Using this with "startech usb 3.0 to 2.5 adapter" the m2 keeps (disco/reco)nnecting, using that same cable with mechanical drive works, any suggests?

That is a known issue with some of the m2 drives causing them to connect/disconnect. I have the same issue and opted to purchase a regular SSD and have had no issues.

Has anyone measured this to confirm 7mm? I purchased some other brand that said it was 7mm, but it was really 7.6mm and would not fit the slot.

I've not had any issues and I think I've used it in a 7mm laptop. It looks the same height as a 7mm drive side-by-side.
