30 YR EXPERIENCED ICU NURSE APPROVED!
As a thirty year Cardio Thoracic ICU nurse, I have a lot of experience with hospital grade pulse oximetry monitoring devices. With the crazy COVID cases in which the person has vague viral symptoms and is noted to have profound silent hypoxia, I decided to purchase a pulse ox for my familyโs personal use. I found the device easy to use and very accurate when compared with hospital devices. It comes with a lanyard as well as padded case, and includes batteries. As others have mentioned, insert batteries carefully. They have two springs side by side which I think is confusing for insertion/placement . A special feature I really liked is the display of a pleth waveform on one of the views. This waveform helps visualize the intensity of each heartbeat. You can actually see how forcefully or weakly the heart contracts on each beat. This waveform also helps you to discern how accurate your readings are. If the waveform has a repetitive row of hills traveling across, then you are giving good info to the machine and the readings are more accurate. If the waveform is erratic and you have no sat reading or low sats then there may be too much interference from movements or not enough blood flow for device to work. Place device on thumb, index, or middle fingers that are not too cold and have person hold extremity very still while obtaining reading for more accurate results. I highly recommend this device for personal use for its ease of use, accuracy, value, and convenience.

Works surprisingly well
I'm not an expert... but this works a lot better than I expected. The real-time graph of blood flow is a surprisingly useful feature, both for making sure it's attached correctly and for generally seeing what's going on. If I manually measure pulse at my neck, it exactly matches what the display shows me onscreen at my fingertip, with only like a tenth of a second of delay. It's not particularly convenient to use while exercising, but it's also not particularly difficult either... and it works way better than the wristwatch-style heart monitor I tried before I got this. Haven't yet checked the oxygen readings against what the meter at my doctor's office says, but will do so at my next appointment. The pulse readings, however... are detailed, accurate, and quick. The main downsides I've noticed are that the graph mode can't be rotated, and it's difficult (but not impossible) to get a reading from toes.

Generation 2 monitor
In the past, I've ordered oximetry/pulse monitors. This Santamedical works fine, seems to be accurate enough for me. I'd order it again.

Great product and price
So far it seems accurate. I needed a replacement since my old one died on me. I have breathing problems and the dr. wanted me to keep track. It comes with a case so it's easy to keep it in my purse when I go out.

Excellent Value
The unit came in a neatly packaged box complete with a lanyard, a case, 2-AAA batteries, and the instructions. While the batteries weren't a common brand, it was a bonus to have them included at all. My spouse, a retired nurses aide, tested the pulse-ox meter several times and declared it excellent. The display is bright and clear and there are 6 display modes available. It's easy to switch between them to change the orientation, direction, and style of the display which makes it easy for either the caregiver or patient to read the results. The heavy denier nylon case has a velcro closure and both a D-ring and belt loop so it can be easily attached to your belt or travel bag. The case has just enough room for the unit and a small microfiber cloth or alcohol cleaning pad. The pulse oximiter unit is well protected by the case whether you hang it around your neck or throw it in a travel bag. The lanyard has a clip so that you can detach the unit for use while leaving the lanyard around your neck. Pressing the power button turns the unit on and repeated pressing cycles through the display options. The unit shuts off by itself after 8 seconds so no worries about running the batteries down if you forget to turn it off. Altogether, this is a great pulse oximeter with nice accessories making it an excellent value.

Seems reasonably accurate.
It works well and seems to be reasonably accurate. While just relaxing in my chair for an extended period of time the reading was between 91 and 92. Then when I intentionally started breathing hard the reading started rising after several seconds and went all the way up to 98. Then I slowed down my breathing again and after a minute or so it was back to 92.

GREAT LITTLE MEDICAL DEVICE
I bought one of these when my husband was diagnosed with atrial fibrillation to keep track of his heart rate at home. It is easy to us, just have to stick your finger into the device and push the button to turn it on, and it lights up and shows your heart rate, your oxygen saturation, and has some bars that go up and down to show the intensity with which the heart is beating. If you push the button again, it will switch and you can see the readings by looking at it while it is on your finger, or the other way will let someone else read it while looking at it from the other side. I worried about the accuracy but took it to our doctor's office and compared it with the one they use in their office and it was right on the mark. As a plus I tested my pulse with it too now and then and caught that I was having episodes of tachycardia (fast heart rate) and was able to get it treated and get on medication to bring it down. It comes with a lanyard to hang around your neck, and a nice little carrying case that can be attached to your belt loop or a purse. Great little device for little cost.
