Ulu knives come in a variety of shapes and sizes. The traditional ulu is designed for scraping and working caribou and moose hides, as well as fish cleaning and associated camp and cooking chores. The traditional ulu appears simple to use but requires a surprising amount of expertise to use it well. The Hibben Legacy ULU overcomes much, if not all, the drawbacks of the original version by reimagining functionality and cutting ability. The weight compliments the design which in turn allows the user to hold the knife more securely for better control while cutting, slicing and skinning. I’m anxious to see how the knife holds up when processing deer or wild hogs. However, in a kitchen setting this ulu can turn pork butts into carnita pieces and a beef roast into chili con carne faster than any other kitchen utensil I have so I’m confident of its field abilities. Yes, it comes very sharp and accompanies a top quality leather sheath complimenting this unique knife. A very good buy for the price point.

Absolutely incredible!! My husband LOVED this gift!! He wanted something sharp to chop up fajita and meat on a chopping block and was amazed and at quality of these knives. You do not need to apply a lot of pressure and 1 cut will go through medium cooked steak. **Warning ⚠️ they are VERY SHARP** They should only be handled by adults and people who feel confident in their chopping skills!!

This is a really cool knife, and I had wanted to carry it on my belt. However, I thought the sheath was going to be horizontally mounted, but it's vertical, and so it gets in your way when you sit down. So I don't carry it. Instead, I use it to cut vegetables in the kitchen, and it works great for that. It's very sharp. If you decide to use it for this, be VERY careful. This knife is dangerous to use if you aren't used to it.. It has points that stick out, especially at the back, and you can easily stab yourself or cut yourself it you aren't paying close attention. It does work great for kitchen use, but it's so unlike anything else, that you must practice with it quite a bit in order for it to be a safe utensil. I actually bought mine for a weapon, but can't use it for that b/c of the sheath. Still, it's a nice, well-made, and affordable ulu. And looks killer!!

Best knife I have ever used to butcher. Fits great in the hand, total control of blade. The ulu ends allows cuts without having to reposition the blade. Razor sharp edge. My hunting party seen how easy and efficient it was and they are going to buy one. Great design Gil!!!!!!! I read a review before i bought that said the ends kept poking the guys hand. After using, i dont see how this is possible. The handle gives the user total control.

Picked this up to try it out for skinning. It is comfortable to hold has a nice sheath and came relatively sharp. All that said, with my level of ulu experience, it did not turn out well. I ended up stabbing myself a couple times with the points of this thing. For me, it seems like a lot of other Hibben knives I've seen... they look cool, are solidly made, but are not practical for regular use.

I purchased this for myself a couple of years ago. Saves a great deal of time especially when cutting fresh herbs. Just bought another as a gift. It is a great knife and I love the sheath because it is SHARP!

I was not disappointed after the knife was in my hand. It seems to be very well built with quality Stainless steel. Well, I have already cut myself twice and luckily the cuts were not serious. It will take a bit getting used to the knife to avoid those two sharp points, which I wish they are not there. It would seem a shame to grind them off as they do not serve a purpose my personal usage (i.e. kitchen). A nice looking and functional knife. Just be careful to give yourself a chance to get use to the new tool as it is sharp enough to cause serious damage without any more sharpening. Recommend it.

Purchased this knife as a gift for my wife, she uses it to cut meat (she has use of one hand) and cutting slippery raw chicken was a challenge before getting this knife. Since purchasing this blade she has never had an issue or hesitation in working with meat. The only thing I would say is sharpening a curved blade is a bit challenging however, I have only done so 2x in the last 2 years that we have owned it! Don’t let the price scare you, it’s worth every penny. We have Shun and Wustof knives and I would say this ulu knife is just as good a quality!
