Powerful 11.2-Channel Receiver with Excellent Build Quality
I finally got around to installing this receiver after having it sit unopened in the box for years, and I’m honestly amazed at how well it performs. I wish I had set it up sooner, but I was building my home theater system piece by piece. Right out of the box, the build quality is outstanding. This receiver is very heavy and solid, which immediately gives you confidence in the components inside. It also has a built-in cooling fan, which does a great job keeping everything running cool even when pushed hard. Setup can feel a little complicated at first, especially when HDMI control devices start trying to talk to each other, but the on-screen setup menu walks you through everything step by step, making the process much easier than expected. Performance-wise, this receiver is extremely powerful. I paired it with my Klipsch home theater system from Costco and two subwoofers, and the sound is absolutely incredible—clean, immersive, and room-filling. Movies, music, and gaming all sound fantastic, and the IMAX Enhanced and 3D audio features really shine. Overall, this is an excellent AV receiver with tons of power, premium build quality, and modern features like 8K support, gaming enhancements, and streaming. I highly recommend it to anyone building or upgrading a serious home theater system.

Excellent Home theater receiver
Plenty of power. Full of options and connectivity for all your A/V components. Add your VCR, Cassette deck, multi CD/DVD player. Your 4K player for movie time. This receiver can handle it. It delivers superb surround sound for every movie. The setup mic can accommodate up to eight listening positions in your home theater. I am enjoying my movies once again. Upgraded from a slightly older Pioneer A/V receiver. Used 10 awg wire for my fronts and center speakers and 12 awg for the rest. All-in-all, really awesome 11.2 set-up for a theater like sound at home. And I never have to say, "down in front". Highly recommend this AV receiver, for a mid-sized budget.

Works great for 3 zones
This upgrade from my older Denon catches up with current technology and has enough HDMI inputs to control all devices. Previously, my wife just wanted the movie sound to play in the 2-channel kitchen like it does in the 7.1 channel living room. That would work for any stereo signal, but 7.1 could not be down-graded to 2.0 and instead thought the kitchen was only surround-back if the source signal was multichannel Dolby, so you could hear the music but no dialogue. She didn't want to hear that explanation. This unit solves that and allows 7.1 to translate to stereo in both zones 2 and 3. Looking at the back of this unit, you would think you could use the final set of speaker outputs for a stereo zone 4, but there are actually only 3 amps, which can be programmed to handle a wide variety of speaker configurations. Personally I still need a second amp for zone 4 stereo, but this unit still controls it all. The zone two video HDMI out allows you to watch a movie with sound in zone 2 while simultaneously watching something else in zones 1 and 3 with 7.1 sound. The app control on iPhone is a little bit hard to comprehend just because it has so many control choices. We use Harmony app as the iPhone remote for all devices including this unit, Apple TV, X-box, and Blu-Ray (I highly recommend Harmony), but that won't let you separately control volume across different zones whereas the Denon app does. God help me when the teens move out and the wife wants the volume adjusted in zone 3. Overall this is a great unit, and having the second amp works just fine as compared with spending 4x as much for the only higher model Denon that might have avoided the need. Tip for control app: choose "source" for zones 2 and 3 to watch and listen to the same thing as zone 1. If zone 1 is on Apple TV and you put zone 2 on Apple TV you'll hear nothing on Zone 2. Set Zone 2 to source to hear the movie playing in zone 1.

Audio Feed Drops
This Denon is actually a beautiful and powerful audio-visual receiver. The big problem is that the audio drops out after about two minutes when connected to my cable service. I use Spectrum Cable and I have an LG OLED 60 inch TV. It appears that there is something amiss with the HDMI connection or perhaps the firmware. I tried all of the HDMI plugs to see if it was because of one faulty input but it happened with all of them. There was no audio loss with my Apple TV box, Blu-Ray, or TIVO. Despite several efforts that included re-setting, there continued to be audio loss. I noted before purchase that another reviewer indicated a similar problem. I thought that result might be an outlier. I thought incorrectly. Had to return the item, which process was seamless. Much appreciation to Amazon and the seller. Really wanted the unit to work.

THE PERFECT MATE OF A 8K TV
The setup of this is tech is definitely not for the faint of heart. Sure, you have to attach your speakers. That's the easiest part and the set-up assistant is super helpful. The REAL fun begins when trying to connect it to your TV and get it to output 8K. I found no tutorials online, or on Youtube... NONE. (It would have been nice if the manufacturer had included a large, clear picture of the back panel so you could figure out when to plug things in) That said, once you do get it working you are in for a real visual/audio treat. They aren't kidding when they say you get drawn into the action. Action movies, spooky movies, Sci-Fi...ALL come to life. Yul Brenner, Steve McQueen, James Bond, Edward G, Cagney, Music videos...well you see where I'm going with this.. THIS is a game changer (and well worth the money and effort.)

TV Picture Issues
Updated 3/19/2022 After many dead ends reaching out to Denon, LG, and Apple help desks; I resolved the problem with the help from a user on the AVS Forum web blog. On the Apple TV and Panasonic BD components there are settings comparable to "Dynamic Frame Rate" and "Dynamic Range". These settings need to be turned off, otherwise they can cause the TV to flicker or loose picture. Oddly, the description on the Apple TV device gives the impression that you want these on - not so if you are using a modern 4K smart TV. I'm still a bit miffed that, as common as this problem seems to be, not Apple nor Denon nor LG immediately made the suggestion. As I said in my original review, I am REALLY a Denon fan. And this is a great AVR. I'm only disappointed that their customer support in not better manned. ******************************* I’ve been a Denon fan and customer for some time. In addition to the AVR-X6700H, which I’ve owned for over a year now, I've also owned the AVR 4310CI and AVR 3313. That said, I can’t in good conscience recommend this receiver or any of the current generation of Denon AVR until the HDMI issue is resolved. Several months ago I noticed an issue with the HDMI operation. When there is a momentary break in the input signal, the output signal (i.e. Monitor 1/2) cuts out for approximately 7 seconds. This occurs as when the screen momentarily goes dark while starting or stopping a streaming program (Netflix, Prime, HBO, etc.). It also happens when the Blu-Ray player transitions from a splash screen to a movie or back. The issue is particularly annoying because after four seconds my monitor (2019 LG 4K OLED C1 TV) displays an error message, "No Signal Present", prominently on the screen. In addition the AVR appears to degrade the video signal quality. Recently, when I started an HBO movie on an Apple TV-4K, the sound track played for several minutes with no picture. When I restarted the program, my monitor displayed the error message “Unable to play this video: HDCP ERROR”. Rebooting the receiver corrected the problem. I’ve noticed that on the transition from program material back to home screen on a component, the component splash screen (eg. Apple TV 4K, Panasonic Blu-Ray) appears for a blink before the signal cuts out again for seven seconds. When I bypass the AVR by inserting an HDMI coupler between the Device-in cable and the Monitor-out cable, these transitions are instantaneous - and the picture is distinctly richer - with no HDMI glitches. Denon claims that the HDMI "handshake" within the Receiver is normal. Maybe. However, I've been around computers long enough to know that sloppy coding and/or firmware bugs are enough to weigh down even the best electronics. After speaking with a service rep at Denon, I was supposed to receive a call back from a senior engineer. I’m still waiting for that call. The open ticket number with Denon for this issue is: 220204-0000664. I’ll update this review as appropriate.

Phenomenal Audio and Video Processing
The Denon AVR-X6700H has remarkable audio and video processing capabilities. I wish there were a way to allow for a demo, but a home video recording can never do it justice. I am using the Denon with seven large Klipsch speakers that sound even crisper, plus the 15" Klipsch 800w powered subwoofer. The Audessy microphone and software make setup seamless and easy. I did not mind the time to set up because the software does take a bit of time to fine-tune your speakers. The Denon app, on the other hand, is sluggish and is very near pointless as I am using the Logitech Harmony Hub to control the unit through the Harmony app. All of my AVR components are in another room, so I had the Harmony Hub for years. When comparing the Denon app to the Harmony App, the Denon app has many more functions to control; however, the app is frustratingly slow. I did not purchase this for the Bluetooth app, so no points off. I love the decrease in lag when switching between different video resolutions. My old receiver could take up to a minute to refresh the input; the Denon is quite snappy. The Denon AVR-X6700H is an excellent receiver hands-down that offers excellent upgradability. The next purchase will be for external amps to use the preamps on the back of the unit, although noise is hardly noticeable as-is. I do want to increase the wattage per channel because the recommended wattage is higher for my speakers, and I love crystal clear audio. I highly recommend this receiver. I hope you appreciate it as much as I do. Enjoy!

An Excellent Future-Proof A/V receiver
This is an excellent premium A/V Receiver. I have used Yamaha receivers for ages and 2 years ago I got my first Denon receiver AVR-X4500. Denon receivers are very easy to set up using their easy to use their room correction software. I wanted to upgrade to 11.2 Vs 9.2 to add extra 2 Dolby Atmos Height speakers to the existing 4. Amazon has a great price that is $1000 less than the retail price for the 6700 (Thank you Amazon). The receiver arrived in an excellent condition with the packaging intact. It has a heft to it and heavier that the 4500. Premium built and it is "Made in Japan" After running Audessey and the initial set up the sound is simply AMAZING! Excellent sound stage with extremely detailed sounds from all the channels. Due to the processing power, the 6700 gets hot as its predecessor, but I have an AC Infinity cooling fan on the top of the receiver to keep it cool. I highly recommend AC Infinity coolers to any Home Theater enthusiast to protect your expensive receiver. If you are in the market for a new A/V receiver or looking to upgrade for 8K future proof receiver then do not think twice and get this beast. You will not regret it! Thank you Amazon for such an amazing deal.

Bueno, bonito tal vez no barato
