best bit holder of its kind I have used
I find the low star reviews that's getting sorted to the top rather unfair. This is not a replacement for drilling pilot holes, you need self tapping screws and you really should drill pilot holes in hard wood. It also won't compensate for terrible screw drive types that tend to cam out and strip like the traditional slot and cross drives, get Pozidriv or Torx or Robertson or even the new Phillips Velocity drives, anything but the old Phillips really. Finally, overdriving can be compensated with settings on your impact driver and trigger control and the bit holder prevents you for sinking the screw into wood too much anyways. I wouldn't use this for fine woodworking where I need to get it exactly flush every single time. What it does do is hold on to both your bit and the screw very securely so you can drive one-handed in either direction, so you don't have to spent extra on premium screws that have such a feature, like the Velocity screws. I had no problem removing counter sunk screws with it. I couldn't shake the screw off running my driver at full speed, so the magnet is plenty strong. It is by far the best bit holder I've tried. The price is also cheap enough that I just bought a few for the most common bits I need so I don't have to constantly swapping bits, which does get annoying as it hold onto the bits very tightly. But that is a good thing as bit tend to get pulled off typical magnetic holder on the more securely fit drive types.

Amazing bad reviews don't know what this is actually used for
Works great bit holder really holds the bits you won't get bit pulled out by screw heads like some magnetic bit holders. The magnetic sleeve pulls off early to either change bit or get into a tight spot where the magnetic sleeve just won't fit. I bought this because I have to hold cabinet doors with one hand and impact screw in with the other and was having a hard time keeping the screw on the bit would fall off the second you bummped the drill. This thing tho omg does it really hold the screws you can shake the drill all over and the screw will not fall off the bit makes my job 100 times easier. Ignore the bad review most are just for the bit holder and I feel like half of them don't even know what this is actually for or use the magnetic sleeve and they just wanted a bit holder. The bits are a little had to pull out but not like the one bad review stated I don't think he knew you can pull off the whole plastic sleeve. The magnetic sleeve will only work with 1 inch bits but it will hold any length of bit if need be you just won't be using the magnetic sleeve with any bits longer than 1 inch. Been using it with milwaukee 1" povi drive bits and dewalt 1" phillips bit both fit and work great with this.

A time saver, with some limitations
I purchased this bit holder for use in building a fishing dock on a small pond, and this tool worked well for me. Using this tool with a T25 bit in a Bosch 12-volt driver, I installed almost 400 screws (9 X 2-1/2 inch) that attach pine deck boards to the dock framework. The main advantage provided by this bit holder is the magnetic collar that holds each screw in position. To use the holder, it is first inserted into the hex collet (or chuck) on the driver tool. The blue sleeve is then removed from the bit holder, to allow insertion of the appropriate driver bit. It does take a little force to pull off the blue sleeve, but that just tells me that it's not at risk of falling off while in use. This bit holder works with the short style (1" long) bits, as longer bits would position the screw head too far away from the magnetic collar. There is a small retaining ring inside this bit holder that provides a very strong grip on the bit that is inserted. In fact, it took quite a bit of force for me to remove the 1" long bit when I needed to briefly change sizes. This holder does a good job of keeping the screw from falling off, but it is best suited for driving screws into pre-drilled pilot holes. I did begin by using it to drive screws without pilot holes, but it does not hold the screw securely enough to do that easily. I found it better to take a few minutes to drill "starter" pilot holes, about 1/2" deep. Also, it's is easy to accidentally overdrive screws in soft wood, as the magnetic collar covers the screw head as it seats into the wood. Of course that's not as critical on a fishing dock as it can be on some applications. Several times I found myself popping off the blue sleeve so that I could see the screw head and fine-tune the driven depth. A drill driver with an adjustable clutch might do a better job of controlling driven depth, as long as the hardness of the target material is fairly consistent. This bit holder may not be right for every application, but I find it to be a time saver and a great value at this price.

Best bit holder on earth!
I did some floor jobs over some months with some DeWalt sleeve bit holders. I like that style of holder because they align the screw no matter how I hold the drill/impact driver. I also like that I don't have to hold the screw. But that's enough history. I used them for these jobs and they work fine on all parts till you get to the holoflex (or cement board). Then the grit from that stuff gets in the sleeve and grinds it away. I tried silicon spray, oil, even axle grease to make it quit grinding, but once in, it'll never come out. So, now I needed a new bit holder. I looked around and found this one and the B-35106 which is basically the same without a magnetic sleeve. I bought both because the B-35106 says it holds bits, while this one holds screws. Long story shorter, I love it. It has none of the problems the DeWalt ones had and holds screws like vise grips. Unlike the descriptions say, this one holds screws AND bits, better than B-35106. The blue or green ( I still haven't decided what) magnetic sleeve comes all the way off, so you can use it on other bit holders or even longer (3" and up) bits to hold screws. Bottom line, Well worth the money and I a very good product.

Why didn't I discover this years ago???
A couple of weeks ago I was invited to put together a playset for my grandson. I looked at it online and it looked big (two story fort, monkey bars, slide, rock climbing wall, ladder, swing set and crows nest). I'm guessing there were about 1,000 screws (not counting bolts and other hardward). I decided to buy the Makita magnetic bit holder and am I ever glad that I did. It cost less than $5 but it saved me so much time and effort. When I was doing things like screwing down the floor boards I didn't need the magnetic bit holder, but for those times when I needed to hold a piece of wood in place while putting in a screw this thing was AMAZING. It has a very strong magnet that holds the screw straight so the screw goes in perfectly with one hand. It was simple to remove the magnetic piece (without removing the entire tool from the drill) when I didn't need it and then I could slip it back on when I needed a third hand. Great little tool for an amazingly low price.

A Practical and Fun Tool with Impressive Features.
Let me tell you, I was skeptical when I first saw the Makita B-35097 Impact Gold Ultra-Magnetic Torsion Insert Bit Holder. I mean, a bit holder? How exciting could that be? But boy, was I wrong. First of all, the magnet on this thing is no joke. It's so strong that I accidentally stuck it to my refrigerator and it took me a good five minutes to pry it off. But once I put it to use on my drill, I realized that the magnet is actually incredibly useful. It holds onto the screws so tightly that I didn't have to worry about dropping them or losing them in my carpet. And trust me, I've lost my fair share of screws in that shaggy mess. The torsion technology is also pretty impressive. It allows the bit to flex and absorb impact, which means less wear and tear on both the bit and the screw. And let me tell you, I've put this thing through the wringer. I've used it on everything from delicate woodwork to heavy-duty metal fabrication, and it hasn't let me down yet. But let's get to the real selling point of this bit holder: the "ultra-magnetic" feature. I don't know what kind of magnet they're using, but it's like a superpower. I was working on a project outside and accidentally dropped a screw. I heard it hit the pavement and figured it was a goner. But then I remembered I had the Makita bit holder on my drill, so I waved it over the ground and voila! The magnet picked up the screw like a charm. It was like a magic trick. Now, I have to admit that the price of this bit holder is a bit steep. But in my opinion, it's worth it. I mean, how often do you find a tool that's both practical and fun? I'd give this thing 3 out of 5 stars - it's not perfect, but it's pretty darn close. Here's a comparison between the Makita B-35097 Impact Gold Ultra-Magnetic Torsion Insert Bit Holder and the DEWALT DW2054 Magnetic Drive Guide: 1. Makita B-35097 Impact Gold Ultra-Magnetic Torsion Insert Bit Holder: * Made from high-quality steel for durability * Ultra-magnetic technology provides superior bit retention * Torsion technology allows for better bit flexibility and reduces breakage * Quick-change design for easy bit installation and removal * Fits most impact drivers and drill drivers DEWALT DW2054 Magnetic Drive Guide: * Made from high-quality materials for durability * Magnetized for superior bit retention * Self-retracting sleeve helps guide screws for accuracy * Quick-change design for easy bit installation and removal * Fits most impact drivers and drill drivers 2. Both the Makita B-35097 and the DEWALT DW2054 are high-quality bit holders that are designed to work with most impact drivers and drill drivers. They both feature a quick-change design for easy bit installation and removal, and they are made from durable materials to ensure long-lasting performance. 3. One key difference between the two is the magnet technology used. The Makita B-35097 uses ultra-magnetic technology to provide superior bit retention, while the DEWALT DW2054 uses a magnetized design. Additionally, the Makita B-35097 features torsion technology, which allows for better bit flexibility and reduces breakage. 4. Overall, both of these bit holders are excellent options and will provide reliable performance. The choice between the two may come down to personal preference and the specific needs of the user.

My favorite bit holder
This bit holder is great. If you have a job where you have to set a lot of nails this will help immensely. This bit holder is a regular bit holder with a plastic sleeve that goes over the regular bit holder part. The plastic sleeve has a very strong magnet on the end that once a screw is mounted on the bit and the plastic sleeve is slid up into place, the magnet makes contact with the head of the screw and firmly holds it in place on the bit. The contact with magnet hold the screw in place so firmly that it takes a decent pull to remove the screw. This is super helpful for lining up a screw one handed. This is also helpful for removing screws. With this bit holder the magnet usually won't make contact with the head of the screw that is being removed, but since the magnet is so strong, it will magnetize ferrous bits enough to hold the fastener that was just removed on the bit after it is pulled out from whatever it was removed from.

Performs as advertized
This thing works like a million bucks for what I'm doing. I use it to prevent me from dropping service panel screws as I remove them, so that I can hold the cover in place with my free hand. The magnet is plenty strong for that purpose. It has to be used with a short bit. It doesn't seem to really magnetize the bit, rather the blue collar itself sticks to the screw head, so it won't work with the longer size bits. I tested it on epoxy-coated deck screws just out of curiosity, it works on those too. That's going to be a time saver when doing carpentry type work. Definitely holds screws better than the regular magnetic bit holders. It's true that it is difficult to remove the driver bits when they wear out, I've got four of these loaded with different driver bits so I don't have to change them out very often, at least until they wear out.

Incredible tool aid!
The most important thing is that it is designed to work with any type of drill chuck, both the old stlye and new clip on ones or SDS, the magnet holds a screw even if you wave the drill about and that alone is one of the reason I got this and yes it works all the times. if you work in tight spaces or have to drill upside down on a ceiling this tool is invaluble.
