Sudden Stops -- Buyer Beware.
Do not buy this product. Pros: - Relatively thick blow-molded plastic. - Easy to install. Cons: - Safety Risk!! - Product causes sudden stops. My daughter got hurt within 50 feet of starting using the product. If the rider presses down on the footrest, the footrest interacts with the pedals and locks the front wheel. In our case, the front wheel locked-up and our daughter smacked her head on the handle bars.

Don't understand the negative reviews
This thing works exactly as described, and we have had NO PROBLEMS WHATSOEVER. My husband installed it in 5 minutes and we were good to go. Use it daily and it works great - no jamming the wheel or anything of the sorts. Kettler stuff is awesome.

Doesn't prevent kids jamming their feet in the wheel
This product is super easy to install and works as designed, I believe. However, we got it because our 1 year old likes to put his feet on the front wheel of the Kettler and we thought this would put an end to it. But this footrest does not block access to the front wheel, so although it gives him an alternative, it doesn't "foot-proof" the tricycle.

Easy install but watch out for sudden stops
I was able to install this footrest on my Kettler Happy Air Navigator in literally less than a minute. Other reviews made me concerned about a difficult installation but I did not experience any problems. I did not have to reconfigure the straps in any way. The instructions aren't detailed so there might be some confusion about how to install the straps. First, make sure the strap is not going through the little strap hoop. Position the footrest so the pedals fit in the grooves. Then feed the strap through the hoop and pull it back over itself so that the velcro sticks. Once completed, the yellow pedal should be visible through the little hoop. The footrest has prevented my child from dragging her feet and ruining her shoes. She is very comfortable and looks like she is lounging in a recliner. I find the footrest to be a nice addition to the trike until my child starts to pedal on her own. UPDATE March 2013: I have found this footrest to have an annoying habit of locking the wheels if my child pushes on the footrest in a certain way. It causes the entire trike to come to a sudden stop. This seems to happen on a regular basis and is very jarring both to the child rider and adult pusher. I've deducted a couple stars because of this issue.

Dangerous!
The Kettler footrest, even when installed properly, is very dangerous! My 16-month-old son simply pressed his foot down on the footrest while I was pushing him, and it immediately made the trike come to an abrupt stop, throwing his face into the handlebars. He now has his first black eye. We hadn't even made it out of the driveway when this happened, and I certainly wasn't pushing him very fast. My husband and I worked on the footrest for hours, trying to make it work so that he couldn't press down and engage the brake. It was impossible. Now I own a $220 trike that my son is terrified of because he was injured on it during the first 2 minutes he was riding it. Do not buy this! The trike is very nice, but the footrest is horrible. Also, since my son can't reach or use the pedals yet, the entire trike is pretty useless to us without the footrest. It feels like a waste of money.

Good in Theory
We purchased the Kettler Lil-Toote Kettrest to use with our daughter's Radio Flyer tricycle after reading that it would be compatible....however when we received it,we damaged it just trying to install it. Good idea to make a footrest for little ones, but Radio Flyer needs to make one for their own tricycles.

Works with Radio Flyer Trike
This product is not meant for a radio flyer trike. But it does work! You install it the same as you would if it was going on the trike it was meant for. It doesn’t fit perfectly but it does work! Make sure to disable the pedals so they do not spin when the tires do. All the reviews saying it caused sudden stops obviously didn’t disable the pedals. This is for a child that cannot reach the pedals yet. The foot support that came with our trike was too small and wouldn’t allow my son to sit comfortably. We also didn’t like his sitting position with his legs just dangling. This fixes our problem. My husband is very handy and was able to modify this using paracord to make the turning radius better.

Dangerous!
Very disappointed & frustrated with this dangerous item. We like quality of our Kettler Tricycle. However this accessory has major issues & injured her. Our little girl is too young to reach the peddles & we realized we needed this footrest accessory. After installing based on quite simple instructions & obvious peddle/frame fitment it fit great. The problem is when our daughter stretches her legs & puts minor pressure on the footrest, it causes the peddles to override free-spin & the tricycle comes to a harsh stop. As we were pushing her with the push bar & she put her feet on foot rest her head smacked into the handlesbars. We took off the footrest and installed again, tightening the velcro straps as much as humanly possible. Again, same issue. A bloody face by poor design is not acceptable.
