Light weight, compact, and great customer service.
I use these for hunting. I love how light and compact they are. They store easily in my side backpack pocket when not in use. The poles are simple to deploy and sturdy. I put a lot of weight on them when hiking and don't feel like there is a chance of snapping one. I did have the locking button fall out of one pole, but I cut a small stick and put in the hole to get me out with part of a deer on my back. I got home and e-mailed tac9er about my problem and in 2 days they sent me a new set. Great people to work with stand behind their product great customer service. I would recommend these to anyone interested in trekking poles.

Just OK - Hard to "Assemble"
ORIGNINAL REVIEW:I was really looking forward to replacing my aluminum treking poles with these carbon fiber ones. They are lighter and skinnier than my current poles. However, these are junk! DO NOT BUY!The poles come packed with nice set of baskets and tips in a nice carrying case. The poles fold up (as opposed to sliding inside of itself). Clear directions are included. When I follow the directions and attempt to tighten the poles, no silver button pops out. The poles are thus loose and come apart when lifted off the ground.I returned the 1st set of poles I received and was sent a second pair. I had the same issue with that second set, leading me to believe either setting up these poles according to the directions is too complex for me, or the poles are defective. Either way, I don't like these poles and do not recommend them to others.UPDATED REVIEW:The manufacturer's Customer Service team contacted me to help understand what I might be doing wrong. The instructions show the pulling up of the segment to lock (silver button). What I was missing was you need to put the poles on the ground before pulling up, and then pull up really, really hard. Finally got it to lock as expected! The poles work nicely now. However - still a pain to put together versus my expending poles and take up more space when not in use.Better than not having trekking poles but not my favorite. (My son is happy for that because he now has a pair!)

Light and sturdy
These are my first folding trekking poles, and I like these so much better than my old aluminum telescoping poles. The shafts fold much shorter (15") than my old poles (over 25") which means I'm so much more likely to bring these poles along on casual hikes since they fit completely inside my day pack. Also, a huge plus is that they'll easily fit inside my carry on bag when I'm traveling. These poles are also easy to hight-adjust since once you assemble the three parts; there is only one hight adjustment to make instead of two on a telescoping pole. The composite shaft helps to make these very light. Each pole is 211g/7.44oz without tips or baskets. I like that they seem very sound -- they don't rattle or buzz when you plant. I'm 6'0" and these are the perfect size for me: I set the length at 120-123 CM and still can shorten 5 CM when going uphill. My wife is 5'6" and 115 CM is good for normal walking but there's no room to go shorter than 115CM for uphill. I wouldn't recommend these poles for anyone shorter than 5'6".The wrist straps are not padded like the ones on my old poles, but these straps are very smooth and soft which seems okay. I have walked about 6 miles with these and they haven't given me any problems. The straps are easy to adjust -- just pull on the loose end to tighten. The foam hand grips seem very comfortable. These poles came complete with rubber tips, three basket sizes: 2", 3.5" and 4" diameter, a handy storage bag, and two elastic bands, which are handy keeping the poles together when not using the storage bag.Keep on trekkin'!** Note: Yes, Amazon sent me this item for review, but the review is completely based on my own experience. Thanks for reading my review **

Unable to use
I wanted to like these trekking poles. They were light, folded into a compact size, looked good and had multiple tip ends and baskets. It was easy to adjust the lengths and ruler markings on the poles made it is easy to make the poles equal. However, they did not work. One of the poles no matter how secure I locked it, would not stay locked into place and each time I put any pressure down through the pole, it would slip and shorten. The other pole kept coming apart at one of the joints. So each time I lifted the pole, it would come apart. No matter what I did as soon as I lifted it, it would pull apart and the bottom part of the pole would be dangling by the string. Unfortunately, both poles were defective with different problems and I returned them.

Other reviewers missed what I missed at first
So, it's possible the other reviewers got a defective product...however, I suspect they missed the way to find the silver pop-out button that secures the pole. I couldn't find it, and the instruction pictures didn't help. After playing around with them for awhile, I figured out only the top part has to be pulled up far enough (after you connect all 3 segments), and then, there it is, the magical silver button! I will admit I did this after a full hike, so I too had the segments separating on the hike til I figured it out.So, it's on the manufacturer that they get negative reviews for the wrong "defect"...it should be on their poor instructions, not the poles. Once I got the pole right, they work great, fold great, and I definitely recommend.
