Can these pads be applied to an already installed stainless steel sink (will not be able to flip the sink) to replace the old pads?

As long as you have access under the counter to the bottom and sides of the sink, you will easily be able to install these. My new sink came with a some smaller pads randomly placed underneath. I simply stuck these larger pads right over those from the factory.

What material are the pads made from?

The pads look like a rubber type material with an adhesive backing.

Can pads be trimmed? My area is larger than 6 inches.

Yes. You can trim if needed, however, these separate into 9 separate 6x6 pads. I simply placed in varying locations under the sink to impact the greatest area. They are fantastic!

Sorry, I can not recommend these pads, they started cracking and falling off the sink within 2 months
