Review: Nice Quality - I had to order this recorder for one of my Master's courses for Clinical Mental Health Counseling, being a graduate student and working full time, I still am trying to save some money. This recorder look nice, does record very nicely, is small enough to hide or no allow for disruptions from potential clients. The recorder has ways to remove the recordings onto a computer once the recorder becomes full, which is something that I will definitely need. It also looks very sharp. I hope it lasts long, because it was a great value for the price if so. Review: Failed.. - I had to record a 45 minute interview for a college class, then transcribe it on paper.. this recording was 17 minutes long and it was all jibberish. You could make out a word or two but then it would scribble the next 30 seconds or so of talk into 2 to 3 seconds of tape. It was impossible to decode and impossible to understand.. I wouldn't recommend this especially if this is for something you really need to record and can't redo!!

The instructions are useless. It reads as though it is written by ...
I originally gave this a one star because I couldn't figure out how to use the record button. I was holding and expecting it to come on immediately, but that wasn't happening. When I hit record and released it quickly, it worked. My bad. I do, however, think the instructions could be clearer. Very poorly written in my opinion. But, on the positive side, the playback is clear and good quality.

Great sound plus convenient
Easy to use right out the box. I thought i would just use this for class but it has come in handy a few times. Small and light so its convenient to keep on you at all times. Good battery life.

I would avoid this product.
I only like how small it is. After several test environments, I have determined that this a waste of money. 1: The built in mic is garbage. After 10 ft, you are struggling to hear anything that was recorded, even while listening with headphones on. 2: The recording has an automatic pause feature which causes recording to stop when it "doesn't hear" anything. When audio resumes, it sounds like a corrupted audio file you collect on Horizon: Zero Dawn (great game btw). As far as I know, it's a setting that cannot be changed. 3: Lack of settings. Extreme lack of settings. 4: I set the recorder 5 ft from a sound bar which was at a normal volume.... didn't pick anything up. 5: Buttons feel cheap and rattle. 6: The gloss finish is nice to the eyes, but collects finger prints. Also, if you have hot hands, it will slip right out. Maybe buy a case? 7: Instructions look as if they were typed and printed by a 7 year old. 8: The only noise cancelling I noticed, was that the recorder considered most audio as noise. Long story short, I spent the extra money and bought the Sony UX560. I'm not sending the other one back. I'm sure my kid can play with it or something. Maybe my unit was defective, but I'm not taking any chances.

Not what I expected
A lot of static, no noise reduction, very confusing to work, and my recordings would skip. Every time I would try and listen to a lecture, it sounded like a scratched CD.
