what is the average life span of these speakers?

7+ YEARS STRONG! I purchased these back in December of 2013 in college. Speakers have moved around over 10 times, but I kept the original box for moving purposes. Finally purchased a home and these still remain as my main TV speakers. I recommend this set of speakers for anyone who wants that movie theater and thrilling music experience in their own home!

How does one extend the cable of the control speaker with the 15 pin vga cable? a regular vga cable extension didn't work.

The problem with most all VGA Extension cables is that they tie pins 6,7,8 and 10 to the casing (GND). This is fine for a VGA Cable, but is not desired for an extension cable. It does not work in extending the right control speaker. Instead, go with the Amphenol Cable Extension that wires the pins straight through. Lengths are available in 5', 10', 15' and 25'. Just change the last two digits when looking for your desired length. CS-DSDHD15MF0-005 Length: 5' CS-DSDHD15MF0-010 Length: 10' CS-DSDHD15MF0-015 Length: 15' CS-DSDHD15MF0-025 Length: 25' Be sure to get a Male to Female connectors.

what are the speaker and sub dimensions

The sub woofer is 10" deep, 12" wide and 11" high. The speakers are 5" wide, 5 " deep and 8" high. Meas. are aprox. Hope that helps.
