A sticker has left a sticky residue on my new leather couch. Is this product safe to use on leather?

I would say yes, providing you immediately follow up with water to rinse the product off. For jobs like that, I prefer to use a product called Goo Gone, because it works well, is less caustic, and can be used on most any surface. Amazon has it here: https://www.amazon.com/Goo-Gone-Surface-Adhesive-Remover/dp/B00006IBNJ?th=1 . It's also available at Home Depot.

Does it work on carpet?

No it doesn't work on carpet. I tried removing a coffee stain on carpet. It didn't work.

Does this remove finger prints and other marks/dirt on latex paint (without taking off the paint)?

No it will remove the paint. But works great on everything else.

Will this ruin the finish on a pizza soapstone?

Joanne, I'd be concerned about ruining the finish unless there is a spot you can test it on like an underside. Goof Off is more powerful than 409 Cleanser. Have you been treating your soapstone with mineral oil? If Goof Off does dull the finish, perhaps a light coating of mineral oil would restore it. These are just my guesses as I have not tried Goof Off on soapstone.
