Warabimochi Wagashi Mochi with Kinako
A different snack that we had just for fun. Not sure we would eat this all the time, but it was nice to serve with green tea. Didn't leave a lot of extra leftovers, nice to try. (Sorry, I still like peach cobbler better but this tastes good with green tea.)

Sweet and chewy
This warabimochi is easy to make and tastes good. It comes in a silver packet and a clear packet. Simply empty the silver packet into a bowl, add 1/4 cup of water and mix vigorously for 15-20 seconds. Finally, cut it into bite-sized pieces and sprinkle the kinako powder from the clear packet. It is sweet and chewy, albeit quite heavy on the sugar. The texture is slightly sticky and chewy. Overall, I like this. It is delicious. Contains soy, and sulfites. Product of Japan.

warabi mochi
I'd like to think I did something wrong, but it's nearly impossible to get the directions wrong. Mix the powder with 1/4 cup of water and stir continuously for 15 seconds... that's really about it for the mochi part. Sprinkle with kinako powder after. Pretty foolproof except it didn't turn out for me. The mochi has the consistency of slimy boogies that the kids even find unappetizing. I did taste it and it's a nice sweet flavor, but the consistency is unpalatable. Maybe it needs less water than what the directions indicate.

Great Taste, But Sticky Texture
I got a pack of these Japanese sweets because I was curious about trying something new. I opened it up and was hit with a nice, sweet smell. They look kind of cute too. I tried some right away, and the flavor of the soybean flour is really nice. Itโs sweet but not too sweet, which I liked. The mochi was chewy, which is what I expected, but I found it a bit stickier than I thought it would be. When I was eating it, it kind of stuck to my fingers, which was annoying. It might be a little messy if you're not careful. Itโs definitely a fun snack and something different to enjoy with tea or coffee, just be ready for a bit of a clean-up after. Pros: - Nice flavor, not overly sweet - Chewy texture, fun to eat - Good for sharing with friends Cons: - Sticky texture can be messy - Only comes in one pack, so it runs out fast.

So easy to prepare
Never made mochi before, but this was incredibly easy with this set - you just have to add water and mix, simple. However, getting the sticky blob cut into neat squares as shown is pretty difficult and as I shared it with my family, I wasn't too exact on cutting the shapes as it was a challenge. Otherwise, taste wise they are chewy and sweet.

Issues With Different Units of Measurement
This mochi was incredibly easy to make; the trick was that the texture was a bit off, and I suspect it comes down to the amount of water the recipe calls for. The package asks for 60 ml of water and indicates that you should add 1/4 cup of water. Unfortunately, while close, these two measurements do not line up exactly. For a larger recipe, the effect of the mismatch of units would not be noticeable, but for a serving size this small, the impact on the final texture was significant.
