Szechuan Fermented Beancurd Tofu Spicy 10oz

Make no mistake, this is an "umami bomb"! It's like a very strong soft cheese, it's very fermented and a little goes a long way, but I love it and use it all the time in soups and stews.

Nice tangy flavor. The brine is thick with 乳腐 residue that clings to every piece.

I grew up with this "bean cake" as I knew it in my Chinese youth, and though it has fairly good flavor, I've had better. The bean curd is not very firm, and because it is fermented and sits in liquid, a firmer tofu holds up better. It's too soft and just falls apart; the consistency is too liquidity for real quality. But again, it has relatively good taste, just no consistency.

When this item arrived the liquid was milky white instead of the semi translucent and it appeared the tofu inside had been completely polarized rather than cubes as advertised. The item went directly into the trash after reporting it to Amazon customer service. - I strongly recommend not buying this product from this seller, Although I have no experience of any other products represented by the seller I nonetheless will steer clear of them.

Exactly how it should taste like.... other people who says it’s far too salty DONT know about that stinky tofu life. I’m just saiyan.

Can't say this is spicy. I was hoping for that exhilirating szechuan tongue burn but all I got was a mouthful of salt. The tofu doesn't feel or taste like tofu, more like a texture similar to a chunk of really salty butter. I could never eat this as is but I did find it useful to add in soups in place of the salt.
