5 stars bc I made some upgrades to it.
Package arrived on my neighbor's doorstep. It was delivered at 7 in the morning so I guess the delivery person was still half asleep. No damage to package though and it was delivered in the time frame promised... At least they took a picture of the door they left it at. Jeezus. As for the product itself, i didn't waste any time playing the PAL version of the games that came loaded in the console's system. No way i wanted to put myself through that pain. Also the selection of games is severely lacking imo. The console is so smol and baby but feels pretty sturdy. Still, treat it with care like you would your other consoles. I was disappointed with the controllers (x2) that came w it because no analog sticks lmao but they feel of good quality and are definitely usable. This is not the version where you can open the disc tray to put in game discs. Don't do it. Also, you need a usb power block/adapter. I used the one for my cell phone lmao and the system turned on just fine. This device only has 2 usb ports which is where the controllers plug into. It comes with an hdmi cable. You can easily watch reviews on youtube about this product as a stand alone and make your judgment. I had no intentions of using it as it was right out of the box after i saw in depth YouTube reviews and what people were actually using it for lol. UwU Upgrades: I used Eris on a usb stick, utilized an otg usb cable for more usb ports, and 8bitdo for wireless capability for my ps4 controller to use with this console. These modifications took this device to the moon and back for me. I absolutely love what I was able to turn this little guy into and all thanks to people out there who make these adjustments possible. I followed tutorials on how. Because of how smol this thing is, i can easily take it with me to different parts of the house. I was able to play some games on it with my brother this past weekend that we used to play as kids on the original ps1. I am very happy and feel like this console is a great little pet project. I had no prior exp w this stuff but am so glad i was able to take this baby to the next level and give it the justice that Sony freaking couldn't.

Great value now that modding has come to the system
This system comes with 20 pre loaded PS1 games that seem to be chosen randomly, you get a few games of every genre, jrpg, racing, fighting, shooters, kids games, ect. The selection is wide and will probably put you out of your comfort zone, I’ve already discovered a few fun games I’ve never played back in the day. When the system was new, the “only 20 games” complaint was very valid, but you can now buy a modded usb stick with 100+ preloaded ps1 games for around 20$, far cheaper than collecting all the disks. If you’re good with computers you can also download whatever games YOU like and out them on a usb drive and they’ll run on your ps classic with the help of a YouTube tutorial. Adding your favorite games or getting a modded game stick is essential and something you should look into if you finish all the preloaded classic games you enjoyed. Came with two controllers that feel high quality and will take you back by simply holding. PS classic was packaged very well, adding to the “quality feel” of this official Sony emulator. You can get knockoff mini systems but they won’t look or feel as nice as this official one. I have never before complimented a manufacturer on the way they package their items, may not mean a lot to most manufacturers but Sony is a Japanese company and like toyota they want to express quality everywhere in the product. The ps classic boxes unfold like origami and neatly fold back together if you want to use the box to store your classic/travel with it. When I was opening my PS classic I couldn’t help but think how much money Sony would save in the long run just taping up all these boxes, but rather than deliver lower quality packaging they have a machine or person take the extra time to fold these boxes neatly so they come apart and go back together very nicely. It’s the little things that remind you you have an official item. Good job Sony, I can definitely understand why some people may be dissatisfied with the base 20 games, but it’s a non issue In the current year when you can buy modded sticks here on Amazon for more ps classic games.

No non li legge. 2) Ci sono 20 giochi. Basta.

Initially, I was pretty excited when I found out about Sony’s plans to issue a ‘mini’ version of the first Playstation. Never before had I possessed the console myself, and my past experiences with the PSX games amounted to playing some of the titles at my friend’s house as a teenager as well as dabbling in different PSX emulators on my laptop in order to experience some of the titles that have changed/influenced the gaming industry. While the latter brought me closer to the experience, there was always this sense of never having the real ‘plug-n-play’ console feeling, displayed on a TV screen with a joystick in hands, and without having to mess around with different plug-ins, etc. Upon initial release I was taken aback by all the negative reviews pertaining to the choice of the games and the emulation software, therefore I decided to think it over before buying the console myself. It took me over a year to give into temptation (and a fairly reduced price, I must admit) and now the question whether PS Classic Mini – despite all the criticism – delivers poses itself. And the very subjective answer is: YES, but… … you have to be honest with yourself why you are buying this console. The console offers the experience of the original Playstation – no more, no less. I find the criticism pertaining to the emulation quality unwarranted, because – as much as this might frustrate players who with years got used to more intuitive control schemes and better graphics – this is how those games looked and played at the time! For me, the alleged ‘slowness’ of some games, due to their apparent PAL emulation, does not show at all nor does it diminish the playing experience. And some game developers used these ‘limitations’ of the system to the strength, atmosphere and innovativeness of their games – the most obvious examples from the list of offered games being Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy 7 and Resident Evil, which, after having them played on PS Classic Mini, seem to have incredibly stood the test of time and are a testament to the importance of the first PS console’s game library. The choice of 20 preinstalled games is a point of contestation for many customers and the one where previously accentuated personal honesty comes into play the most. Not going into the issue of acquired licenses, Sony provides a broader overview of different video game genres than its predecessors, Nintendo SNES and NES, as some of these genres were only really established on Playstation itself (e.g. Metal Gear Solid as the predecessor of the stealth games genre; Resident Evil as the predecessor of survival horror, GTA as the predecessor of modern sandbox/open world games). This means that based on your personal criteria you will either like only a limited number of games, or you might find you have the taste for a broader range of genres. For example, having played FF7 and Tekken3 for the first time (after all these years Tekken 3 plays as fluidly as when it first came out), my girlfriend discovered her affinity for JRPG and fighting games. We have also been enjoying the first Rayman (it is surprising how many of its original elements still remain incorporated into the sequels), Oddworld, Persona, Wild Arms, Rainbow Six and Syphon Filter, without caring to much for driving games and a definitive odd-ball on the list – Intelligent Cube. In sum, if you are open, there is plenty of fun here for every taste, and regardless of personal preferences, every video game lover should experience MGS and FF7. With the depth of their narratives, adorable idiosyncrasies, atmosphere, gameplay and players’ emotional involvement, these two showed as perhaps never before the potential of video games as works of art and paved the way for future development of many - nowadays beloved – video games series. In my humble opinion, definitely worth the 40€ price to be able to play them at whim and the way they were meant to be played. Annex: The hardware is compact, light and can easily be transported, which is a plus. The design is also great, and while one might miss analog sticks, it does not take long to get used to the original control scheme. Arguably, having dual shock motors inside would noticeably increase the price of the console. PS Classic Mini for 40€, a definitive recommendation.

Out of the box this product is poor. Luckily Sony left the keys on the doorstep to allow hackers to give this product a true purpose. For A$39 and with a bit of tinkering thanks to the internet you are effectively getting the equivalent of a retropie in a nice Sony mini playstation case that can not only run Playstation games but is a very effective emulator of many earlier platforms and arcade titles thanks to Retroarch. Great value for that price.... feel sorry for anybody who paid full retail price on its release or who has not investigated the modding scene on this device.
