Short version: Cools our 10x14 bedroom effectively Fit awkwardly into our windows - extending pieces seemed less than effective from a sealing/insulating perspective Long version: My husband and I have been miserable all summer. It seems like we picked the one room in the house with the worst air flow to sleep in. Rather than call an HVAC, we got this window unit. * Installation: 3.5/5 - The installation was fairly painless but we had to drill holes in our window sills. The extensions made to cover the gaps between the unit and the window frame are not ideal. We could feel heat radiating from them if we put our hands near them. I’m not an expert but I imagine this is making our AC work harder by letting more heat in. We will get some insulating foam board to fill these gaps eventually. It’s not a huge deal, but it is a somewhat annoying extra cost. * Power/effectiveness: 5/5 - I chose the 5,000 BTU because I didn’t want to trip the breakers with a more powerful unit. It works well. We can sleep comfortably and sometimes we even wake up feeling a little chilly, which is nice. It’s worth noting that this wouldn’t be very effective at cooling a larger space. * Noise: 4.5/5 - It is a little noisy. If you are used to sleeping with a big box fan on high speed, like I am, it is comparable to that. I don’t mind the noise. To be fair I have selective hearing. Giving 5 stars overall because I am not sweaty anymore.

as expected and described, this unit cools off a single bedroom nicely. mine and my partner's bedroom is medium to large sized and this unit keeps it comfortably cool even during heat waves. i will note that this unit is very low TBU meaning it's only meant to cool off one room, not your entire living space. some other reviews here mention folks using this to cool off their whole home, and i'm happy that seems to work for them, but not only is that not what this product is advertised for, but i find it doesn't do that for us (we tried leaving the bedroom door open and directing the air through the house using a large fan). it's fine that our unit doesn't do that because we didn't wholly expect it to. if it does cool off the rest of the house at all, it's very minimally and not to a degree that will relieve you during a heat wave. as for our bedroom, it doesn't turn it into a refrigerator like some high TBU units will, but it does exactly what we need it to do all for a decent price.

It was delivered on time, works well, and does a great job cooling our living room. We use it with a circular fan and it cools very well. It gets cold fast on hi cool so we turn it down to low cool before switching to the fan mode. Love it.

Bought one of those in 2018 for around 240$, used it non-stop 24/7 from May to October for 5 years, bought another one in 2023 when I knew they lasted this long as a back-up for when it dies, the new one is still in the box, the old one is 8 years old and kicking, aside from the fact it's now 800$ it's great quality, it last a long time. But again, I bought it around 240$, Canadian, my second one in 2023 also was 230-240$, now it's over 700$ brand new, it's not normal, the quality is top notch I vouch for it, but the price today ain't right.
