjustment. Everything is at your fingertips with the attached controller and you can even add optional heat to any massage you get. I have to slink down a bit to get it to do my shoulders but it really shines on the middle and lower back. My lower back never felt so good. This is a superb alternative to a $2000 massage chair.

Let 1st say I have owned a Panasonic shiatsu massage chair for 18 years. I knew that it was a matter of time before I wore it out. It finally started having problems and it is now (retired). I immediately started looking for a replacement. A new chair can run into the thousand of dollars so I opted to try the QRM-400H The 400H massage feels more like hands rolling over your back. It has smooth motion and is not a pounding massage. The Panasonic was like feet pounding on you and more of a deep tissue massage. I find it very relaxing especially with the heat turn on. For now I am satisfied with this units performance. If it lasts through the 2 year warranty I will be happier still. Old Update, the rotating massage is now broken. Now I have to deal with the warranty to get it fixed. I wondered how long this unit would last. Now I know. I would not buy another of these. New update, Homedics came thru with replacement. It was fast and no questions asked. I'm re-rating this unit as it works OK and I will use it in my RV.

I bought this primarily because my wife's back continually knots up and causes her pain and lack of sleep. We had both used the dual roller model which has been on display at our area Walgreen's pharmacies. They were nice. When I saw a good price on the quad roller model with heat I thought I'd give it a try. I am not afraid to spend a little extra for an added benefit, but I don't spend $150 on a whim, either. This product does what it advertises. As long as you follow the warning to remove the screw at the bottom of the chair (it apparently locks the moving parts in place during shipping, and the necessary Allen wrench is attached,) the setup is easy and the controls are simple to master. It took two or three sessions over a couple of days to get used to the massage. I suppose it takes a few applications to undo muscle knots which took years to develop. The heat rises quickly and adds noticeably to the experience. This product is now part of our nightly routine. It takes fifteen minutes to go through whichever cycle we choose and we sleep better. As other reviews have stated, we wish the rollers would go up higher on the back. My wife wishes it would go a little lower, too. She'd like to try laying it on the bed and positioning it where she wants, but the product makes no provision for that kind of use. I imagine putting full body weight on the rollers would damage the motor.

I have seen reviews where people complain this chair hurts them and actually (sorry) I find that a bit funny. You have to position yourself in this cushion to find the way that you would feel comfortable. Just sit down on it easy and try it out to see where you need to be. Will it give a the best deep tissue massage - Yes. Will the heat element work extremely well during that massage - Yes! Will the massage chair position itself against you and turn itself off when the heat gets to hot - No! I have tried different vibrating gravity chairs and they do not work. I have tried just about ever kind of massager there is and this Homedics Therapist Cushion is by far the best and most superior of them all. I have moderate arthritis, mostly in my upper back and between the shoulder blades,every now and then in the lower back. This cushion takes care of it all, if it is to much pressure I just sit up off of it a little bit, if the heat gets to hot I just switch it off on the remote. It heats up super fast and gets down deep in every spot I need. Remember to at least wear a shirt because the mesh material can feel a little rough, but that material is needed for this cushion to do what it does freely. Some people are just way to picky and expect everything to adjust for them, which is just silly. For more elderly people, I would suggest a towel between you and the cushion or a different product. This cushion is geared for athletes and those who enjoy a little pain in those troubled sore spots for relief. Sometimes it is true - no pain no gain. The button that allows you to pause the Shiatsu kneeding on your favorite spot is awesome. I have never had a product work so well and my back has benefited from this product. I feel like a new man, so it gets 5 stars from me. Also if you sit off the cushion a little and slouch into it you "CAN" reach those high spots near the neck and upper shoulders. Oh yeah

Started out great. Very comfortable so I used it. In 8 months it already stopped working. No technical support and NO WARRANTY so not much you can do subsequently. On the Amazon site it claims there is a 2 year warranty...but when you get in touch with the manufacturer they tell you that the product has been discontinued and they do not honor the warranty...even though they advertise it and continue to sell it claiming it has a warranty. A scam by Homedics and Amazon. Don't buy it.

First, the positive: We really love this thing. The ability to select upper, lower or full back; the ability to select shiatsu or roller; the ability to find and hold a spot on shiatsu; the ability to adjust the width on roller; the ability to add heat with any setting - it all feels wonderful. (We have had it for only a day, so we have no testimony as to its durability.) Now for the nitpicking: The blue L.E.D. illuminator lights are always on, when the unit is plugged in, even when the power is off (except in the Heat mode, when it switches to the red lights). The only way to extinguish the blue lights is to unplug the unit, which is not as convenient. The owners manual is silent on this, so I'm not sure if this is by design or a defect. Actually, they could have eliminated the illuminator lights and I would still be thrilled. To me, they are just a gimmick intended to wow us, but I'm not impressed. Did it ever occur to the designers that when you are seated on this, you can't see the lights? It is such a minor nitpicking point that I still give it a 5 star rating and recommend it.

I have suffered from chronic back for > 30 years. It is worst in the morning, starting with getting out of bed and then continuing usually for a good hour before my back settles down. Once sitting for breakfast I used to find it painful to get up out of my chair until I had been up a while. So I have started to use this back massager as soon as I get up. I make a cup of coffee and sit in a chair with the massager and let it work my lower back (in Shiatsu mode). I find 15 minutes is not long enough, so I recycle it for a second 15 minute session once the device shuts off. I can say without hesitation that getting up after sitting for breakfast is no longer an issue for me. My back feels relaxed now after my 30 minute session. It is almost like having your own masseuse to give you a rub down in the morning. I wish I had bought one of these years ago. Thought it was a gimmick. Well it's not. To me it's worth it's weight in gold. Hopefully it will hold up as I am using it every day. Even other members of my family now use it from time to time after a stressful day at work. What a great product.
