GREAT TOOL! Wish I had bought one YEARS AGO!
I recently had some large hemlocks taken down that when bucked, were 32"+ in diameter and weighing over 300 pounds each. It about killed me using a peavey to get them up on end and rolling them up onto my driveway to get them into my tractor loader. After doing 2 of them, I wised up and began researching a better way to do it. After many Youtube videos I realized I needed this type of logging tool. This brand had some of the highest ratings on Amazon, but not one Youtube video showed it in action. I decided to get this one anyway due to the still photos and reviews on Amazon. I am very happy I chose this one. It is VERY heavy duty and well made - and it works GREAT! I purchased a large D-Ring and connected it to one of my tow straps and tied it onto my loader. The tongs clamp into the wood effortlessly by simply positioning the pointed ends onto the logs - either onto bark rounds, or the cut ends. This model opens very wide and is rated for up to 32", but I have clamped onto 34" rounds with ease. As soon as the tongs are lifted up, they bite into the log even more. I have not had one slip on me. They are also very easy to unhook once the the logs are set down on the ground and the stress let off of the tongs. Simply grab one of the tongs and swing it to the side, and the other one follows it. Easy Peezy, Lemon Squeezy! There are only two things I wish were different: 1) I wish it was made in the USA and not China, and 2) I wish I had bought one years ago! Save your back and body and buy one! You won't regret it.

Heavy built well
This is strong and heavy not light and cheap. Works well. I was dragging 10k+ lb logs with it and it had no issues at all.

Worked great
I am glad I purchased the 32 inch tongs. Any shorter and I believe I would have had a problem. I had trees cut down on my property and the cuttings left for me to dispose of. I used these attached to a pad eye on the top of my sub-compact tractor loader bucket to drag and load them onto my trailer to be moved to a different location. With care and a little finesse these worked out perfectly. I did have to sharpen the tips but I actually expected that. I actually tied a rope on the side of a tong so that I could ease off pressure on the tong and pull the rope to loosen the tong and swing them off of the logs. Any shorter tongs and I wouldn't have had the opening range to get them off. These worked out great for me.

Exactly what I needed and simple to use.
These skidding tongs work exactly as they should. They’re heavy, well made, bite well and will last a very long time if they aren’t abused or used in ways they weren’t intended (lifting for example - they’re not shaped for lifting and would be dangerous if used that way). The complaints I’ve read must be from people who don’t know how to properly use them or want them to do things they can’t. In brief, find the approximate centerline of the log, make sure the tongs are far enough onto the log to give the points enough material to bite (6” at a minimum), jab them in one at a time (tap them with a hammer or a club if needed to get them in a bit) and keep tension on the tongs to keep them in place until you start pulling. Once they’re under load they’ll stay in the log and only bite deeper as resistance goes up. The only time I’ve had them come loose was when a log started sliding down a slight slope faster than I was pulling and lost all tension. Setting the tongs in place can be tough to do by yourself the first couple times you use them, but you get the hang of it very quickly. The toughest part is the weight - these are very heavy so work smarter rather than harder. Or get a helper. Either way works.

These Tongs Will Grab Logs and Maybe Your Heart Too
Well, I gotta tell ya, I bought these 17-inch Skidding Tongs because I was tired of trying to wrestle with logs like some kind of wild animal on a bad day. I’ve got wood to move, and I need tools that can keep up with my redneck ingenuity—enter these log grabbers. First off, these tongs are built stronger than a double shot of whiskey and a bad decision. I attached them to my chain, and when I grabbed that first log, it was like the tongs knew what to do—just reached right out, grabbed it, and said, “I got you, buddy.” And honestly, I felt like I was about to win a strongman competition. The swivel hook? Oh man, it’s like a secret weapon. I could spin those logs around like I was doing a dance routine with a tractor. It lets me get all kinds of angles on my logs without having to crawl around in the dirt, trying to lift 'em with my bare hands (which, let’s face it, always ends with dirt under my nails and my dignity in the dirt). These tongs don’t just grab logs—they grab life by the horns and say, “Let’s do this.” I moved logs faster than I’ve ever moved anything in my life, and I looked like a professional doing it. Also, my neighbors now think I’ve got a full-on logging operation going. They’re scared to borrow tools from me, but I don’t mind. This is my time to shine. In conclusion, these tongs are the real deal. If you need to grab logs, grab these tongs, and don’t look back. 10/10 would recommend to anyone who has logs, chains, or an unhealthy amount of pride in their backyard.

Beyond awesome
These tongs are beyond awesome. Bought them to get logs out of the woods we use them for everything. Picking up logs for our sawmill with a construction forklift. Hauling logs on our log arch. Skidding logs with our tractor. Winching logs onto the trailer. They work for everything. So glad we got the biggest ones definitely an awesome product from earth worth. Highly recommend will probably get another set at some point to have on more equipment. Worth their weight in gold.

Great for the cost
I figured I would give these a shot, given the good price and good reviews. I have pulled dozens of logs so far and noticed a few things. I don't trust the strength of these on heavier logs, I slightly bent an arm pulling out a ~20" red oak (probably cut a little too long, so I'll blame myself for this) . The hooks are curved back maybe a little too aggressively, enough that they struggle to bite without tension on the chain which makes it a little difficult if you're pulling logs by yourself. On a good note, they're heavy enough that I'm pretty sure they'll handle everything they're actually designed for, but light enough you're not huffing and puffing just from slinging them around. The hardware seems very stout as well.
